Awards for Jerry Amaldev, Kaithapram
Sangeethika, a city-based cultural collective of arts lovers celebrating its 14th anniversary, will honour two eminent personalities from the world of music and literature with its annual Sangeethika Cultural Awards.
This year's recipients are music composer Jerry Amaldev and poet-lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. The awards, which carry a cash prize of ₹10,001 and a memento, will be presented at the annual celebration scheduled to be held at at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan here at 5.30 p.m. on Sunday.
The awards will be handed over by Carnatic vocalist K. Omanakutty. Founded 14 years ago, Sangeethika brings together students, professionals, homemakers, retirees, and cultural enthusiasts from various walks of life. The group has been meeting every third Sunday for the past 167 months.
The Sangeethika Awards were instituted in 2014 to honour individuals who have made remarkable contributions in the fields of music and literature.
