Ratu Road flyover to be opened on July 3
Ranchi: Commuters taking the Ratu road would get relief from traffic snarls as the 4.18km four-lane flyover, built at a cost of Rs 291 crore, would be inaugurated by Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on July 3, Union minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth posted on X. Built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the flyover begins at Naga Baba Khatal and descends at two strategic points: Itki Road, which leads to Gumla and Daltonganj, and near OTC Ground. In a first for Ranchi, the flyover is being equipped with Rs 8cr worth of noise barrier-cum-view cutters to absorb up to 95% of traffic noise. A 170-mt stretch crossing the Raj Bhavan will feature a bulletproof canopy for enhanced security for VIP movement in the area. "Final touch-up work, including lighting, signages, and cleaning, is under way. The flyover is not only an engineering achievement but also a traffic lifeline for Ranchi. It will greatly ease the daily chaos commuters face," said Anand Kumar, site manager of the project.

The flyover begins at Naga Baba Khatal and descends at two strategic points: Itki Road, which connects to NH-23 and leads toward Gumla and Daltonganj, and near the OTC Ground. The flyover runs along NH-75, aiming to ease congestion in central Ranchi and improve flow for intercity and highway-bound vehicles. In a first for Ranchi, the flyover is being equipped with noise-barrier-cum-view cutters at a cost of Rs 8 crore, capable of absorbing up to 95% of traffic noise. A 170-metre stretch crossing Raj Bhawan will feature a bulletproof canopy, ensuring added security for VIP movement in the area. The project also includes modular expansion joints to reduce sound and vibration, double-area streetlights for improved illumination, and strengthened ramps for smoother transitions. "Final touch-up work is being carried out which includes lighting, signages, and cleaning to ensure everything is ready for the inauguration. India, Madagascar discuss boosting defence ties with focus on maritime security
New Delhi, June 28 (UNI) Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Armed Forces of Madagascar Lt Gen Sahivelo Lala Monja Delphin and discussed ways to strengthen defence cooperation, particularly in the areas of maritime security and capacity building. Seth led a high-level Indian delegation on an official visit to Antananarivo, Madagascar, from June 25 to 27. During the visit, he represented India at the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of Madagascar's Independence and the creation of the Malagasy Armed Forces, a Defence Ministry statement said. He also called on Prime Minister of Madagascar Christian Ntsay and conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 65th anniversary of the Independence of Madagascar. Besides, the Minister also took part in an Indian community reception organised by the Embassy in Antananarivo. He briefed the members of the Indian diaspora on India's recent developments and ongoing economic transformation. India and Madagascar, as close neighbours and fellow developing nations in the Indian Ocean Region, share deep-rooted bonds of friendship and strong people-to-people ties. India remains a steadfast and committed partner in Madagascar's development journey. The visit by the Minister of State for Defence reaffirmed India's commitment to deepening its partnership with Madagascar, in line with the vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): An Indian delegation led by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will visit Kenya and Madagascar from June 23 to 26, 2025, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Defence. As per the statement, in the first leg, MoS Defence will visit Kenya for the joint unveiling of the Commemorative Pillar (War memorial honouring the fallen soldiers of India and Kenya) at Taita-Taveta County on June 23. According to the release, the second leg would see the Minister visiting Madagascar on June 26 to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Madagascar's Independence and the creation of the Malagasy Armed Forces at Antananarivo. India and Kenya are maritime neighbours. Contemporary ties between the two countries are marked by high-level exchanges, robust trade and investment, medical-value travel from Kenya, and extensive people-to-people contacts. The two nations share a common legacy of struggle against colonialism. Many Indians participated in and supported the freedom struggle in Kenya. According to the official statement, India and Madagascar enjoy a multifaceted relationship rooted in historical ties, shared values, and a commitment to regional stability and development.
