FIFA dismisses rumours of KL office relocation to Jakarta

KUALA LUMPUR: FIFA is not relocating their regional office from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta. A source from the world football governing body confirmed that the FIFA office at KL Eco City remains fully operational, dismissing recent rumours of a move as "baseless". "The FIFA office in KL remains operational as usual and will not be moved to Jakarta," said the source. "The claim is baseless." FIFA's regional headquarters in KL has been active since early 2018 and operates under the FIFA Forward Programme initiative. It is currently headed by Sanjeevan Balasingam, director of FIFA's Asia-Oceania region. The office plays a vital role in the development of football infrastructure and programmes across Asia and Oceania, overseeing contract management, grassroots development initiatives, and the implementation and monitoring of FIFA-funded projects.

PETALING JAYA: FIFA has dispelled rumours that they will be shifting their regional office to Jakarta. The world footballing body said their headquarters in KL Eco City continues to operate as normal. According to a source close to FIFA, there are no plans to move the regional office to Indonesia. Its office here has been the heart of FIFA's development operations in Asia and Oceania since 2018. For the record, the FIFA office in Kuala Lumpur is part of the 'FIFA Forward Programme' initiative and is currently led by its Asia-Oceania region director Sanjeevan Balasingam. It plays a crucial role in supporting regional football development, including technical development, infrastructure, contract management, grassroots programs and monitoring of FIFA-funded projects.
