‘Rhythm of Unity' to shine at Babulang Fest with YPS Sape Ambassadors' cultural showcase
YPS Sape Ambassadors will be performing at this year's Babulang Fest at Batu Danau in Limbang on June 28.
KUCHING (June 26): The spirit of unity is set to take centre stage at this year's Babulang Fest, with the Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) Sape Ambassadors presenting a stage performance at Batu Danau in Limbang on June 28.
Themed 'Rhythm of Unity', the 90-minute show which runs from 6.30pm will feature Malaysian youths from various ethnic backgrounds – including an Indian from Kuala Lumpur and a Kadazan Dusun from Sabah – rendering Malaysian favourite songs accompanied by the traditional sound of the Sape and the musical influences of the Nusantara region.
According to a press release, 'Rhythm of Unity' is more than just a musical presentation but also a symbolic expression of shared identity and national harmony, bridging communities through cultural expression.
This inclusive performance, which is free and open to the public, aims to engage audiences from all walks of life and highlight the importance of unity through music and tradition.
The YPS Sape Ambassadors' participation in this year's festival comes at the invitation of the Sarawak Bisaya Association and is supported by Batu Danau assemblyman Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang, who also serves as the association's patron and a YPS board member.
Babulang Fest remains one of Sarawak's most iconic cultural celebrations.
It marks the conclusion of a successful harvest season and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle.
The festival pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Bisaya community through time-honoured traditions, vibrant rituals, and its renowned buffalo races – an enduring celebration of history, pride, and cultural identity.
