What is known is that on Sunday, just after 5 p.m., Hamilton Police received a slew of 911 calls for shots fired in the area of 77 Governor's Road in Dundas. Dead at the scene was 25-year-old Zachary Shuman, of Dundas. His grey Dodge Ram pickup truck was found nearby. Cops say that, according to witnesses, a blue Ford Edge was spotted heading eastbound from the scene. So far, the vehicle has not been recovered, and police have not released a description of the suspected triggerman. Investigators are looking for this blue Ford Edge in connection with a murder on Sunday in Dundas. HPS 'There was a brief interaction in the Metro parking lot prior to the shooting,' Det.-Sgt. Sara Beck told reporters on Monday, adding that investigators are hoping to speak to a female witness who ran from the scene in the opposite direction of the Edge. Beck added that so far, cops don't know the details of the interaction, nor do they have any information on any possible relationship between the shooter and the victim. Neither lived at 77 Governor's Rd. The veteran detective would not say how many shots were fired or whether the murder was targeted. Nor would she discuss whether Shuman was known to police. 'The Hamilton Police Service extends our deepest condolences to Zachary's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,' the service said in a statement. Investigators are now hunting the Ford Edge and its driver, along with a female witness, who they say was uninvolved in the deadly gunplay. She is described as having shoulder-length brown hair and wearing either red or orange shorts. Police are asking that she come forward. Police are also asking members of the public, who were in the area at the time to check their CCTV and dashcam footage between 4:45 p.m. and 5:10 p.m. on Sunday for anything suspicious. Shuman's slaying was the seventh murder of 2025 in the Hamilton area. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Kimberly Tait, of the Homicide Unit, at 905-546-4863. Meanwhile, two individuals have been arrested in connection with an east-end Hamilton shooting earlier this month. Cops say that on July 22, around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of Barton St. E. and Fraser Ave. A victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team assumed carriage of the investigation. Detectives have now charged Donald Zoschke, 42, and Jessica Fair, 31 — both of Hamilton — with multiple offences. Zoschke was allegedly in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun and a large amount of methamphetamine and cocaine when he was arrested. Bail was opposed. Detectives believe this shooting was a targeted event related to a dispute between the individuals involved. bhunter@ @HunterTOSun Golf World Celebrity Wrestling World

Running for tomorrow; raising brain tumor awareness

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – May marks brain tumor awareness month as one Sioux Falls nurse is sharing her cancer journey in hopes of raising more awareness. Doctors diagnosed Sara Beck with a grade four brain tumor in April 2024. Now, following brain surgery and months of treatment, Beck is back to work at Sanford Children's Hospital, where she says her life the past year has helped her connect better with patients. Veterans talk real reason for Memorial Day 'I feel like I can empathize with families a little bit more with things that they're going through because I've kind of been down that same road,' Beck said. During surgery, doctors were able to remove over 90% of the brain tumor. 'She's done very well, had a very good surgery. So that's from a prognosis standpoint, one of the key parts of it. And it's good quality of life too. And where the tumor is at, and how good of a surgery you have is often the big implications for their quality of life,' Sanford Health medical oncologist, Dr. Travis Snyders said. Beck says running has been a major outlet while undergoing treatment, taking part in the Sioux Falls half marathon and other local races since her diagnosis. One race even took her across the country. 'I joined the Grey Nation Endurance team for brain tumor awareness and was able to do some fundraising and do a Disney Half-Marathon. So that was pretty cool,' Beck said. Beck says she's looking forward to more races as she finishes up her last rounds of treatment.'Sara was fortunate in that she had a good resection, and the part of the brain where it was at was not as much of an impact on her motor and function day to day,' Synders said. She plans to continue running and raising awareness for brain cancer. 'Just makes me feel alive, so that's important. And just a great way to start the day,' Beck said. Next week, Beck plans to run another half-marathon in Deadwood. She also plans to run the Sioux Falls half marathon in September. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
