Made in Rs 35 crore, this film became worldwide hit, earned over Rs 50 crore, hasn't released in India due to..., lead actors are... Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji caused a huge uproar in India due to Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's casting in the film. The actress made certain comments on India's Operation Sindoor following Pahalgam attack that didn't settle well with the Indian audience, and was subjected to serious boycott calls in the country. Due to growing controversy around it, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 decided to skip its theatrical release in India. On June 27, Sardaar Ji 3 released overseas and has since been making waves at the International box office. According to Sacnilk, the horror comedy grossed Rs 50 crore at overseas box office, taking its cumulative total to $6 million (INR 51 crores). North America plays a pivotal role in Sardaar Ji 3's earnings, contributing Rs 18.75 crore ($2.2 million). Pakistan comes at the second spot with Rs 7 crore ($830K) and the United Kingdom on third position with Rs 6.25 crore ($725K) collection. These figures have contributed in making Sardaar ji 3, the third-highest grossing Punjabi film in overseas history, surpassing Jatt & Juliet 3 ( Rs 57.50 crore) and Carry On Jatta 3 (Rs 46 crore). The film is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark internationally in the coming days, further achieving the blockbuster status. According to Industry insiders, if the film would have been released in India it would have emerged as the biggest Punjabi movie worldwide. Despite the ban in India, Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir's collaboration turns out to be a huge success, as their film has achieved a massive milestone overseas. Helmed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 also stars renowned Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa, along with Diljit and Hania. Months before the Pahalgam attack in April, Diljit Dosanjh had broken his silence on the controversy and Hania Aamir's casting in the film. The singer-actor said, 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi (When this film was made, everything was fine. We shot it in February, and at that time, the situation was normal. After that, a lot of big things happened that are not in our control. So the producers decided that since the film obviously can't release in India now, they'll release it overseas. The producers have invested a lot of money, and when the film was being made, there was no such issue.'

Diljit Dosanjh as Sardaar Ji to Jackie Shroff's Sardhar Saab, popular actors who played Sardaar on screen

We have come across various versions and varieties of Sardaars on the big screen as well as on OTT over the years. While some Sardaar are funny, some are dead serious and all about business, and some are outright patriots who deserve more recognition. Although you might have your own stereotype about Sardaars, various popular actors have come along and broken the stereotype, while a few continued entertaining you with their characters. Over the years, though, some Sardaars have really stood out because of how popular actors chose to portray those roles on-screen. Jackie Shroff and Diljit Dosanjh as Sardaars Stream Son of Sardaar, among other entertainers, now on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium Looking back at Sardaars portrayed by popular actors Diljit Dosanjh - Sardaar Ji (Chaupal via OTTplay Premium) He is now making headlines for Sardaar Ji 3 but Diljit Dosanjh broke the mould with his first movie from the Sardaar Ji franchise itself. He calls himself Sardaar Ji, and while on his journey to help a few ghosts while eliminating others, this Sikh man demands respect. If a rude ghost fails to call him Sardaar Ji, they could face his wrath. Vicky Kaushal - Sardar Udham (Prime Video) A patriot by nature, Sardar Udham fought back for the Jalianwalah Bagh massacre by the British troops. Vicky Kaushal and Shoojit Sircar joined hands to tell the heartwrenching tale, which is further retold in Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2. Jackie Shroff - Sardar Saab (Chaupal via OTTplay Premium) Did you know that Jackie Shroff has also portrayed a sardaar on-screen? It is true. He portrayed the role of Sardaar along with Daljeet Kalsi and Gugu Gill in the lead roles through the movie, Sardar Saab. This is the tale of a Sardaar sending his son to New Zealand while fighting for the poor alone. The son gets back, and upon finding his father under arrest, he investigates further to find the real truth. Ajay Devgn - Son of Sardaar (JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium) Ajay Devgn's slapstick comedy Son of Sardaar is the story about Jassi and his chaotic life that goes from living one lie to another. In Son of Sardaar, he found out that the family of the woman he's in love with actually wants him dead. Thus begins the hilarious and action-packed journey where it is Jassi vs Billu (played by Sanjay Dutt). Gugu Gill - Jaddi Sardar (Chaupal via OTTplay Premium) An underrated gem, Jaddi Sardar is the story of two Sikh brothers who grew up having a strong bond. A misunderstanding between their families, however, causes them to drift apart. The movie stars Oye Makhna actor Gugu Gill as one of the brothers and Sippy Gill as the other brother.

After Defending Diljit Dosanjh For Sardaar Ji 3, Naseerudin Shah Deletes FB Post

Naseeruddin Shah defended Diljit Dosanjh amid backlash over his film Sardaar Ji 3, urging not to blame actors for casting decisions and to separate art from politics. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who recently came to Diljit Dosanjh's defence amid backlash over his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, has now deleted the Facebook post in which he addressed the controversy.v Diljit had come under fire for working alongside Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the third instalment of the popular Sardaar Ji franchise. In his now-deleted post, Shah had clarified that the casting of the film was not in Diljit's hands, and urged people not to hold actors personally responsible for creative decisions made by producers or studios. The acclaimed actor also spoke more broadly about the strained relationship between India and Pakistan, voicing his concern over attempts to restrict personal or artistic exchanges between the two nations. He talked about the importance of keeping art and cinema separate from political tensions. Shah has deleted the post now. He did not issue a statement explaining why he removed it though. On Monday, Naseeruddin took to social media to support Diljit saying, 'I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they've got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned. What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it". 'And my response to those who will say 'Go to Pakistan" is 'GO TO KAILASA"," he concluded. Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh has stayed confident about his decision to release Sardaar Ji 3 worldwide. He recently gave fans a peek into how the film is being received in Pakistan. On Instagram, Diljit re-shared a video showing an excited crowd inside a Pakistani theatre cheering during a scene featuring actress Hania Aamir. In another post, he shared the film's early box office success, revealing that it had earned Rs 11.03 crore in just two days of release. At the moment, Diljit Dosanjh's latest film Sardaar Ji 3 is at the centre of a major controversy. The film, which also stars Neeru Bajwa and Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, has been criticised heavily for featuring a Pakistani actor. As a result, it was not released in India and instead opened internationally on June 27. After the trailer was launched, several groups began calling for a ban on Diljit and all his future projects in India. Both the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued statements demanding the ban. The controversy comes shortly after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and India's response — Operation Sindoor — which involved air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. Diljit lauds Hania, slams Bollywood

By now, the memory of Abir Gulaal, touted as heartthrob Fawad Khan's Bollywood comeback, is dead and buried amid the settling dust of last month's ceasefire between Pakistan and India. Fawad's Bollywood re-entry, having been built up into an extravagant cross-border romance, has been parked firmly into a corner. Rushing to fill the vacuum, we have the true-to-herself fresh-faced Hania Aamir stepping behind the camera alongside Punjabi hitmaker Diljit Dosanjh, shaking things up in the upcoming Sardaar Ji 3, heading to cinemas on June 27. Unless, that is, you are a cinema-goer in India. Across the border, where Pakistani artists continue to be tainted by association, Sardaar Ji has been definitively banned in theatres – not that any of this has bothered the film's star Diljit, who outlined his feelings on both Hania and the Indian ban in no uncertain terms during a recent interview with Haroon Rashid on the BBC Asian Network. Working with Hania and women Maintaining a respectful distance between himself and his female co-stars, the actor-singer had nothing but warm words for the professionalism displayed by Hania on set as the pair worked together in the film. "My experience with Hania was very good," stated Diljit in a short but sweet commendation. "She was professional when we were working. We didn't have that much time together, though." For her part, Hania is known for not allowing geopolitical tensions between governments to get in the way of budding friendships with Indian artists. Her friendship with rapper Badshah serves as a prime example of this accepting trait. Moreover, returning to Sardaar Ji 3, this is not the first time the Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum star has crossed paths with the Punjabi singer. Last October, Hania – then a mere member of the crowd – joined Diljit on stage at his own invitation during a packed London concert, to the delight of both herself and fans around the world. As for Diljit, the man remains true to both his art and dedicated to maintaining a respectful distance between himself and his female colleagues – despite having appeared onscreen together with fellow Sardaar Ji 3 star Neeru Bajwa no less than seven times (rivalling the romantic pairing between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol during the '90s). "I respect everyone's privacy," maintained Diljit. "I myself am very private and give everyone their space – especially women. We should give them even more space." In case anyone was left with any lingering doubts, the actor confirmed, "I am not the way I am in films." 'Not in our hands' Viewers in India may not be getting the chance to see Diljit in this particular film after the offering has been blocked in his country, but it is a decision about which the Indian actor has no hard feelings. "When this film was being made, the [political] situation was fine," mused Diljit, adopting the sanguine, accepting tone of one picking their battles. "When we shot this film in February, everything was fine. But a lot of big things are not in our hands." As readers will have surmised, Diljit was referring to the Pakistan-India military tension that escalated in the wake of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April. This was the incident that cemented Fawad's ban and the ultimate shelving of Abir Gulaal – but fortunately for film fans, Sardaar Ji, despite a similar cross-border cast, appears to have escaped such a fate. "The producers decided that obviously this film could not be released in India, so we would be releasing it overseas," elaborated Diljit. Acknowledging that such a move would inevitably result in a financial loss, he added, "Obviously, they have lost a lot of money with such a decision. Yes, there will be a loss, because you are removing one whole territory. We do have this in our minds. But the situation is out of our hands, and [they producers] have my full support." Anoushey has Diljit's back The producers may be blessed with Diljit's support, but closer to home here in Pakistan, Diljit himself has VJ and self-proclaimed supporter of artists' rights Anoushey Ashraf in his corner. Taking to Instagram Stories to denounce Indian authorities' decision to block the film due to the presence of a Pakistani actor, Anoushey wrote, "Imagine being more offended by art than by hatred dividing people." Commenting on how a political stance should be unconnected with creating art, Anoushey continued, "Punishing your own for working with our actors says more about your insecurity than your patriotism. For you, everyone's a pawn in petty politics. Please don't embarrass yourself further. The hate is clear; it's also boring now. Addressing her Indian community as she lamented the fraught state of affairs in the cross-border entertainment industry, the VJ noted that there could be no change on the horizon as long as those in political power continued to make decisions impacting art. "To all my Indian friends, am so sorry it's come down to this," she shared. "We've seen better times, but until this hateful government of yours lasts, our shared goodness is going to be on the back burner." To back up her point, Anoushey took the chance to post a reel of Diljit on Stories where the Punjabi star insists he has no interest in Bollywood per se. "I don't even want to work in Bollywood," the actor can be seen remarking in the video. "My love is for music, and I can create that without any one else's permission." Lauding Diljit's commitment to his work, Anoushey's caption said it all. "We should release his movie in Pakistan," commented the Pakistani VJ. "His nationality is artistry. Really beyond limitations!" Whether or not the Diljit-and-Hania-collaboration enthrals viewers for its artistry remains to be seen – but the Indian star has won hearts across the border for his commitment to his art in defiance of his government's stance.

"Disheartening and unfair": Diljit Dosanjh's manager on 'Sardaar Ji 3' controversy

New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Diljit Dosanjh's manager, Sonali Singh, shared a long note highlighting the ongoing criticism against the singer-actor for collaborating with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film 'Sardaar Ji 3'. Diljit Dosanjh is facing a massive backlash from social media, the music fraternity and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for working with actress Aamir amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. In a long note titled 'Always choosing love over hate,' Diljit's Manager, Sonali, wrote that the recent criticism surrounding the Punjabi film 'Sardaar Ji 3' is both 'disheartening' and 'unfair.' 'This recent wave of criticism surrounding his upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji, due to the presence of a Pakistani co-star, is both disheartening and unfair, especially considering the timing and the nature of the project. The film was shot long before the current political climate intensified,' wrote Sonali Singh. Earlier, in a clarification note by the makers of 'Sardaar Ji 3', the White Hill Studios claimed that the shooting and casting of 'Sardaar Ji 3' were completed before tensions arose between India and Pakistan. Diljit's manager further wrote that the film is funded by the producers' 'personal life savings,' which are at risk of being 'wiped out entirely' due to the ongoing demands against its release. 'This is yet another project where innocent families of the producers are involved, created and funded with personal life savings, and made to uplift the regional film industry. To attempt to derail this release now is to undermine not just one actor, but an entire creative ecosystem. It's not a film backed by a giant corporate house that can absorb the blow of massive losses. This is someone's life's earnings, and it's at risk of being wiped out entirely,' wrote Singh. On Tuesday, responding to the backlash, the makers of the 'Sardaar Ji 3' announced that they won't release the film or any of its promotional content in India until the situation becomes 'opportune', read the Instagram post of White Hill Studios (Sardaar Ji 3 Makers). Citing this decision, Sonali Singh wrote in her note that Diljit has taken this step out of respect for 'public sentiment' and 'authorities', despite the significant personal and professional cost, to mitigate losses for those involved. 'Diljit has chosen to respect the sentiments of the Indian public and authorities. He is not releasing the film in India, standing in alignment with the nation's current mood, showing once again that he honours the decisions of his own country even at a personal and professional cost,' wrote Sonali Singh. Manager Sonali also questioned the netizens' alleged hypocrisy of celebrating Diljit's global achievements while simultaneously questioning his patriotism and belonging within India. 'On one hand, the global media celebrates him as the first Indian to perform at Coachella, to appear on Jimmy Fallon carrying his Traditional Identity, to walk the Met Gala carrying his culture & roots. And every single time, he proudly carries India with on the other hand, in his own country, how quickly we forget. How conveniently we celebrate him when he puts India on the map, and how easily we trash him when the narrative turns,' wrote Sonali Singh. Sonali Singh posted the long note on her Instagram handle on Wednesday. Amid a storm surrounding his collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh also took to social media with a cryptic message on Tuesday. Diljit shared a cryptic post on Instagram that read, 'Censored before release?'The post was about the long-awaited film 'Punjab 95', which was delayed due to censorship issues. The film, directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, tells the story of Khalra, known for uncovering human rights violations during Punjab's militancy era. Meanwhile, on Monday, Diljit shared the trailer of the horror-comedy franchise on his Instagram and announced that the film will be released exclusively overseas on June 27. Diljit captioned the trailer post: 'Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.'The trailer of 'Sardaar Ji 3' is currently not on YouTube India but has been shared by Diljit on his Instagram page. (ANI)
