The India-Pakistan tensions have led to renewed calls for banning Pakistani actors in India, with Vaani Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh facing heat for collaborating with Pakistani artists. The film's trailer, which was released on social media, shows Diljit and Hania as ghost hunters tasked with removing a spirit from a mansion in the UK. The backlash against Diljit Dosanjh intensified, with many criticising him for collaborating with Hania Aamir. Cine organisations have also joined the chorus, demanding a ban on Diljit and his future projects. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Kavita, who is the voice behind Bollywood classics such as Iktara (Wake up Sid), Dil-E-Nadaan (A Suitable Boy) and Rang Saari (Jugjugg Jeeyo). 'Right now, I believe that whatever is in the best interest of our country, that's what we should stand by. Any decision taken by the Government of India, we should support it,' she tells us. Kavita adds, 'Whether it's about putting restrictions on something, whether it's about terrorism, or even if it involves foreign artists. I feel that we should remain firm on whatever serves the national interest, no matter what the form or issue is'. Recently, the Indian government ordered Indian OTT platforms to stop streaming all songs, movies, series, podcasts made in Pakistan. Earlier this year, Vaani Kapoor also found herself in a similar soup for her project with Fawad Khan. The film Abir Gulaal had its release stalled amidst the heightened tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. On music uniting people That being said, Kavita firmly believes that nothing can negate the power of music, emphasising its universal impact and ability to connect people across cultures and boundaries. When asked if she believes music can bridge cultural gaps and foster understanding between nations, she wholeheartedly agrees. 'Music is a very powerful tool. For so many years, cultural exchange programs have taken place across the world, giving us the opportunity to understand and connect with each other. Otherwise, what would you even talk about with someone from a different place? But when you're doing something in music or any art form you can engage for hours without needing words,' says Kavita, whose latest song was Khumaari, which featured in Kesari Chapter 2. She continues, 'That's the beauty of it. Especially when we collaborate with artists from other countries when their musical style and ours come together something completely new and exciting emerges. The energy of two artists from different backgrounds, the cultural essence of two nations blending into a single piece of music. It creates a unique effect, a special kind of magic. I've collaborated with many international artists, and I truly believe there's no better tool for connection than this'.

Sardaar Ji 3 row: ‘No plans yet to remove Diljit Dosanjh from Border 2'
Diljit Dosanjh continues to find himself in hot water for going ahead with his film Sardaar Ji 3's release overseas, which features Pakistani actor Hania Amir. The move had sparked backlash online with film bodies demanding a ban on Diljit. Now, there's been growing demand for Diljit to be removed from the upcoming war drama Border 2. Diljit Dosanjh However, we have learnt from highly placed sources on the film that, as of now, there is no such development. The source says, 'There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. The announcement about his casting was made almost nine months back, before any of the unfortunate situations had happened. Almost 40-50 percent of the film's shooting has already been done, so making any change at this point is not possible.' On June 25, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees had written letters addressed to Bhushan Kumar (co-producer of Border 2) and actor Sunny Deol, asking them to disassociate from their collaboration with Diljit. However, both of them are yet to reply to the letters. When we reached out to the makers of Border 2 — Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan — our efforts weren't met with a response at the time of going to press. Meanwhile, on Friday, FWICE wrote a letter urging Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw the permission granted for the shooting of the film Border 2 at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Sources claim that the film's team may issue a statement soon. Guru Randhawa deactivates X account after cryptic post on Diljit While artistes like Mika Singh have openly objected to Hania's casting and the decision to release Sardaar Ji 3 overseas, Guru Randhawa too took to X on Thursday to drop a cryptic post that many interpreted as a veiled dig at fellow artist Diljit amid the Sardaar Ji 3 row. "'Lakh pardesi hoyieee, Apna desh nhi bhandi daa. Jehre mulk da khayie, us da bura nhi mangi da,' read a part of Guru's post. However, in a surprise move on Friday, the singer deactivated his account on X.

Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaarji 3 producer says film lost 40% revenue after skipping India release over Hania Aamir's casting

While he clarified that the film was shot before the Pahalgam attack, some fans are still disappointed with him. In an interview with NDTV, the film's producer, Gunbir Singh Sidhu, opened up about social media trolling and the losses suffered by the film due to skipping its release in India. Film bodies in India have called for a ban on the film in the country in light of the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April 2025. Reacting to the backlash for casting Hania, producer Gunbir revealed that the film was shot in February in the UK, when there was no such atmosphere between the two countries and no restriction from the Government of India or any other institution. He further revealed that they decided not to release the film in India after the Pahalgam attack as they didn't want to hurt anyone's sentiments. He further reacted to Hania and Mahira strongly condemning Operation Sindoor on social media and said, "I believe that they should not have made such statements. But I cannot comment more than that. But I would say that those things should not have happened, and she hit below the belt." Gunbir on Sardaarji 3 suffering losses Gunbir further talked about the film suffering a loss after skipping its India release and said, "My previous film Jatt and Juliet 3 came out last year which was led by Diljit and Neeru. It was the first Punjabi film to do a business of ₹ 100 crore at the worldwide box office. 40% of that came from business in India and 60% overseas. So you assume that we have a business of about 40 crore from India and 60 crore from abroad. In such a situation, it is clear that 40% of our revenue loss has happened." About Sardaarji 3 Sardaarji 3 is the third instalment in the popular Punjabi fantasy-comedy franchise starring Diljit Dosanjh. The film follows his character, a quirky ghost hunter, who takes on a new supernatural case in the UK, this time with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir joining the cast alongside Neeru Bajwa. The film was released internationally on 27 June and skipped a release in India.

Diljit Dosanjh must ‘apologise', remove all ‘objectionable scenes' from Sardaar Ji 3, says Mika Singh
Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has been facing backlash for the last few days, ahead of the release of his upcoming movie Sardaarji 3. He is paired opposite Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the film. Mika Singh had lashed out at Diljit and called him a 'fake singer'. Now, he has added that 'mistakes' can be made by anyone and Diljit will be forgiven only if apologises for his own mistakes. If Diljit made a mistake, we are all willing to forgive. But he must apologise and remove all the objectionable scenes from the movie. That's it. No hate. Just respect. Desh pehle (Nation first).' Guys, as we all know, the relationship between India and Pakistan isn't going well right now. Yet some people continue to act irresponsibly. Sardaar Ji 3 will release in theatres outside India on June 27. Meanwhile, All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) also criticised Dosanjh and the movie's team for casting Hania Aamir in the movie. The controversy comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, followed by India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which air strikes were carried out on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Several Pakistani artists, including Hania Aamir, had their social media accounts made no longer accessible in India following the ghastly Pahalgam attack.
