Pakistan Condemns Terror Attack on Passenger Bus in Balochistan's Kalat District
Nada Mustafa In a brutal act of terrorism, three passengers were killed and seven others injured when gunmen ambushed a passenger bus traveling from Karachi to Quetta in the Nemargh area of Balochistan's Kalat district. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has sparked widespread condemnation from top political and security officials in Pakistan. According to provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the attackers opened fire on the coach from both sides of the road. He confirmed that the injured victims were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kalat, where a state of emergency has been declared. A search operation is currently underway as security forces pursue the perpetrators. Speaking to Geo News, Rind stated that the attackers appeared to have set up an ambush and launched the assault once the vehicle was stopped. He noted that Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has taken immediate notice and ordered a detailed report from law enforcement agencies. State media also reported on the harrowing testimony of a passenger who survived the attack, stating that the gunmen fired indiscriminately at those onboard. Security officials linked the attack to frustration among terrorist groups—specifically the so-called 'Fitna-Al-Hindustan'—following successful military operations in the region. These groups have reportedly suffered financial losses due to anti-smuggling crackdowns and are now targeting civilians to destabilize the region and divert attention from military border operations. President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the incident in strong terms, calling it a 'barbaric act' and promised the best possible medical care for the injured. He emphasized that the state will continue to deal with terrorism with 'full force.' Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed these sentiments, labeling the attackers as 'cowards' and accusing them of attempting to disrupt peace under foreign influence. 'These are Indian-sponsored terrorist elements seeking to create chaos by targeting soft civilian targets,' he said. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the attack as 'despicable' and affirmed that such violence now targets all ordinary Pakistanis, not just specific communities. He vowed that the state will overcome these threats at any cost. Other political leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, also strongly denounced the attack. They called for unity and decisive action to eliminate terrorism and safeguard national peace. Senator Sherry Rehman and MNA Shazia Marri of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emphasized the need for a robust response to terrorism and condemned the foreign-backed elements behind such attacks. This assault follows a similar tragic incident just a week ago, when nine passengers were abducted and murdered in the Sur-Dakai area, located between Balochistan's Zhob and Loralai districts, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the province. Authorities continue to investigate the Kalat attack and search for those responsible as the nation mourns another loss at the hands of terrorism. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream

Bugti urges rights groups to propagate impartial narrative
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has urged the human rights organizations to build an impartial and fact-based narrative of Balochistan's history, current realities, and overall situation. In a meeting with a delegation from the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Quetta, the Balochistan CM said the ongoing narrative at national and international level regarding Balochistan is inconsistent with facts and it needs revision to reflect a balanced and accurate perspective. The meeting included in-depth discussions on law and order, human rights conditions, and the province's social development initiatives. Dwelling the history, Bugti highlighted that the accession of the Kalat state to Pakistan was based on mutual agreement rather than coercion, adding certain groups deliberately distorted historical facts to mislead those unfamiliar with the region's true history. Referring to recent terrorist incidents, he condemned the targeted killing of innocent citizens based on their identity, calling it a part of a broader agenda by hostile foreign powers, particularly India. "These terrorist acts have nothing to do with a struggle for rights but are part of an organised attempt to destabilise and divide Pakistan," said the Balochistan CM, adding the supporters of these groups have openly expressed their intentions on various national and international platforms. Questioning the legitimacy of such violent acts, Bugti asked, "What kind of rights movement involves killing people based on their ethnic identity?" Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti pointed out that those elements rejected dialogue and openly spoke about dividing Pakistan, a mindset that was unacceptable in any civilized state or society.

Balochistan officials say Daesh involved in high-profile kidnapping, murder of schoolboy
ISLAMABAD: Senior officials of the Balochistan government this week said Daesh militants had abducted and murdered a schoolboy, whose kidnapping last year triggered a weeks-long protest in the province. Eleven-year-old Muhammad Musawir Khan Kakar, a third-grade student, was kidnapped from a school van by unidentified armed men while on his way to school in Quetta on Nov. 15, 2024. His family said they had not received any ransom call from the kidnappers since his abduction. Kakar's relatives and other protesters had staged a sit-in protest at Quetta's Unity Square for 14 days after his abduction. They ended the protest after Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti met and assured them of setting up a team to recover the boy. Kakar belonged to a prominent tribal family involved in the gold trading business in Balochistan for decades. "I do not merely want to condemn the brutal manner in which Daesh terrorists martyred the innocent child Musawir Kakar for ransom—I consider it my responsibility to ensure that those involved in this incident are brought to justice," Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti wrote on social media platform X on Saturday. — Sarfraz Bugti (@PakSarfrazbugti) June 28, 2025 Bugti said the provincial government had undertaken hectic efforts to recover Kakar over the past seven months. "The entire state machinery has now been mobilized against those involved in this incident," he said. Separately, Quetta Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat shared details of the incident. He said militants part of a Daesh cell operating from abroad had abducted the boy and demanded Rs3 billion [$10.58 million] as ransom, following which police and intelligence agencies launched a joint operation to recover him. Shafqaat said six suspects were identified by law enforcers, out of which five were Afghan nationals and one was a Pakistani citizen. The Quetta official said over 1,000 CCTV videos were analyzed while over 2,000 houses and 400 rented properties were searched. He added it was considered one of the largest search operations in which police, the Counterterrorism Department, Intelligence Bureau and Frontier Corps took part. Shafqaat said the operation progressed to a key hideout where one Afghan suspect detonated himself while another was killed. In a separate operation, he said the other gang members were located. "It was confirmed that the child had been martyred and was secretly buried," Shafqaat said. "The body was recovered, identified through DNA, and handed over to the family." There were reports that DAISH, led by Adil Panjshairi, was planning a kidnap for ransom operation. However, after his arrest, while entering Pakistan from Afghanistan by Paksitani Law Enforcement agencies, the plan was thwarted. Subsequently, another cell of DAISH, operating… — Muhammed Hamza Shafqaat (@hamzashafqaat) June 28, 2025 He said the provincial government was taking legal action against those involved in militant activities from across the border. "Rest assured all of them will be arrested," he vowed.

There exists no need to launch large-scale operation in province: Bugti
ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti has ruled out the need for a large-scale military operation in the province, stating that Pakistan will thwart every attack orchestrated by the so-called 'Fitna-e-Hindustan.' Addressing at a press conference in Islamabad, Bugti accused India of resorting to proxy warfare following its military failures. 'After suffering defeat, India is now relying on proxies. The enemy is waging a proxy war against us and dreams of destabilising Pakistan's rising economy,' he said. Bugti said India's 'evil designs' have been exposed, and the state holds 'solid evidence' against Fitna-e-Hindustan. He claimed the recent attack in Khuzdar, in which children were martyred, was carried out through these proxies and backed by the Indian intelligence agency RAW. 'RAW is fully supporting Fitna-e-Hindustan and is providing intelligence to their handlers. These terrorists should not be associated with the Baloch people,' he emphasised. The chief minister reiterated that all acts of terrorism in Balochistan have been RAW-funded since day one. 'There is no need for any large military operation in Balochistan. We will successfully foil every attack launched by Fitna-e-Hindustan,' Bugti asserted. He also criticised Indian media for spreading false reports, including a fabricated story about the destruction of Karachi Port. 'Fitna-e-Hindustan is part of a conspiracy to put Pakistan's peace at risk,' he added. 'India was defeated on the battlefield, and the Pakistan Armed Forces gave a befitting response to Indian aggression,' Bugti said. Commenting on internal matters, he said that political dialogue is always possible with political parties, but issues such as missing persons are often used as propaganda against the state. 'In today's polarised environment, it is nearly impossible for political parties to agree on any issue,' he concluded. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
