Sarimah Ibrahim denies demand for hefty pay for TV dramas

13 Jun - Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim recently dismissed the rumour that she is asking for a hefty fee per episode for any TV project due to her status as a wife of a royalty. The 47-year-old actress recently stated that people should be asking her, instead of speculating on something she never said. "I hope people can get to know me and ask me first before making their own speculation. I am still a working artiste... Because of my status, people think that I charge a hefty fee of RM10,000 per episode. This is false and they never asked me themselves," she said. Sarimah, who is married to Negeri Sembilan royalty, Tunku Nadzimuddin Tunku Mudzaffar, said that she never asked for a large sum when it comes to her work. "Maybe there are people who asked that on behalf of me, but I never asked that much," she said. The actress was last seen on TV playing the lead in the drama, "Ternyata Sebuah Bahagia". #SHOWBIZ: Sarimah denies 'demanding' RM10k per drama episode

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim has clarified a misunderstanding regarding her acting fees, which some have attributed to her status as a royal wife. Sarimah, 47, urged all interested parties to approach her directly to discuss payment rates rather than making unsubstantiated assumptions. "When inviting an actor for a drama series, it's best to discuss terms with them first, rather than jumping to conclusions. "My status as a royal wife leads some to believe my fee is exorbitant, around RM10,000 per episode. This is simply not true," she said. Sarimah, whose husband, Tunku Nadzimuddin Tunku Mudzaffar, is the nephew of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, stressed that she has never demanded an excessively high fee. "I've never asked for a high fee; perhaps someone else made enquiries on my behalf," she added. Sarimah also revealed her new role as a producer, with plans to create programmes focused on women's empowerment through her company, Sarimah Sdn Bhd. "My goal is to establish collaborations with other producers," she said. "The first show I want to produce is a documentary about female artistes."
