Ex-revenue officer joins Vijay's party, DMK alleges he raided actor's home in 2020
KG Arunraj, a doctor-turned-Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officer who recently took voluntary retirement, has joined Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as the party's propaganda and policy chief. The announcement was made on former civil servant had served for over 15 years in the Income Tax department, with postings in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Maharashtra. The raid was carried out as part of an alleged tax evasion investigation.
However, both Arunraj and TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna have denied these claims. When asked about the DMK's allegation, the two dismissed it as to the IRS officer joining the TVK, DMK MP P Wilson wrote on X, 'Is your master Sarkar? Did they threaten you with a knife or a gun,' a veiled reference using the titles of popular Vijay films, Master and spokesperson A Saravanan challenged Arunraj to come out and flatly deny that he was involved in Vijay's raids in 2020.'If someone has investigated Vijay for IT violations and joins the same party, it makes a mockery of our executives,' Saravan told India to India Today, BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan came out in support of Vijay and alleged that the DMK was 'scared of Vijay and the BJP' and questioned why the ruling party was commenting on other parties if it was confident of its own position.
