Strathroy-Caradoc police investigate homicide after fatal stabbing

A quiet residential neighbourhood in Strathroy was turned upside down Friday night as police in the community investigate what they're calling a homicide. Strathroy-Caradoc police were called to Ashby Crescent just after 5 p.m. following reports of an altercation between two men. Police say they arrived to find one man with stab wounds. The 27 year old later died of his injuries. A 25-year-old man has been arrested and taken into custody. Witnesses tell CTV News the two men had been working in the area, though this has not been confirmed by police. Strathroy-Caradoc Det. Sgt. Jason Cartwright said the service is getting help from OPP Major Crimes and Sarnia Police Forensics units. 'We aren't sure exactly what the relationship is between those two individuals. We're still investigating. The OPP Major Crimes Unit as well as the Sarnia Police Forensic Investigation Section is attending to give us a hand. This just occurred in the last couple hours, so charges, we will be looking at charges pending in the future,' said Det. Sgt. Cartright. In the meantime, a portion of Ashby Crescent has been cordoned off and closed to vehicular traffic as police investigate. Yellow crime scene tape can be seen wrapped around the front yards of two homes next to one another on the small street.

Counterfeit prescription drugs seized in Sarnia

During the execution of a search warrant in late April, police seized 13 tablets resembling pharmaceuticals. On Monday, police received a certificate of analysis from Health Canada indicating that the tablets contained N-Pyrrolidino protonitazene, a new synthetic opioid. Although the tablets looked like oxycodone, a strong pain reliever, they contain a Schedule I substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The tablets are white, circular and have a '10/325' stamp on one side and 'RP' on the other side. Sarnai Police say the presence of counterfeit pharmaceuticals poses a serious threat to community safety and warns about the danger associated with using drugs that aren't prescribed by a physician or pharmacist. 062625 The tablets seized are white in color, circular and have a "10/325" stamp on one side and "RP" on the other side. When to call 911: SPS fight 911 misuse

The Sarnia Police Service is taking part in the 'Clear the Line' campaign, in an effort to combat 911 misuse. Before calling 911, police would like you to ask yourself the following questions: Are you experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening emergency, or are you just looking for assistance? If it is not a life-threatening situation, you are asked to call the SPS' non-emergency line at 519-344-8861 ext. 0. In life-threatening situations, always call 911. Do you want to report a crime that is not currently in progress, and the perpetrator is not present? If you want to report a crime that doesn't include an emergency situation, call the non-emergency line at 519-344-8861 extension 0. If you prefer, online reports can be made here. If there is a crime in progress, call 911. Do you want to provide feedback about the police service? Giving feedback is not a reason to call 911. You are asked to offer feedback here or call the front desk officer at 519-344-8861 ext. 0. The Sarnia police urge you to only use 911 in life-threatening or health related emergencies or to report a crime that is currently in progress. In all other situations, the non-emergency line should be used. 'There are many reasons you may want or need to speak with police,' the SPS wrote in a social media post. 'Not all reasons justify a call to 911.'
