'Madras Matinee' locks OTT release date: Here's when and where to watch the Kaali Venkat starrer online
Picture Credit: X After receiving a mixed response during its theatrical release on June 6, the heartfelt drama Madras Matinee is now set to make its way to the digital space. The platform announced the release of the film with a warm message on social media, calling the film "a tribute to the unsung heroes around us. " OTT release details The film will begin streaming on SUN NXT on July 4. Sharing the poster of the film, the OTT platform on X wrote, "Every street has a story. Every home, a heartbeat! Madras Matinee is a tribute to the unsung heroes around us — fathers who sacrifice, families who hold on, and dreams that rise from everyday lives." A story of an ordinary Directed by Karthikeyan Mani , 'Madras Matinee' gives an honest, sometimes funny view of the everyday and often tough lives of the working class without idealizing their struggles. The story focuses on an ageing sci-fi writer, Jyoti Ramayya, played by Sathyaraj , who is urged by his caretaker to write about the common man rather than fantasy. Hesitantly, he tells the story of Kannan portrayed by Kaali Venkat , an auto driver and garbage collector from a lower-middle-class family. Though Jyoti suggests that such lives can be boring and repetitive, Kannan's story quickly shows a different perspective. Kannan and his wife Shelly, played by Shelly Kishore, are depicted as hardworking people who strive to create a happy life for their family. Their hopes for their children's financial independence and a better future are central to the story. The film shows the real struggles and small victories of Kannan's family. The film features Kaali Venkat, Roshini Haripriya, Shelly Kishore, Sathyaraj, Vishva, George Maryan, and Sunil Sukhada , among others. The performances, especially those of Kaali Venkat and Sathyaraj, have been praised for making the story feel authentic.

Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie's Hindi version titled 'Coolie The Powerhouse'
With just 50 days to go for the release of director Lokesh Kanakaraj 's eagerly awaited action thriller 'Coolie', featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, the makers of the film on Thursday announced that the Hindi version of the film had now been titled as 'Coolie The Powerhouse'. Sun Pictures, the production house that is producing the film,on Thursday released a new poster from the film to highlight the fact that the film was 50 days away from its release. Releasing the poster on its X handle, Sun Pictures wrote, "Deva's rage begins in 50 days! #CoolieIn50Days #Coolie in Hindi is now #CoolieThePowerhouse. #Coolie releasing worldwide August 14th." It may be recalled that a few days ago, a section of the media had claimed that the Hindi version of the film had been titled 'Majdoor'. However, the Hindi title evoked a mixed response from netizens on social media. Sun Pictures, on Thursday, announced that the Hindi version would now be called 'Coolie The Powerhouse'. 'Coolie', which is expected to be an action thriller, will, apart from Rajinikanth, feature a number of top stars including Telugu star Nagarjuna, Kannada star Upendra, Malayalam star Soubin Shahir and Tamil star Sathyaraj. The makers of director Lokesh Kanakaraj's eagerly awaited action extravaganza, 'Coolie', featuring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, on Tuesday dropped a cool promo for 'Chikitu', the upcoming music video from the film which is to release on Wednesday.
