Predator Lurking Near School Caught & Jailed, Kuwait Takes Strong Stand
KUWAIT CITY, July 23: The Second Circuit of the Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Nasr Salem Al-Haid and including Judges Saud Al-Sanea and Tariq Metwally, has upheld a five-year hard labor prison sentence for a man convicted of repeatedly harassing and molesting female high school students. The defendant faced charges from the Public Prosecution for indecent assault, including inappropriate physical contact, persistent harassment, and attempting to lure a minor into immoral acts. The case came to light after he targeted a high school girl outside an association's branch, touching her without consent. Initially dismissing it as accidental, the victim realized his intent when he repeated the act and later pressured her to add him on Snapchat while making inappropriate advances. Upon learning of the incident, the victim's father filed a formal complaint. Surveillance footage revealed the accused loitering near the school branch, deliberately targeting schoolgirls in uniform (particularly high school students) before following and assaulting them. A police ambush led to his arrest, and during interrogation, he confessed to the crimes, admitting to an "obsession with harassing female students in school uniforms." While the Criminal Court initially sentenced him to five years of hard labor, the Court of Appeal dismissed appeals for a suspended sentence in its first hearing. In a subsequent session, the court affirmed the original ruling, citing the soundness of the lower court's decision and the inadequacy of the defendant's defense.

Kuwait Court Confirms Not Guilty Verdict In ISIS Affiliation Charges
KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The Second Circuit of the Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Nasr Salem Al-Haid with Judges Saud Al- Sanea and Tariq Metwally as members, upheld the acquittal of three Tunisians of belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS on Wednesday. The Public Prosecution had earlier charged the three Tunisians with joining ISIS, pledging allegiance to the leaders of the organization, and planning to bomb Shiite mosques and Husainiyats in Kuwait and kill the worshippers therein. Case files indicate that the accused were trained in making firecrackers before being arrested by the State Security officers at the Ministry of Interior. The Criminal Court acquitted the defendants, based on the prevailing legal and jurisprudential principle that punishment is not imposed for the stage of contemplating and reflecting on a crime. This is because as long as the intention remains within the mind and has not been revealed to the outside world, it poses no harm or danger. It stated that the investigations and documents were devoid of any evidence that would prove the defendants' participation in the organization, and that despite their knowledge of the purpose for which this organization works, that is not sufficient to establish the crime of joining a banned organization, which is the subject of the accusation. It pointed out that this crime does not occur simply by the defendants meeting and repeating the pledge of allegiance to the leaders of the organization in their homes.

Court Jails Kuwaiti for Smuggling 28,000 Cans of Vietnamese Beer Disguised as Energy Drinks
KUWAIT CITY, May 21: The Court of Appeal, presided over by Counselor Nasr Salem Al-Haid and comprising Counselors Saud Al-Sanea and Tariq Metwally, sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to prison for smuggling over 28,000 bottles of alcohol from Vietnam, while acquitting the remaining defendants in the case. The Public Prosecution had charged five individuals with illegally importing beer for selling in Kuwait, in violation of Kuwaiti law and without paying the necessary customs duties. According to the testimony of a customs inspector, the incident began when a container arriving from Vietnam was declared to contain energy drinks. Upon inspection, however, the officer discovered cardboard boxes labeled as energy drinks that concealed cans of alcoholic beer. The container was then sealed, and a coordinated operation with the anti-narcotics department led to an ambush. The primary suspect, identified as the owner of the company receiving the shipment, was arrested. The second and third suspects were later summoned and confessed to importing alcohol from Vietnam, revealing that the primary accused had been engaged in similar activities for several years.

Kuwait court sentences oil company engineers in public funds fraud case
KUWAIT CITY, April 16: The Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Nasr Salem Al-Haid and including Judges Saud Al-Sanea and Tariq Jad Ali, has sentenced employees of the Kuwait Oil Company, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, and affiliated contracting firms to seven years in prison. The charges stem from their involvement in facilitating the illegal seizure of public funds through the use of fraudulent work orders. According to the Public Prosecution, the primary defendant, an engineer at the Kuwait Oil Company, along with the second and third defendants, both engineers at the Petroleum Corporation, were found guilty of enabling the unlawful appropriation of KD 228,864. This sum was allegedly seized by two trading and contracting companies owned by their employer. The defendants were accused of signing 73 fictitious work orders falsely confirming that the two companies had completed assigned tasks, as documented in those orders. In reality, no such work had been carried out. The fraudulent documentation was intended to facilitate the companies' unlawful acquisition of the specified funds.
