Saudi Reef Celebrates Graduation of 20 Projects from Rural Entrepreneurship Program
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, has celebrated the graduation of 20 innovative projects from its Rural Entrepreneurship Program. These projects emerged from two specialized business incubators dedicated to agritourism and rural development, representing a key milestone in the program's mission to foster entrepreneurship across eight priority sectors. Empowering Rural Communities Saudi Reef spokesperson Majid Al-Buraikan highlighted the significance of the achievement, noting that the graduating projects are poised to make a meaningful impact on rural economies. He emphasized that the initiative is helping to empower rural communities by promoting innovative business models, generating new income streams, and creating job opportunities for small-scale producers. Al-Buraikan also shared that the program hosted eight training camps across various regions of the Kingdom, engaging over 200 entrepreneurial projects and ideas in rural tourism, agricultural ventures, and value-added processing industries. Saudi program expands support in rural communities
RIYADH: The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, has announced that it now has 87,235 beneficiaries across the Kingdom. This is a part of efforts to promote economic and social stability in rural areas and support agricultural workers and families involved in cottage industries, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. Majed Al-Buraikan, Saudi Reef's assistant secretary-general for media and communication, said the support from the nation's leadership has helped to expand the number of beneficiaries and achieve tangible results. He said this reflects the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector and develop rural areas, the SPA added. Al-Buraikan said the program has several main pillars, including developing agricultural and livestock production, empowering rural women, and supporting small-scale fishermen. The program also focuses on adding value to products which was key to sustainable rural development and boosting the income of families across the regions, he added. Al-Buraikan said Saudi Reef continues to provide direct support, training, and certification programs aimed at improving quality of life in rural areas. This was in addition to increasing the agricultural sector's contribution to the nation's gross domestic product, in line with the goals of Vision 2030, he said.

Saudi program to train rural women in leathercraft
RIYADH: The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, has launched its first vocational empowerment training in leather industries for rural women in Al-Kharj governorate. The program aims to promote entrepreneurship and support the national economy in line with Vision 2030 goals, the Saudi Press Agency reported. It provides rural women with practical skills in leather manufacturing to help develop their small businesses and improve the marketing of their products. Majed Al-Buraikan, Saudi Reef assistant secretary-general for media and communication, said 15 rural women are participating in the training, which covers value-added leather production, design, product diversification, quality control, and business management. The program includes training in business planning, cost management, marketing, and branding to help participants establish viable ventures, according to SPA. Recently, the UN World Tourism Organization recognized Saudi Reef's role in supporting sustainable development through its link with rural tourism. Basmah Al-Mayman, UNWTO Middle East director, in a letter to Saudi Reef Secretary-General Ghassan Bakri commended the program for organizing rural tourism events in various regions of the Kingdom. UNWTO expressed interest in collaborating with Saudi Reef on initiatives focused on sustainable community development and rural tourism.

Additionally, the program has introduced renewable-energy-powered desalination and climate-controlled technologies to overcome regional agricultural constraints. During the Rose and Aromatic Plants Global Forum in Taif, Saudi Reef distributed 15,000 tissue-cultured seedlings to promote sustainability and boost production. The forum featured sessions on the challenges of Taif rose cultivation, the future of medical tourism in the Kingdom, and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing product quality.
