Ohio State football extends offer to younger brother of current Buckeye superstar

Ohio State football extends offer to younger brother of current Buckeye superstar He's still in school, and in fact will only be a sophomore, but Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith may already be the best pass catcher to ever wear the Scarlet and Gray. That's a bold statement for a guy who has only played one year in college, but the tape doesn't lie when you turn it on. He just polished off the best freshman campaign of any receiver to ever run out of the tunnel on the banks of the Olentangy. He has a rare blend of work ethic, size, hands, speed, and body control that only comes around maybe once in a generation. But wait. If these sorts of things run in the family because of family genetics, then maybe there's another "generational" receiver on the way. On Tuesday, the Buckeyes offered Smith's younger brother, Angelo Smith because, well -- maybe the fruit doesn't fall far from the Buckeye tree. Out of the same high school as his brother, Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood, Florida, Smith is still making a name for himself. He's listed as an athlete, but is currently a safety playing in South Florida and has yet to really garner the attention of the major recruiting services. In fact, according to 247Sports, he is ranked as the No. 29 safety and 32nd prospect in the state of Florida as a 3-star recruit. It's still awfully early to get excited about anyone in the 2027 class, and it's not even clear if the younger Smith even likes it in Columbus and wants to play for the Buckeyes, but we'll continue to stay on top of his recruitment as things progress. Don't be surprised if his rankings start to climb after the OSU offer. Ohio State basketball welcomes in former players to work out with current roster

Ohio State basketball welcomes in former players to work out with current roster One of the great things about being at Ohio State is all of the former athletes who have made it to the pros coming back to mingle and be around the program. And we're not just talking about football, though that's been where most of the traffic has come from through the most recent of years. Don't forget, despite this downturn in the OSU basketball program, the Buckeye hoopsters have a very good tradition themselves as well. You know a head coach really gets it when he invites those who used to don the Scarlet and Gray back to town to interact and work out with the current roster, and Jake Diebler fits that bill. In fact, Monday just so happened to be one of those days when Ohio State welcomed in some of those OSU legends to be a part of Vet camp. The current players got to play with, and be coached by the likes of Greg Oden, D'Angelo Russell, and E.J. Liddell. It was also a chance to see some of the newcomers interact with the current team and former players. Transfers Gabe Cupps, Christoph Tilly, and Brandon Noel were sweating it out alongside freshmen A'mare Bynum and Myles Herro. Germany product Mathieu Grujicic was also there, but things are still being worked out with his eligibility and visa, according to Eleven Warriors, so he was an innocent bystander. Ohio State is looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament after missing out three straight years. There is a good mix of veteran scorers and incoming talent, so the hope is that all of it comes together to make a run and get back to where the program belongs. Get a look at former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard throw deep balls to youth campers

Get a look at former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard throw deep balls to youth campers Has there been a quarterback in Ohio State football history who made an impact on the fanbase like Will Howard? He said all the right things, showed passion and leadership, and it didn't hurt that his one year in the Scarlet and Gray resulted in a College Football Playoff national championship. On top of it all, he gets the big picture and has no problem giving back in the community. The latest example of that was seen this past weekend when he visited former teammate Jack Sawyer's youth camp in Pickerington, Ohio, to be a part of all the fun with some of the youth that made it out to the festivities. One of the funniest -- and cutest -- moments was captured on film by local Columbus CBS affiliate WBNS 10TV, Adam King when Howard huddled up with an offense of only receivers apparently and told them to go deep. Some funny comments about Jeremiah Smith ensued and Howard completed a pass to one of the myriad of youth receivers. In the huddle pre-snap, Howard tells the kids, "Everybody run into the end zone as fast as you can. Be like Jeremiah Smith, alright," said Howard. "But no catching with one hand," quipped one of the campers who found agreement among others. "Yeah, no catching with one hand because ... we're not Jeremiah Smith," Howard replied in agreement. The current Pittsburgh Steeler then lobbed a long pass that was caught and celebrated. Watch the short interaction below and let a little smile form in amusement. You have to love this. Howard will forever be a champion on and off the field. Don't bet against him doing some of the same things in Pittsburgh that he was able to do on the banks of the Olentangy once his NFL career begins to heat up. WATCH: Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson shares why he wears No. 32

WATCH: Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson shares why he wears No. 32 Buckeye Nation will always have fond memories of former running back TreVeyon Henderson. He came to Ohio State as the No. 1 running back in the country according to some recruiting services and quickly flashed on the scene, running for over 1,000 yards during his freshman campaing. He was besieged by nagging injuries the next two seasons but battled his way through it to still be a very productive back, and then finished things off last year by going over 1,000 yards again, all while splitting time with Ole Miss transfer running back Quinshon Judkins. It all culminated in taking home the first expanded 12-team College Football Playoff national championship. If you watched Ohio State the last four seasons, we don't have to tell you what number Henderson wore when toting the rock in the Scarlet and Gray. His No. 32 was very recognizable except for the times when he was a blur breaking off explosive plays out of the backfield. But did you know the reason he donned the No. 32, ever since he was basically in Pee-Wee football? Watch as Henderson explains why he wore his number of choice and continues to wear it with his new team, the New England Patriots. It has everything to do with his grandfather and honoring him. Henderson grew tremendously at Ohio State both on and off the field. He went from becoming an electric and fast runner to perhaps the best blocking back in the NFL draft. He also developed into a great option in the passing game out of the backfield. More than that, he became a leader because of his faith and growth as a person. Ohio State, other teams to be compensated based on game usage in 'College Football 26'

Ohio State, other teams to be compensated based on game usage in 'College Football 26' Not only is the game of college football undergoing seismic changes, but so too, apparently, is the popular EA Sports college football franchise. The game came back from a major ten-year hiatus last year with the release of "College Football 25." You can thank Name, Image and Likeness, and the ability to compensate individual players for the inclusion in the game for the renaissance, and we all celebrated. Now, as things evolve, it appears as though schools will be paid differently for their participation in "College Football 26." Players were already compensated last season and will continue to be so with an elevated amount this season. But for this year, teams won't get a fee based on tier levels from the AP's Top 25 poll, but instead the pay will be tied to how often each of the 136 teams in the game is used, at least according to a report from Matt Liberman. The next iteration of the game is set to be released on July 10, and if those reports are true, Ohio State should benefit greatly. Though raw numbers aren't available, the Buckeyes have arguably the biggest and most followed fanbase in the sport, and there's no doubt that there's a lot of Scarlet and Gray on video game screens across the video game universe. 'For each CFB product released by EA SPORTS, we (CLC Learfield) will provide a percentage for each institution based on the games played for that institution as a percentage of the total games played across all institutions," a document obtained by Liberman stated. "This percentage of games played will become the final allocation percentage for each school that will be applied to the total gross royalties for all institutions received.' If you are like us, you can't wait to get your chance to play college football again on an Xbox Series X/S or a Playstation 5. Just remember to use Ohio State so the school maxes out its royalties for the game. I mean, every little bit helps, right?
