Aymen Mahmoud: ‘Leadership is about helping other people shine'
A ymen Mahmoud does not match the hard-nosed, money-driven, master-of-the-universe image of a City lawyer. He professes to value kindness and authenticity, seeks to make others shine and is happy to tell his team that he sees a therapist.
Last June, at 39, Mahmoud was appointed as the London managing partner of McDermott Will & Emery, making him the youngest leader at a top 30 US practice in the City.
A year later, the firm, which is based in Chicago, has recorded record turnover, passing the $100 million mark for the first time, announced a merger with Schulte Roth & Zabel that will create a business with over $2.8 billion in turnover, and revealed plans to move to the Mayfair premises of the former Fenwick department store.
