In a move certain to please supporters in West Lothian, 19-year-old Tait is to rejoin the club he helped gain Premiership promotion last term. He will not travel to Spain for Hearts' pre-season training camp on Saturday after signing the loan agreement. Instead, he is due to board Livingston's flight to the Netherlands on Sunday. The Edinburgh News revealed David Martindale's interest in re-signing Tait two days ago. The Livingston manager would like to sign Tait permanently if possible but Hearts do not want to lose him and would only permit a loan at this stage. The season-long agreement includes a break clause in January, allowing the Edinburgh club to recall the player if they wish. Tait signed a new four-year contract at Tynecastle Park last year and is committed to his parent club until 2028. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Martindale is a huge admirer having initially taken the teenager on loan in January. Tait, a Riccarton youth academy graduate, featured 23 times for Livi last season and became a key member of their team in the Scottish Championship. His influence helped them successfully negotiate the play-offs to earn promotion back to the Premiership at the first attempt. Derek McInnes, the new Hearts head coach, is still assessing the first-team squad after his appointment last month. There is strong competition for Tait's favoured midfield role in the shape of senior players Beni Baningime, Cammy Devlin, Calem Nieuwenhof, Aidan Denholm and new signing Oisin McEntee. The youngster has taken the opportunity to make a move which should see him play regular Premiership football in the months ahead. A statement issued by Hearts read: 'Macaulay Tait has completed a season-long loan move to Livingston. The midfielder returns to West Lothian, subject to Scottish FA approval, following a successful spell there during the second half of last season. 'He featured 23 times for the Lions, helping them to a second-placed Championship finish. Livingston would go on to play-off success, with Macaulay playing in both the semi-final and final victories, which saw Livi secure promotion to this season's Premiership. What will Mulligan bring to Hibs?

After loan spells at Cove Rangers and Peterhead, Josh Mulligan's breakthrough campaign at Dundee came in played 42 times in all competitions to help the club win the Championship title and return to the only played 23 times the following season under Tony Docherty, but was a more important part of the side least his best game came against Hibernian in a 4-1 win at Dens Park in as a right wing-back, he consistently used his strength and rangy stride to power down the flank, causing havoc for the Hibs defence."I'm quite a powerful player, I'd say," Mulligan said. "I'm good with the ball at my feet, I like running at players."I create chances but I also have that other side of my game as well, I'm happy to get stuck in, which is needed in this league."I can't explain how happy I am to be here."At just 22, Mulligan has played a decent number of senior games and has plenty of experience of the Premiership, and often stood out playing for the Scotland under-21s due to his early exposure to first-team football.

Former Hearts winger Jamie Walker has pledged to immerse himself in new club Grimsby Town after signing a two-year contract. The English League Two side secured Walker's services following his release by Bradford City at the end of the season. Now 32, Walker enjoyed three years at Bradford after leaving formative club Hearts in 2022. He helped them gain promotion to League One last season and will now continue his career in Lincolnshire. He is determined to embrace the opportunity at Grimsby. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I'm somebody who will buy into the football club,' he told Town's official website. 'You will see me training and you will see me day-to-day - I come to new football clubs and I give it my all. I'm always all-in. I'm never half-hearted. Hopefully, with that I can bring some quality and a few goals and assists. 'I'm delighted to be here. I'm looking forward to getting on the training pitch and showing everyone what I can do. I know what the league brings and what you need to be successful at this level, so hopefully I can bring that in abundance and help the team on the pitch.' The Grimsby head coach David Artell explained that he was attracted by Walker's big-game experience. The player featured in cup finals and European matches with Hearts and played in crucial promotion fixtures at Bradford. 'Jamie's an experienced player and someone who's played at big clubs and can perform on big occasions,' said Artell. 'He's a great character, I'm really looking forward to working with him and I'm hoping he can have a fruitful season on the pitch and a really big influence off it as well.' From Scotland to England and EFL success Walker graduated from the Riccarton youth academy to sign a professional Hearts contract in 2011. He made 240 senior appearances across two spells in maroon either side of a brief spell at Wigan Athletic. A childhood Hearts fan, he scored 54 goals in total for the club and helped them win the Scottish Championship title in both 2015 and 2021. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad He made 125 appearances and claimed 32 goal contributions during three years at Bradford, becoming a popular figure with supporters there. His time at The Valley came to an end when the club decided not to renew his contract in May. However, he hopes his experience of helping achieve promotion there can now benefit Grimsby. 'Experience is a big thing from getting promoted previously at this level,' he said. 'Last year at Bradford, they brought in people who had been and done it, so hopefully I can bring that here and we can have a successful season. I look back on it with great memories. Finally getting promoted to League One was a great season and the celebrations after were a great few weeks. 'Hopefully I can come here and use that experience that I have of getting promoted and get more of the same. You know it's never an easy match when you come here. If you let Grimsby get a foothold in the game, it can become very difficult when they get the fans behind them. That's my style of play as well and I'll be looking to try to do that. Hopefully we can have a good season. The way the team play and the way I fit in suits me down to a tee and I was delighted to get it done.'

Derry City boss Tiernan Lynch hails new signing as ‘something different'

The 27-year-old ex-Airdrie captain has signed an 18-month contract at the Brandywell, and becomes the first new signing of the summer transfer window. It is expected to be the first of several changes at the club with Lynch hoping to strengthen his squad considerably in the coming weeks. Frizell, he believes, is a good start. 'He's a lad who we feel is going to come in and add something very different to what we have,' he said. 'He's technically very good and he will play in behind our midfielders and hopefully open doors and try and find the likes of Mickey Duffy and Gavin Whyte and our forwards, so it's exciting.' 'He's played in the Scottish Championship for the last number of years, and he's played for a team that unfortunately struggled in their position in the table, but he got big numbers for them, especially in assists. He's a lad who likes to get on the ball; he's very brave and he plays in tight pockets and tight spaces, which is obviously what this league is all about. We're really excited at getting Adam in and he'll fit in perfectly to what we want to do and where we want to go.' Frizzell meanwhile, has said his ambition to challenge himself at a higher level was the key reason behind his move to the Brandywell. The midfielder scored 17 goals in 169 appearances during his four years at the Scottish Championship club but he is now keen to try something new, with the prospect of challenging for silverware and European football in a brand-new league the motivating factor behind his decision. 'I'm coming into what everyone says are your prime years,' he said. 'I had some injuries when I was young and I've managed to stay injury free for four years now; I've played pretty much every game, so it was time for me to come and make the step up and I'm looking forward to seeing how I fare out.' 'I got a very small taste of (European football) at Kilmarnock when I was very young, when we actually went out in the first round to a Welsh team. That's what you dream of when you're young so it was a real selling point. Not only that, I don't think I'm being disrespectful in saying that this is probably a step up in general. It's a really tough league now, with a lot of good players in it, so it was time for me to come over and challenge myself and I'm looking forward to doing that.' Midfielder Dom Thomas, who joined the club at the start of the season, has also left the Brandywell and joined Ayr United. The Scot made just 13 appearances and scored one goal.

Derry City bring in Adam Frizzell as Dom Thomas moves on

Derry City have brought in Scottish midfielder Adam Frizzell from Airdrieoneans, while Dom Thomas has departed for Ayr United. Frizzell, 27, has agreed an 18-month contract with the Candystripes and is available for selection from next week. He began his senior career at Kilmarnock and has spells at Livingston, Queen of the South and Dumbarton in Scotland. Frizzell spent the last four years with Airdrioneans making 169 appearances and scoring 17 goals. Thomas only joined City last January from another Scottish Championship side, Queen's Park, but failed to settle in Ireland. The signing of Frizzell is seen as a replacement for Thomas. City face Drogheda United on Friday at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium. They are fourth in the Premier Division table having recorded back-to-back victories in Dublin last Friday and Monday.
