Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site in Musselburgh was awarded Camping Site of The Year at the black-tie event held in Glasgow on June 18. It comes after the popular site was voted Campsite of the Year in the Camping Awards 2024 and also named the best in Scotland by online travel agent Angie Purves, who is the site manager at Drummohr, said: 'We are absolutely delighted to have won this award which reflects the team's passion and dedication to creating a brilliant place for people to come and enjoy a holiday. The family-friendly campsite also has themed wizard, adventure and fairy glamping pods, as well as family bothies and a large playground. The top rated in Musselburgh site was awarded five stars by VisitScotland in 2023 following a £1m refurbishment by its owners WCF. Its restaurant serves up lunch, dinner, and even afternoon tea. All over Scotland, there are countless hotels to suit every style and budget. From high-end city options to peaceful rural retreats, you are never likely to be far from top-quality accommodation. One Scottish restaurant with rooms was recently named Boutique Hotel of the Year at the 2025 Scottish Hospitality Awards. The coveted title went to Victoria Square and The Orangery in Stirling. ‌ Situated in a peaceful area of the city a short distance from Stirling Castle, Victoria Square features 10 en-suite guest bedrooms. These range from single rooms to bigger options with wooden four-poster beds. ‌ The rooms at Victoria Square take inspiration from the Victorian era. They all include hardwood reproduction furniture, as well as modern comforts such as smart flatscreen televisions, Wi-Fi access, and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Meanwhile, The Orangery restaurant offers fine-dining cuisine for both guests at the hotel and non-residents. It serves up lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea. Among the dishes listed on The Orangery's lunch menu are venison pie, rigatoni, and a variety of homemade tarts. Meanwhile, dinner options include Guinea fowl, lasagne, and fillet of sole. In terms of afternoon tea, guests can choose from a selection of sandwiches with fillings such as cucumber, Scottish smoked salmon, and Black Crowdie cheese. Also available are scones and a selection of handmade cakes. In addition to being named Boutique Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality Awards, Victoria Square and The Orangery have won a number of other awards. ‌ The top spot has been recognised by the Scottish Restaurant Awards, The Good Hotel Guide, and VisitScotland. The Daily Record also previously included The Orangery in our roundup of Scotland's top 50 restaurants in 2025. We praised the venue for its "innovative dishes". ‌ On Google, guests have mostly posted positive reviews of Victoria Square. It currently has an average score of 4.6 out of five based on 126 reviews. One guest shared: "We stayed here for a few nights as a base for exploring Stirling and the surrounding area. The room was amazing and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely visit again!" A second posted: "Absolutely perfect to a T. The service is impeccable and everything I expected. ‌ "Rooms are quaint and breakfast room was just lovely. Be sure to book a reservation for dinner at The Orangery—it was exceptional." As reported by the Daily Record, other winners at the Scottish Hospitality Awards include Mamma Mia in Stirling and Linwater Caravan Park. The former was named Restaurant of the Year, while the latter took home the Best Caravan Park prize.

Scotland's 'best day out' is family adventure park with quad bikes and water sports

The centre offers activities for both children and adults. Scotland has no shortage of ways to spend an afternoon, which can make deciding what to do an overwhelming affair. However, one activity centre was recently named the "best day out" in the country. Last week marked the return of the Scottish Hospitality Awards, which celebrate the top businesses around the country across a range of categories. As reported by the Daily Record, the top restaurant and pub in Scotland were named as part of the awards. ‌ Meanwhile, the Best Day Out title was given to Action Adventure Activities near Stirling. The centre, which is nestled along the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, offers a wide range of land and water-based activities. ‌ Action Adventure Activities' is open to both adults and family groups. Its activities, which include quad biking and various water sports, are available to those aged five and up. The centre's quad biking is among its most popular offerings, consisting of one-hour sessions where visitors are led out by an instructor on farmland trails. It also offers 'kids' and 'junior' sessions, catered towards children aged six-to-nine and 10-to-16 respectively. Also on offer is off-road 4×4 driving, where under the supervision of an instructor visitors will be shown how to control an off-road vehicle. Guests will get up to 40 minutes behind the wheel, with sessions lasting up to 90 minutes. In terms of its water sports opportunities, paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking are all available. All are headed by instructors that will teach visitors everything they need to know in a safe and supportive environment. Action Adventure Activities also hosts adventure gorge walking and river tubing sessions. These consist of a dip in a local river, followed by the exploration of various rock pools, waterfalls, and flumes. ‌ Other activities offered by the centre include target sports such as air rifle and pistol shooting, archery, axe throwing, and crossbow. Elsewhere, visitors can take part in climbing and an 'activity trail' that features "both physical and mental obstacles". ‌ According to the Action Adventure Activities website, its adult-based team-building and outdoor activities are ideally suited for groups of friends. It also caters to stag and hen groups and corporate development retreats. Action Adventure Activities has not only been named the Best Day Out at the Scottish Hospitality Awards, but has also earned positive feedback from visitors. At the moment, the centre has an average rating of 4.7 out of five on Google based on 144 reviews. One wrote: "We had a great session of quad biking. Marcus was a fantastic instructor supporting the team through their session and helping us to build confidence on the bikes. ‌ "Would come again for other activities!" A second agreed: "We did the beginners quad biking activity, which was a lot of fun! Really attentive staff keeping us safe, and giving us little challenges to complete."
