Stevie Wonder wows huge crowd with hit-filled performance in Cardiff as he closes Blackweir Live gigs

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Away from all the controversies about the use of Blackweir in Cardiff for gigs, on Wednesday night I consider myself incredibly lucky to have been one of the tens of thousands to be standing in a park I love, in the my home city, listening to the absolute icon that is Stevie Wonder playing some of his classics just metres away from me. He is a global superstar with more accolades my word count will allow me to list, and he was right here on my doorstep, and what a night it was. The sun was shining, the venue was packed and he performed hit after hit after hit. Earlier in the week, as I was cooking dinner I'd asked Alexa to "play Stevie Wonder". For the next hour, every single song that came on was a classic, and seeing most of them live a few days later? Well, that's bucket list stuff. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here . The 75-year-old performed for more than two hours - coming on stage just after 8pm, ending around 10pm, telling the crowd he "had to". Given half the chance, I reckon he'd have carried on, because I can't remember a gig I've seen where the artist was so clearly enjoying every minute. Coming on stage, guided by two of his children, he explained this night was all along the theme of Love, Light & Song - and drew attention to the importance of his outfit choice, a diamante studded jacket - with Martin Luther King on one side and Gandhi on the other. (Image: John Myers) He opened with Love's in Need of Love Today - a sentiment he explained was as important today as it was when released in 1976 and closed with As in between? Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours; Sir Duke and You Are My Sunshine, were highlights. He was presented, mid-show, with an honorary fellowship of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and gave an impassioned speech about his life with sight loss. He told the crowd, "the truth is, shortly after my birth I became blind. That was a blessing because it allowed me to see the world in a vision of trust, see people in the spirit of them, not how they look, not what colour they are, but their spirits". The audience sang, boogied, swayed, and it was amazing to see the variety of ages of people there. Those who have been around for some if not all his career which started in 1962, right through to those much younger who have presumably fallen for the soul singer later in his career. He was joined on stage by his son, and support act Corinne Bailey Rae, they were the only relative breaks he took in the whole set. An impressive feat in a performance that was soulful, full of spirit and little short of beautiful. This was the last of the gigs at Blackweir, although the row over the use of the public land for gigs rumbles on, but the reviews I'd heard beforehand that it was a well organised event were true when it came to getting in, but I would say if they return, I think there's some work to do on the logistics. Downloading tickets has been a problem throughout the series as people struggled to get signal. The area we were in was packed, with huge bar queues, and our plan to eat was scuppered when we saw the massive queues there too. (Image: John Myers) Getting out was a slow affair, with relatively narrow lanes for pedestrians to exit. But even then, you can't say it ruined a night that is one which I'll never forget. A friend said to me as we left 'it was once in a lifetime, wasn't it?" and I can't disagree.

'I'm not f***ing leaving': Josh Allen goes full 'Wolf of Wall Street' at 3AM wedding bash

Josh Allen goes full 'Wolf of Wall Street' at 3AM wedding bash (Image via Getty) NFL superstar Josh Allen turned a wedding celebration into a Hollywood-level spectacle, jumping on stage during his after-party and shouting one of cinema's most iconic lines—just like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street. The moment capped a high-octane night during his wedding weekend with actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld, turning the elegant affair into something legendary. Guests watched in awe as Allen broke into the unexpected outburst late into the night. And just like that, the party reached its wildest peak. From vows to viral– A night that escalated fast The energy had been building for hours, with music thumping and guests crowding the dance floor. Josh Allen, clearly feeding off the late-night hype, made his way to the stage near the live band. With a mic in hand and a grin on his face, he gave zero warning before launching into the line. The entire venue exploded with laughter, cheers, and phones sneaking up despite the ban. 'I'm not leaving… I'm not f!#%ing leaving!'— Josh Allen, quoting The Wolf of Wall Street during the 3 a.m. after-party moment. Held on May 31 at the exclusive San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, the ceremony was intimate and elegant. Soft candlelight, lush white florals, and a no-phone policy kept things romantic and personal. The morning started with lemon ricotta pancakes—Hailee's favorite—breaking tradition sweetly. But as night fell, the tone shifted from serene to electric. A hidden after-party kicked off around midnight, featuring a DJ, cigar bar, and poolside lounge. Classic snacks like grilled cheese, cookies, and milk shots gave it a playful, nostalgic feel. NFL teammates and celebrity guests got rowdy, jumping into the pool fully dressed. Then came Allen's unscripted Belfort impression—turning the night cinematic. "Pure Josh energy": Hailee's favorite wedding moment A ccording to Hailee, that Wolf of Wall Street line summed up Josh's fearless, magnetic vibe. She described it as 'pure Josh energy,' and said it became her favorite memory of the night. The crowd erupted, the music soared, and it felt like something out of a movie. It captured his humor, spontaneity, and big-game presence—off the field. The wedding also featured deeply personal touches: Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' as their exit song, a spontaneous thunderclap during vows, and handwritten notes exchanged before the ceremony. Every detail was tailored to reflect who they are—romantic but never boring. And in that moment, Allen proved he's more than an athlete—he's an experience. Allen wore a sleek Tom Ford tuxedo, while Hailee stunned in a Tamara Ralph corseted gown. Her sheer gloves, pearl accents, and cathedral-length veil added timeless glamor. They looked like stars on a red carpet but stayed grounded in joy and authenticity. It was fashion, fun, and football royalty—all in one unforgettable night. Also read: Is this the new Travis Kelce? Hallmark Star and ‘Ugly Betty' Alum Arrested in Florida

Actor Eric Mabius was arrested in Florida today, new reports reveal. Mabius, who is best known for his lengthy series of Hallmark credits and regular appearances in the early aughts sitcom Ugly Betty, was arrested after an altercation in a Nassau County bar during the early morning hours on Thursday, Feb. 20, according to local CW affiliate WJXT. 🎬 🎬 The Nassau County Sheriff's Office told reporters that the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. at The Goat on Lofton Square Court, an Irish-themed bar in Fernandina Beach, Fla. A police report reviewed by several outlets, including People and The Florida-Times Union, accused Mabius and a 40-year-old woman of creating a disturbance. Law enforcement said the two were intoxicated. Witnesses told the outlet that the dispute peaked after the bartender asked the Signed, Sealed, Delivered star and the unnamed woman to leave when the duo allegedly began spitting on several patrons. The 53-year-old actor has also been accused of pushing another woman to the ground and pulling out 'fistfuls' of her hair. Deputies told WJXT that they separated Mabius and the woman when they arrived on scene but that the actor became 'increasingly belligerent' when he was held outside the bar for questioning. Law enforcement officials also claimed that the actor was generally uncooperative with the investigation. Neither Mabius nor a rep for the actor has publicly addressed the arrest report. 'This type of behavior will not be tolerated in our community, regardless of celebrity status. Our deputies quickly dealt with an uncooperative individual, and we're thankful no one was seriously injured during this unfortunate incident,' Sheriff Bill Leeper said in a statement shared with WJXT. The victim, who remained anonymous in the report, ultimately declined to press charges. Mabius and the woman were then arrested for simple battery and resisting without violence. In addition to his many on-screen credits, Mabius is also a father of two. He shares sons Maxfield, 18, and Rylan, 16, with his wife Ivy Sherman. Next:
