Duo of Cala East project managers win prestigious NHBC Quality award
A duo of Cala project managers have been awarded prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Awards from the National Home Building Council (NHBC). Jordon McKenna and Gavin McCann, project managers for Cala Homes (East), work at Craighall Village in Millerhill, and Queensferry Heights in South Queensferry respectively, have won the prestigious accolade. The annual awards, now in its 45th year are widely considered as the 'Oscars' of the housebuilding industry, and is run by the NHBC, the UK's largest provider of new home warranties and insurance. The highly regarded awards celebrate outstanding work and commitment to ensuring the highest quality across the sector. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Thousands of inspections, with meticulous scoring and detailed verifications, have taken place to determine the 450 winners from a field of circa 8,200 sites, representing the top five per cent of UK site managers. Jordan and Gavin Both Jordon and Gavin will now go on to the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with regional winners then eligible to scoop the national Supreme Award title in January 2026. Jordon McKenna, Project Manager at Cala Homes' Craighill Village, said: 'It's a reflection of the effort and high standards the entire team brings to site every day, and I'm proud to share this recognition with them. It is easy when we're delivering homes of the highest quality, and this award is a fantastic recognition of that fact.' Gavin McCann, Project Manager at Queensferry Heights, said: 'This is the fifth time that I've received this an accolade from the NHBC, and my third for this project which is incredibly exciting. I am proud to be shortlisted alongside Jordon and very much accept this award on behalf of my team who very much deserve the recognition. Queensferry Heights has proven to be a fantastic site with health and safety a top priority, in line with all of Cala's developments.' Site managers honoured with national award for new homes
Gary Carmichael and Connor Mitchell of Miller Homes have each won a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award. This award is given to those who "consistently deliver high-quality new homes." To win this award, site managers have to show their skill in build quality, health and safety, and site management. Of the thousands of site managers assessed across the nation, only 450 were chosen to receive a Quality Award this year. "The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards celebrate those who strive for the highest standards in new home construction, and I'm proud to be recognised alongside so many dedicated professionals. Ystradgynlais housing site manager receives national award
Lee Lewis, who oversees the Maes Y Rhos housing development in Ystradgynlais, has won a Pride in the Job Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for his work with Persimmon Homes. He is one of 15 Persimmon site managers across the UK to receive the award this year. Mr Lewis said: "It's a fantastic feeling to be recognised by the NHBC – and a huge credit to everyone on the team. "At Maes Y Rhos, we take great pride in building homes to the highest standards, and in creating a community that residents will enjoy for years to come. "This award is a great boost and reflects the care we bring to the job every day." The Maes Y Rhos development features three to five-bedroom homes on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with strong transport links to Swansea and the wider region. The NHBC's Pride in the Job competition is a well-regarded industry benchmark for site management excellence. Winners of the Quality Award move forward to the Seal of Excellence stage, with the chance to compete for regional and national honours. Stuart Phillips, managing director for Persimmon West Wales, said: "We're thrilled for Lee and the whole team at Maes Y Rhos. "The quality of work they're delivering speaks for itself, and this recognition from the NHBC is thoroughly deserved. "Lee's dedication and leadership are making a real difference on site and for our customers." The national Pride in the Job Supreme Awards will take place in January 2026.
