Saham Vocational College hosts innovation forum
SAHAM: Saham Vocational College, through its Department of Business Studies, successfully concluded its Second Scientific Research Forum under the theme 'Innovation and Scientific Advancement' in line with 'Oman Vision 2040'.
The forum underscored the critical role of higher education institutions in driving research, fostering creativity and supporting national development.
The event gathered researchers, administrators and innovation enthusiasts from various vocational institutions, creating a dynamic platform for sharing knowledge, presenting applied research and forging partnerships that address Oman's economic and societal priorities. Faculty members presented studies and applied projects aimed at solving real-world challenges and meeting labour market needs.
A key highlight was the student competition, 'Entrepreneurs on the Move,' which promoted entrepreneurial thinking rooted in research and innovation. Students showcased diverse project ideas — from service-oriented solutions to technical innovations — demonstrating their keen understanding of market demands and their ability to transform challenges into opportunities.
Sabhaa al Sareyhi, member of the organising committee, noted: 'The Second Scientific Research Forum reflects the college's strong commitment to promoting research and innovation in line with 'Oman Vision 2040'. It provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange among academics and researchers, focusing on community- and market-driven projects. Student participation in the competition was outstanding, highlighting their creativity and alignment with market needs. The panel discussion on the added value of research further emphasised the importance of collaboration between education and various sectors.'
