The long-running rebel music group played the first of two nights at Limerick's Thomond Park on Friday, with the second night scheduled for Sunday. Thomond Park is the last stop on the band's Final Farewell tour before they retire after more than 60 years performing together. During Friday night's performance, lead vocalist Warfield made a statement about the national broadcaster's treatment of the Wolfe Tones. 'They don't like the Wolfe Tones, do they? We have been blacklisted since Section 31, when Conor Cruise O'Brien brought in that awful, awful legislation to blacklist the Wolfe Tones all over the place.' Warfield was referring to Section 31 of the Broadcasting Authority Act, which was introduced during the Troubles to restrict those associated with paramilitary organisations from the airwaves. Warfield has long spoken about not having their music played on the radio going back to Section 31 being introduced in 1971. "We're retiring this year, we don't give a sh*t,' Warfield said.'Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they can blacklist us all they like now, we don't care.' He said the band are very proud they 'put up a great fight against RTÉ'. "Their blacklisting of the Wolfe Tones, we're very proud of that. And that's a fight, and that was something not just for us, but for future generations coming along, and that's the important thing.' After Warfield's statement, the band headed into a rendition of their song The Streets of New York. Friday night's Wolfe Tones concert was added as an extra date after the Sunday night show sold out. A crowd of 29,000 concert-goers is expected for the second night.

Northampton hospital's A&E told to make urgent improvements

A hospital has been told to take urgent action to improve its emergency care following concerns about patient safety and waiting General Hospital (NGH) was issued with a formal improvement notice by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a two-day CQC found there were significant delays in ambulance handovers and patients' privacy was being compromised by the use of corridor said it "sincerely apologise to any patients and families who may have been affected". The hospital said it had already changed its procedures, including improving its discharge processes, increasing the checks on patients being looked after in corridors, and raising staffing chief nurse for the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire, Julie Hogg, said: "We fully acknowledge the concerns raised and sincerely apologise to any patients and families who may have been affected."Since the inspection, we have already taken a number of immediate steps to address the issues identified."We have also developed a comprehensive action plan aimed at delivering meaningful and sustainable improvements across our urgent and emergency care services and wider hospital systems." Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the Star Trek: Section 31 digital, 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD release date for CBS Studios' first Star Trek TV movie, starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh. This comes after over a month since the sci-fi adventure movie made its debut on Paramount+. 'In the film, Michelle Yeoh reprises her fan-favorite role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. She joins a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, while facing the sins of her past,' reads the official synopsis. Star Trek: Section 31 will be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting on April 29, 2025. In addition, the movie will also be arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on the same day as its digital release. Besides Yeoh, the cast also includes Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia) and Joe Pingue (The Expanse), with Miku Martineau (Kate) portraying a young Philippa Georgiou.
