WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man is in custody after a dog was shot during an argument Wednesday evening in west Wichita. Police were called to the 8400 block of West Kellogg just after 7 p.m., where a 36-year-old man said someone had shot his dog. Officers spotted the suspected shooter, a 39-year-old man, nearby. When they tried to question him, he ran. 'An act of pure evil': Five dogs brutally killed in Montgomery County After a brief foot chase, officers took him into custody. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for aggravated assault, additional charges, and a warrant from the Kansas Department of Corrections. The injured dog was taken to an emergency animal hospital. Its condition is unknown. Police say the shooting followed a dispute between the two men. Their connection is still under investigation. Wichita North High teacher arrested on unlawful sexual relations with student: police

A 30-year-old art teacher at Wichita North High School remained jailed Friday night after being arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual relations between a teacher and student who is 16 or older, officials said. She was arrested Thursday in southwest Wichita, records show, and booked into Sedgwick County Jail at 3:33 p.m. that day. She has been placed on paid, administrative leave, a USD 259 spokesperson said. Wichita Police started investigating after getting a call at 10:38 a.m. Monday 'about an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student,' police said. The Eagle does not identify suspects until they have been charged.
