Our Movie – K-drama Episode 10 Recap & Review

Episode 10 Episode 10 of Our Movie begins with Je-ha once again reimagining a scene from the remake. Seo-yeong claims he had better choose her as she will be the one who stays by his side. It cuts to Je-ha being alone, presumably after Da-eum's death. At present, Da-eum gives her monologue on why the film is important to her. It starts snowing and they wrap up for the day. This leads to everyone discussing and gossiping about this revelation. Agent Go believes the movie is going to blow up and tries to get Seo-yeong to leave but she refuses. Dr Kim confides in Je-ha that Da-eum's condition has gotten worse and she has been hiding it. Cheol-min's clique worries about their fate should Da-eum die in the middle of the shoot. AD Hong finds Jun-byoung crying as he feels that he has failed Da-eum as a manager. The location has been snowed in by the next morning and Je-ha announces a break. Da-eum blames herself but he promises that they will finish the film. Investor Han wants to replace Je-ha and shows up with Director Park. Some crew members have already leaked Da-eum's illness to the internet and Je-ha is under fire for using her. Han threatens to pull the funding but even Seung-won hesitates to bring the sleazy Park aboard. Reporter Noh lurks around for more gossip and refuses to remove Seo-yeong's name from his articles. Upset, Agent Go breaks his camera. Cheol-min quits, refusing to use Da-eum or his colleagues for the sake of a film. As everyone leaves the location, most of the crew quits. Je-ha drinks with Seung-won who feels sorry but doesn't understand Je-ha's motives. Je-ha reveals that all of Du-young's films have been written by Eun-ae, his mother and he wants to expose the truth. Seung-won is upset as this will ruin Je-ha. Back in the city, Jae-in regrets her harsh words to Da-eum. Director Park wants Agent Go's help in kicking Je-ha out from the film. Cheol-min's latest director badmouths Da-eum and he shuts him down. But he doesn't answer Je-ha's calls. The only ones who remain are AD Hong, Jun-byoung and Gyu-young who hang out in Da-eum's hospital room. Je-ha tries to take out a loan to finish the film. He then visits Da-eum and they talk about how they both gave each other strength. In a nearby restaurant, Gyu-young, Hong and Jun-byoung have dinner. Hong is writing a screenplay and Jun-byoung is in awe. He keeps flirting with her and Gyu-young runs off. Je-ha and Da-eum watch a movie by Du-young and find a teary-eyed Jin-yeo in the theater as well. He finally tells Da-eum Jin-yeo's story. Flashbacks show that Jin-yeo and Eun-ae are friends. Jin-yeo knows that Du-young is stealing his wife's scripts. She pushes Eun-ae to ask for credit for 'Love in White' but Du-young refuses. Jin-yeo threatens to expose him and he creates rumours of their affair. Jin-yeo doesn't want to work with him anymore but Eun-ae begs her to act in 'Love in White' for her sake. She also requests Jin-yeo to tell Je-ha the truth when it is time. At present, Je-ha tells Da-eum that he has finally understood Eun-ae's 'Love in White'. They end up talking about their first impressions of each other and banter. They also thank each other for helping each other change for the better. At lunch, Da-eum eats with Seo-yeong while Je-ha goes around town, appealing to all the crew members. He promises Cheol-min that he is ready to be responsible for every crew member. Seung-won is at a loss on how to bring back the investors. Je-ha tells him to use him and the producer begrudgingly calls Reporter Noh When Je-ha gets back to the hospital, Da-eum is in the middle of a seizure. Dr Lee wonders if it is enough for Je-ha to leave her. They talk about loving those who are bound to leave them behind. Je-ha confesses that he will never forget his mother, and won't forget Da-eum either. Seeing his sincerity, Dr Lee begs him to finish the movie for Da-eum's sake; it is the only way they can help her dream come true. At the end of Our Movie Episode 10, a sad Dr Lee Da-eum discharges her and Je-ha brings her to his family home. Most of the crew members, like Cheol-min, are back and she is touched. She runs out crying and confides in Je-ha that she is not ready to die. He tears up as he hugs her. It cuts to their tree that we see at the beginning of the show. The Episode Review Our Movie Episode 10 brings back the same philosophical musings on loving a dying person and the moral dilemma of casting a terminally ill patient in a movie about a terminally ill patient. While we had mostly seen Je-ha and Da-eum's take on this ethical discourse, this chapter gives us multiple perspectives from the selfish Investor Han to Jun-byoung who worries about Da-eum rather than the movie. Cheol-min speaks for most as he brings up another angle – the risk that applies to the crew's livelihood should Da-eum die and shut down the movie. This major conflict is also purely resolved courtesy of that impressive character development that Je-ha has gotten. He starts out as a selfish and stubborn man who only cares about himself, then the movie, then Da-eum and finally the crew members. But we still cannot get over the major blunder that was Namkoong Min's acting in the first 8 episodes. Je-ha isn't robotic and stoic anymore but his quiet internal conflict and moping are still very him. He is playful, he genuinely smiles, he is animated in his conversations and he cries. All of this makes him relatable, even though he is still quite reserved and closed off. This just proves that Namkoong could have acted the same way in the beginning when Je-ha was going through his artistic slump. Our Movie – K-drama Episode 9 Recap & Review

Episode 9 Episode 9 of Our Movie begins with Je-ha reimagining a scene with him, Da-eum and Seo-yeong. After the bookstore confrontation, Seo-yeong advises Je-ha to dump Da-eum before she dies and he simply nods. He realises that this is not how Hyun-sang, the male lead, would behave. At present, Da-eum and Je-ha talk about the ethics of being in love while one person is dying. They are holding hands when they run into Camerman Cheol-min, Makeup Artist Jo, AD Hong and Jun-byoung. Our couple covers up by claiming they are location scouting but Jun-byoung doesn't buy it. Gyu-young too figures out the identity of the mystery kisser as she finds tons of videos of Je-ha in Da-eum's camera. Filming continues and Je-ha reimagines himself in all the happy scenes with Da-eum. Soon, it is the rehearsal for the break-up scene. Jo and Cheol-min watch our couple and wonder if there is indeed something going on. It is also Eun-ho's last day and Cheol-min allows him to shoot the scene. Je-ha feels like something is missing. In the original movie, Hyun-sang truly loves Gyu-won and she lives. He decides to take out the break-up and bring back Hyun-sang's love. Everyone approves of this change and Je-ha too is happy with the new scene. Meanwhile, Reporter Noh meets with Seung-won who shuts him down. Turns out, the producer is Noh's source as he warns him to stick to the rumours he feeds him. Annoyed, Noh goes to Agent Go with the hospital photo. But Seo-yeong's words on sincerity have struck a chord and she too turns him down. Noh is at his wits' end when he remembers Jae-in. After the day's wrap, Da-eum sends off Eun-ho. Her farewell is ominous but he assures her they will meet again. She looks sad and Je-ha comforts her after Eun-ho leaves. They goof around as Je-ha pretends to be jealous. Da-eum brings up the changed scene and he reveals that he can finally understand Hyun-sang loving a dying woman. Pleasantly surprised, she wonders if Je-ha will also keep the original ending. However, he still isn't sure why his mother let the heroine live and they agree to figure it out together. Later, Seo-yeong meets with Je-ha and comments that he looks happier and relaxed. Like her character, she wonders if his feelings are out of love or pity. He insists that it is love and advises her not to do anything that would eat at her conscience. Elsewhere, Da-eum finds Jae-in waiting for her. The latter still doesn't understand why Da-eum is getting everything on a platter. She rants about Da-eum not having to worry about her diet, getting the director's attention and even having a bigger room. She storms off while Da-eum looks uncomfortable. Noh finally publishes articles on Da-eum and Je-ha's relationship. With Jae-in's help, he also adds a nepotism angle. Turns out, she shared a photo of Da-eum entering Je-ha's hotel room. Dr Lee is troubled and it doesn't help that Da-eum's latest check-up results don't look good. Investor Han is upset as his company is being investigated for nepotism as well. Even Agent Go is worried, as the comments also accuse Seo-yeong of sleeping with Je-ha to get cast in his debut movie. On set, Jung-woo blames Agent Go for the articles but Seo-yeong surprisingly defends her. It just so happens that she saw Jae-in take the photo of Da-eum and Je-ha. She shuts down Jae-in's gossiping and calls her out for targeting a fellow actress. Gyu-young decides to visit Da-eum while her mother checks on Dr Lee. At lunch, Jun-byoung tries to protect Da-eum from the crew's gossiping when Gyu-young shows up. She instantly gets to work, cheering up Da-eum and also recording Jae-in's call with Noh where the rookie actress warns the reporter to keep her name anonymous. Seo-yeong finally approaches Da-eum. She accepts that she was jealous but she also understands Da-eum. They agree to make it till the end together. Next, Seung-won confronts Je-ha and we learn that not only the producer, but also Investor Han knows about Da-eum. Je-ha secretly filmed her second audition in which they talk about her terminal illness. He gave it to Seung-won and Han to guarantee funding. Je-ha confesses that he is in love and begs for Seung-won's help. Seung-won is frustrated but promises to do his best. Je-ha finds Da-eum at the beach and blames himself for everything gone wrong. Da-eum points out that she too used him for her dreams. She promises she can handle a little scandal. They agree to go through whatever happens next, together. That night, Dr Kim rushes to the set and frantically searches for Da-eum. Agent Go runs into him and looks sad as she seems to have figured out Da-eum's secret. Han calls Seung-won and orders him to drop Je-ha or he will lose the funding. At the end of Our Movie Episode 9, Je-ha and Da-eum decide to come clean to the crew. Je-ha confesses that he loves her and she reveals that she is dying. The crew is in shock while Je-ha and Da-eum smile at each other. The Episode Review With this being the penultimate week, Our Movie Episode 9 ties up most of the plotlines and wraps up major conflicts, readying viewers for what is definitely going to be a heartbreaking finale. Most of the characters are in one place including Gyu-young, Agent Go and Seung-won. The rumours have reached their peak with Je-ha and Da-eum's relationship being leaked to the public. Seo-yeong's stance becomes clear as she gets over her internal dilemma and sides with Da-eum. And Je-ha and Da-eum decide to brave the world together by taking control of the narrative. This new lively, playful and confident Je-ha is definitely a much better version of the K-drama's male lead and Namkoong seems to have finally found his footing (after 8 episodes). If only he had gone with this portrayal from the beginning… In fact, the highlight of this chapter isn't the scandal, confession or the script change but Je-ha's duplicitous nature. If memory serves, in the second audition round, he explicitly asks if Da-eum is okay with him using her illness. Her desperation is clear while he nonchalantly claims that he is still looking into other actresses. He covers all his bases so that he comes off as fair before choosing her as his lead. It reiterates that he never was a good guy but seeing him silently scheme in the background and slowly turn into a better person is definitely worth watching.
