Trainwreck: The Real Project X Review – It's party time

It's party time Back in 2012, when Facebook was still relevant and social media wasn't the all-encompassing thing it is now, the biggest birthday party in the Netherlands took shape. On September 21st, a 16 year old girl called Merthe set up a Facebook invite for her friends…but accidentally made it public. When fellow classmates decided to prank Merthe, sharing the public event and making it an overnight sensation, 350,000 people show up to Merthe's house, in the sleepy town of Haren. With police woefully unprepared and the Mayor running around like a headless chicken (figuratively speaking anyway) the small town is rocked by an unforgettable night of mayhem. Clocking in at 48 minutes, Trainwreck's latest documentary doesn't waste much time diving into the crux of the drama. However, it largely sticks to a play-by-play retelling of what happened that night. There's a distinct lack of insight or analysis surrounding the other elements that caused 'Project x Haren' to kick off the way that it did. The documentary touches on Facebook's UI once when Merthe informs that you can't delete an event from your mobile. However, this section could have done with a bit more context, diving into Facebook's terrible set-up, the inability to contact help without jumping through hoops and how easy incidents like this can turn from pranks into full-blown incidents. Of course, none of this is helped by Merthe writing a twitter post saying it'll 'be a good party', which only fuels the fires further. Most of the documentary takes on this slightly satirical, amusing edge though, until near the end of the film. Here, it whiplashes hard into more somber waters, as we learn that two girls actually died in the crowd. Notably though, we don't find out who they are, or hear from any of their loved ones so it feels more like a side-note than a genuine big deal (even though it obviously is). I'm guessing the filmmakers didn't want to suddenly lurch into super serious waters but it would have been good to see more context around this. Interviews are peppered between archival footage, making up the bulk of this film, and there is at least an attempt to be balanced by showing officials, neighbours and fellow partygoers and their eyewitness accounts from that night. Trainwreck's latest outing doesn't quite hit the heights of its predecessors. It's fast-paced and mildly entertaining, but too surface-level for a story with this much social and cultural weight. A nod to the original Project X party in Australia involving Corey Worthington could have added more context and global resonance. With a little more analysis and emotional depth, this could have been a sharp cautionary tale for the digital age. Instead, it plays more like a chaotic highlight reel of one wild night the internet won't let Haren forget any time soon.

FM refutes claims of impersonator posing as Yemen's permanent UN representative

Sana'a - Saba: Foreign Minister Jamal Amer sent a letter to the President of the Security Council regarding the false allegations included in the statement of an impersonator posing as the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the United Nations during the Security Council session on the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers. The Foreign Minister emphasized that the allegations contained a stream of baseless claims , lies that must be exposed and corrected based on the established facts on the ground and the broader context of the Yemeni crisis. The letter comprehensively refuted these fallacies, clarifying that describing the events in Yemen as a "militia coup against constitutional legitimacy" does not reflect the essence of the crisis. Rather, the change brought about by the September 21, 2014 Revolution was a natural outcome of accumulated political and economic failures, rampant corruption, exclusion, and the inability of the former government to meet the demands and aspirations of the Yemeni people for reform and change. The letter stated that the repeated emphasis on "constitutional legitimacy" detached from popular will disregards the principles of good governance. It noted that UN Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) was used as a cover for military aggression and a comprehensive blockade that prolonged humanitarian suffering, rather than serving as a tool for achieving just and sustainable peace. The letter also highlighted the firm stance of the Supreme Political Council and the Sana'a-based Government of Change and Construction, stressing that any political solution must be free from external dictates, preconditions, or the imposition of entities formed by foreign forces with no connection to the Yemeni people. The Foreign Ministry affirmed that the claim that the Sana'a government is responsible for humanitarian suffering is nothing but a blatant attempt to distort facts and divert attention from the heinous crimes committed against the Yemeni people. It attributed the root causes of humanitarian suffering to the comprehensive military aggression and unjust blockade imposed by the coalition, which has destroyed infrastructure, disrupted essential services, crippled the economy, and employed a deliberate policy of starvation by blockading ports and airports. This has deprived millions of Yemenis of food, medicine, fuel, displaced countless people, and created the worst man-made humanitarian catastrophe. The Foreign Minister's letter also debunked lies and rumors about the summer camps organized by the Government of Change and Construction, confirming that their activities include educational and awareness programs that promote national, moral, and religious values among youth. These efforts align with the government's responsibilities toward this demographic, similar to initiatives undertaken by many countries, including Security Council members. The Foreign Ministry reiterated that the issue of landmines is a real tragedy in Yemen, caused by the foreign military aggression brought about by the "hotel government." Many landmines were planted in occupied provinces, and the "hotel government" has pressured the international community and donor countries to halt funding for demining programs in liberated provinces, demonstrating the UN and donors' neglect of their humanitarian duty in this critical matter. The Ministry rejected repeated allegations of "alleged Iranian military and financial support," stressing that these accusations aim to divert attention from the reality of foreign military aggression and the comprehensive blockade imposed on Yemen since March 26, 2015. It affirmed that the military capabilities of the Sana'a government are the result of self-reliant efforts and local expertise developed to confront aggression and protect Yemeni sovereignty. The Republic of Yemen is a sovereign state with an inherent right to possess defensive capabilities to protect itself from external threats without interference. The letter explained that the prolongation of aggression is due to the insistence of its parties on a military solution and their rejection of serious political resolutions. It noted that Washington pressured Riyadh to prevent the signing of a roadmap due to Sana'a's unwavering humanitarian, moral, and religious stance against the genocidal crimes committed by the Zionist terrorist entity against civilians in Gaza. The Sana'a-based Foreign Ministry called on the Security Council to consider its June 21, 2025 letter, which demands the correction of Yemen's legal representation at the UN General Assembly and its subsidiary bodies by granting the seat to the Sana'a government—in line with popular will. If necessary, the seat should be declared vacant to preserve the UN's credibility. It also urged the Security Council to invite the Sana'a delegation to participate in the monthly briefings of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, ensuring a clear and accurate portrayal of the situation in Yemen—rather than solely listening to the illegitimate party occupying Yemen's UN seat, which has no presence on the ground. I am going back to Bollywood with a story that truly matters: Priyanka Upendra

P riyanka Upendra is all set to return to Hindi cinema after 12 years. The actor, who lived in Mumbai and worked there in the early 2000s, tells us she's excited about returning to familiar territory with September 21. Directed by 22-year-old Karen Kshitij Suvarna , the film is said to explore the often-overlooked emotional journey of caregivers. Karen's earlier film Hide & Seek was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, two years ago. Excerpts: 'THE FILM'S SCRIPT TOUCHED ME ON A PERSONAL LEVEL' I feel mainstream cinema which highlights characters suffering from a particular illness or disease, solely focus on their struggles and overlook the caregiver's journey. In this film, I play Kamala, a devoted caregiver to a 60-year-old man struggling with Alzheimer's. This script gives the space and respect that caregivers deserve because their journey is equally hard. 'I'M AT A STAGE IN LIFE WHERE BIG BUDGETS, SONG AND DANCE ROUTINES DON'T MATTER' I have been part of big commercial films, lived the peak life of glamour and seen big box office numbers. But as you evolve, be it personally or professionally, you tend to seek more solid things. My focus now lies in telling meaningful stories that resonate on a deeper emotional level. As an artiste, now is the time to satiate my inner cravings as a performer. And those are the kind of stories I choose to be a part of now

Sana'a: Honorable Stances with Palestine and a Haven for the Free People of the World

Sana'a – Saba: The Yemeni people continue to prove, time and again throughout their ancient and modern history, that they are resilient against conspiracies and will never succumb to external hegemony, regardless of the aggressors' arrogance. History testifies that Yemen has always been, and will remain, the graveyard of invaders and occupiers. After a decade of war and blockade imposed by the US-Saudi-UAE coalition since March 26, 2015, the aggression has failed to break Yemen's will. Despite the vast resources spent to destroy its infrastructure, Yemen has emerged more resilient. The aggression, which has resulted in the worst humanitarian catastrophe in modern history, entered a renewed phase in March 2025. However, after bitter experiences, Washington, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi have reaped nothing but defeats, disgrace, and shame. Before this period, Yemen was under foreign tutelage, treated as a mere backyard for global powers. But with the September 21, 2014 Revolution, the equation shifted, and Yemen's decision-making became independent and firmly in the hands of its people. Today, under the leadership of Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi and Yemen's free people, the nation has overcome many challenges and now possesses advanced military capabilities that can deter its enemies. Alongside its military strength, Yemen has also taken an unwavering stance in supporting Palestine, reaffirming it as the central cause of the Muslim Ummah. The Arab-Israeli conflict remains ongoing, particularly after the 'Al-Aqsa Flood' operation. The Zionist-American enemy continues to target the region and the Axis of Resistance. The renewed US aggression against Yemen and the Zionist assault on Gaza is merely part of a broader battle, one that is destined to end in victory for the resistance forces, with Yemen at the forefront. Yemen's steadfast support for Palestine stems from a deep-rooted sense of dignity, faith, and unwavering conviction. This commitment has frustrated the US administration, prompting figures like Donald Trump to issue empty threats in an attempt to deter Yemen from enforcing its naval blockade on Israeli-bound ships. Following US threats and its military strikes on civilian areas in Sana'a and other provinces, Yemen responded swiftly by targeting the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier and its accompanying destroyers four times within 72 hours. This demonstrated Yemen's refusal to submit to intimidation and its unwavering support for Gaza, regardless of the cost. Analysts view the latest US strikes on Yemen as a dangerous escalation that could lead to a broader regional conflict. They also highlight the predicament faced by **President Trump**, especially given Sana'a's firm stance on continuing to target Israeli-bound vessels until the Zionist blockade on Gaza is lifted. Thanks to its brave and principled stance, Yemen has become a beacon for free people worldwide, a force capable of reshaping the balance of power in favor of the oppressed. The influx of Arab, Islamic, and international delegations to Sana'a for the Third Conference on "Palestine: The Central Cause of the Ummah" stands as a testament to this growing influence.
