Who is Coco Gauff's boyfriend, Jalen Sera? A look at the tennis star's private romance

Despite being one of the most recognizable young athletes in the world, Coco Gauff has managed to keep her relationship with boyfriend Jalen Sera mostly out of the spotlight. The two have been dating since 2023, and while Gauff was tight-lipped about his identity for nearly a year, she recently confirmed his name in June 2025. During a lighthearted Bose video, she listened to a sweet voice message from him, and both his name and face were confirmed for the first time. Now, two years into their relationship, fans are getting a clearer picture of the man behind the name. They've known each other since childhood Though their romance didn't begin until their late teens, Gauff and Sera have known each other for years. Both grew up in Atlanta, and her mother, Candi Gauff, was actually Sera's fourth-grade teacher. 'My mom always said, if they're bad in school, they're probably bad as adults. He's always been a smart, nice kid,' the tennis star said to TIME. Their longstanding familiarity eventually evolved into what Coco has called her 'first real relationship.' Jalen Sera is a musician and aspiring actor Far removed from the world of tennis, Sera is focused on a creative path. Gauff shared that he is currently in school and pursuing music and acting, often posting guitar covers on YouTube. After watching the tennis drama Challengers in 2024, Gauff joked that she was glad her boyfriend was not a fellow player. "I told my boyfriend, 'Thank God you don't play tennis'," she said, per ESPNW's Instagram. Gauff values having someone outside her professional orbit, telling TIME that it gives her "a fresh perspective" as it gives her "someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all." Win or lose, she has his complete support Though he isn't on the tour, Sera has been one of Gauff's biggest sources of support. During her 2023 U.S. Open run, she credited him with helping her stay mentally grounded before the final. They talked until 1 a.m. the night before, helping ease her nerves. "Last night, I started a little bit, but honestly, I just called my boyfriend, and I told him let's talk until it's time to go to sleep, so we spoke until 1:00 a.m. and then I went to sleep," Gauff admitted to reporters after the match, per People.

O'Grady died peacefully at Milford Care Centre with his wife Marie, son Emmanuel and daughter Eukaria by his side. Paschal and Marie were volunteers at the centre for over 20 years. The Limerick man's comic partner Tom O'Donnell died in 2013, aged 88. The pair's slapstick act sold out venues, including London's Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. Paschal O'Grady. Pic: Peter McNamara, of Milford Entertainment Group, said: 'In recent years, Paschal and other volunteers at the Milford Care Centre put on weekly concerts for residents. 'He continued to raise many laughs with his own comedy version of Que Sera, Sera and old favourite Sonny Boy, acting out the loved Katie And Nonie routine from the Christmas Crackers shows of the '60s with help from his long-time friend and singing partner, Eugene O'Connor. 'This continued right up to a couple of weeks ago when he was still entertaining residents at Milford.'

Tributes pour in for comic star of stage and screen Paschal O'Grady (93)

TRIBUTES POURED IN for comic star of stage and screen Paschal O'Grady, one half of the legendary Irish comic duo, 'Tom and Pascal', who passed away Friday. Mr O'Grady, (93), from Ballinacurra, Limerick, died peacefully at Milford Care Centre surrounded by beloved wife Marie, son Emmanuel and daughter Eukaria. Ireland's answer to the 1960s British comic stars 'Morecambe and Wise', Tom & Paschal's slap-stick act made them a household name, selling out shows including the Theatre Royal, Dublin, to the Royal Albert Hall, London, to Carnegie Hall, New York City. Paschal's partner in comedy, Tom O'Donnell, also sadly passed away, in February 2013. The pair, who also had a hit television sketch programme, may be best remembered for their hilarious portrayal of 'Kattie and Nonie', two Limerick female pensioners. The impact of television catapulted them from stage to screen, copper-fastening their names in the annals of Irish comedy gold. 'Well, it (television) did a lot. But I think we missed a lot of opportunities, we should have pushed it more. We travelled on our success rather than our potential. I still maintain we were the Morecambe and Wise of Ireland, if we had pushed it,' Paschal said in an interview with I Love Limerick, last year. Advertisement The Limerick duo performed their television debut, on RTÉ, 'Tom & Paschal's Christmas Crackers' on New Year's Eve 1961, and were the first comedic act to perform on the station in 'Céad Míle Fáilte'. Last year, recalling their golden years together on stage and screen, Paschal offered advice to young people and others trying to make it big in show-business: 'Don't change, for Christ's sake, don't change. I mean, be human and just do what you feel like doing, so long as you're not injuring anybody or hurting anybody. Everyone should be who they want to be.' Paying tribute, Peter McNamara, Milford Entertainment Group stated: 'In more recent years Paschal and other volunteers of the entertainment group at the Milford Care Centre put on weekly concerts for residents. Here he continued to raise many laughs from residents with his own comedy version of 'Que Sera, Sera' and an old favourite, 'Sonny Boy', acting out the loved 'Katie and Nonie' comedy routine from the Christmas Crackers shows of the 60s with a little help from his long time friend and singing partner, Eugene O'Connor.' 'His contribution to the entertainment and comedy performance sector, especially in the Limerick and Mid West region, down the years, was unique.' 'This continued right up to a couple of weeks ago when he was still entertaining the residents at Milford where he and his wife Marie, were dedicated volunteers for over twenty years.' Pat O'Donovan, of the famous west Limerick traditional Irish music and storytelling venue, Rambling House, Knockfierna, stated: 'Tom and Pascal were the leading comedians thru the 60s and never uttered an offence word while generating laughter among thousands. May Pascal rest in peace.' Mr O'Grady's remains will repose at Milford Care Centre, Castletroy, Co Limerick, from 5.30pm-7pm, this coming Tuesday. His funeral mass will take place at St Michael's Church of Ireland, Pery Square, Limerick City, at 11am, Wednesday, followed by burial in Mount St Lawrence Cemetery, Limerick. 'Thanks for the laughter,' his obituary notice read. Readers like you are keeping these stories free for everyone... This Netflix movie based on a popular video game now has a director

Netflix is riding the wave of popularity for video game adaptations by commissioning a Gears of War movie. The streamer is recruiting a former stuntman turned director to helm the action spectacle. Per The Hollywood Reporter, David Leitch is in negotiations to direct Gears of War for Netflix. Jon Spaihts, the Academy Award-nominated co-writer of Dune, will pen the Gears of War screenplay. Recommended Videos Leitch and Kelly McCormick, Leitch's wife and creative partner, will produce the Netflix adaptation through their 87 North banner. Netflix will partner with The Coalition Studio, the Canadian video game developer, to produce the feature film adaptation. Netflix acquired the rights to Gears of War in 2022. The streamer has plans to make a blockbuster adaptation of the video game before expanding to other mediums, including an adult animated series. Released in 2006, Gears of War is a third-person shooter game set on the fictional Earth-like planet of Sera. With society on the brink of extinction, humans engage in a war with vicious underground creatures known as the Locust Horde. The game follows soldiers Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago of the Delta Squad in a fight to save humanity against the Locust forces. Gears of War became the fastest-selling video game of 2006 and one of the best-selling franchises for the Xbox 360. There have been eight Gears of War video games, which include the main series, spinoffs, and prequels. Leitch began his career as a stunt performer, doubling for Brad Pitt and then working on two Matrix movies. After working as the uncredited co-director of John Wick, Leitch helmed his first feature with 2017's Atomic Blonde. Since Atomic Blonde, Leitch has become a reliable action director backed by excellent stuntwork. Leitch's other films include Deadpool 2, Hobbs & Shaw, Bullet Train, and The Fall Guy. Leitch's next movie is 2026's How to Rob a Bank, a crime thriller with Nicolas Hoult, Pete Davidson, and Anna Sawai.
