Man killed after being hit by car in M60 horror with motorway closed for 12 hours

A man was killed after being hit by a car in a horror crash on the M60 in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 29). Emergency services raced to the incident on the anti-clockwise carriageway shortly before 4am. Police said the man, a pedestrian, was struck between junctions 23 and 21. The motorway was initially closed off in both directions as police and paramedics attended. The victim, a 57-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE A large closure was put in place on both sides of the carriageway throughout the day, remaining in place for 12 hours while investigation work took place. The motorway later re-opened at around 4.20pm, National Highways announced. Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for information and for witnesses to come forward. A force spokesperson said: "At around 3:56am this morning Sunday 29 June 2025, a vehicle driving on junction 22 of the M60 collided with a pedestrian. "Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision. "Anyone with any information, dash cam or mobile phone footage is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 525 of 29/06/2025. A 19-year-old woman who was riding a motorbike has died following a crash on a Midlands motorway. The collision took place on the M69 northbound in Leicestershire in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 28). It was reported that the woman came off her motorbike and was struck after going into the path of a car. The county's police force said it has spoken to the other riders, now officers are appealing for more information. No arrests have been made following the fatal collision. A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M69 northbound in the early hours of Saturday. "The force was called at 12.13am to a report of an injured person in the road. "It was reported to officers that the motorcyclist had come off her bike and into the path of a car, being struck. "The rider of the motorbike – a 19-year-old woman – was pronounced dead at the scene. "There have been no arrests in connection with this collision." Officer in the Case, DC Maddie Hayes, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was driving on the M69 in the early hours of this morning. "This collision happened on the northbound carriageway – heading towards Leicester – but those travelling in the other direction may be able to help too. "We know that our victim was riding with three others on motorbikes – we have spoken to these riders – but are keen to speak to anyone who was driving on the M69 at the time and who may have seen the riders before the collision, or the collision itself. "Dash cam footage will also be helpful – it may have captured something to help our investigation. Please contact us.' "Anyone with information, please call 101, quoting incident number 11 of 28 June. "Alternatively, information can be submitted online."

Woman fights for life after Llandudno crash as driver arrested

A woman is fighting for her life after a crash in Llandudno. The incident happened on Saturday night in Llandudno. Police received a 999-call just after 8.30pm reporting an incident at Cwm Place involving a grey coloured Seat Altea. The female passenger of the vehicle was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance. She was later transferred to a specialist trauma unit in Stoke. Police said she has "serious, life-threatening injuries". Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox The driver – a 23-year-old woman - was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving with no insurance. She has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. Acting Sergeant Duncan Logan of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'The investigation to establish the cause of the collision is underway and we are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen the car being driven prior to the collision to contact us as soon as possible. "We are also urging anyone with doorbell camera or dash cam footage to contact us.'
