A Devout Chloé Girl Is Parting With 80 Outfits by Karl Lagerfeld
She was quite the Chloé girl, and certainly a devotee of Karl Lagerfeld. Now she is parting ways with her groovy, historically important wardrobe, spanning some 80 looks by the famous German designer between 1974 and 1983. Auction house Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr is handling the online sale, which kicks off on June 26 and runs through July 9. Bonhams is keeping the identity of the seller under wraps, but confirmed it's a single-owner collection. Estimates for the dresses start at 700 euros and run up to about 1,500 euros. Lagerfeld logged two celebrated stints at Chloé. He started working for the house in 1963 and initially worked alongside other designers brought on by founder Gaby Aghion, such as Graziella Fontana, Tan Giudicelli and Michèle Rosier. Lagerfeld took full creative control of Chloé in 1966 and worked there until 1983. He rejoined Chloé for a second time in 1992, creating memorable ad campaigns with model Linda Evangelista, before leaving for good in 1997. 'This auction is an homage to Karl Lagerfeld with an exemplary collection of designs from his early years at Chloé presented alongside groundbreaking looks from his final spring 1984 Chloé collection,' commented Hubert Felbacq, director of the fashion and accessories department at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr. Among lots from that spring 1984 collection is an ivory silk evening dress embroidered with gold sequins and draped for an antique effect. It's offered with an estimate of 1,200 to 1,500 euros. Felbacq noted that under the German designer, 'Chloé entered a golden era, pushing the boundaries of prêt-à-porter with bold, narrative-driven collections. From ethereal gowns and romantic silhouettes to bold, surrealist prints, these garments exemplify Lagerfeld's unparalleled ability to blend elegance with innovation.' The Bonhams sale also spans 70 other lots of haute couture from Yves Saint Laurent, Guy Laroche, Louis Feraud, Hervé Léger, Emanuel Ungaro and Pierre Balmain. There's A Summer Mini Dress For Everyone – Here Are 15 Styles To Shop Now
Fashion is no stranger to a thigh-grazing hem. From its invention in the 1960s to its (even more) micro iterations over 50 years later, the mini dress has only gotten smaller and mightier with age. What the summer mini dress lacks in fabric, it makes up for in versatility. For SS25, designers continue to herald this diminutive wonder, in smock form at Chloé, pelted with polka dots at Prabal Gurung and Carolina Herrera, and buoyed by bubble hems at Stella McCartney and JW Anderson. Anderson also made a strong case for the slinky satin dress – as has Hailey Bieber on at least two recent trips to New York's Cafe Zaffri – while Coach and Sandy Liang used the fabric in pleasingly starchier forms. One could argue that a classic shift is the mini dress' most authentic iteration, since this was the shape that started it all in the 1960s. A simple black shift is always a good idea (Pamela Anderson is a fan), or consider something in leather (see Emilia Wickstead) or neon – or both, as at Gucci. What's more, the summer mini dress can be worn for practically any occasion, from marketing-hopping while on holiday to balmy nights spent dancing, and even more formal affairs; for example, Georgia May Jagger and Jourdan Dunn eschewed the usual midi or maxi dress for shorter styles at this year's Serpentine Summer Party. From bubble hems to Sixties-inspired shifts, airy smocks to satin styles, we've shortlisted the loveliest summer mini dresses, below. A bubble hem lends futuristic edge to the tried-and-trued mini dress. Ground the flouncy silhouette with ballet flats – or chunky loafers, as seen at JW Anderson and Victoria Beckham. Spotted: polka dots dainty and oversized at Patou, Prabal Gurung and Carolina Herrera. You can't go wrong with classic black and white, best accessorised with poppy-red lipstick. The satin summer mini dress comes in forms both slinky and structured, making it the perfect piece for parties and more formal events alike. Take cues from N°21's SS25 show, where a satin shift was styled with pointed flats and a messy beehive. The nightie dress is a heatwave marvel. Reach for smock styles in chiffon or cotton that have romantic, puffed sleeves and pretty smocked or shirred detailing, and finish things off with a generous helping of vintage jewellery. Riff on a Sixties sensibility with a sleeveless shift dress. A well-made one in classic black will see you through decades of wear, or opt for something a little more playful, in candyfloss-pink or nostalgic school checks. London: Isha Ambani marked a stylish appearance at the Serpentine Summer Party 2025. Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor also attended the Serpentine Summer Party, co-hosted by Academy Award Winner Cate Blanchett which is an invitation-only fundraiser designed to bring together leading individuals and supporters of the institution from the worlds of art, fashion, business and technology. She walked the iconic Met Gala carpet in designer Anamika Khanna's creation. Dressed in a white geometric corset, black tailored pants and a white cape, Isha served looks with her Met Gala appearance. Anamika drew inspiration from Black dandy style and gave a more appealing touch to her design with semi-precious stones and traditional pearl work. For the glam, Isha opted for dewy makeup and tied her hair in a long braid. Isha Ambani is a Met Gala regular. In 2024, she relied on ace designer Rahul Mishra to create a floral sari gown for look "embraced sustainability by incorporating elements from Rahul's past collections. Delicate samples of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies were meticulously integrated from the archives into the design, via distinct applique and embroidery techniques, such as Fareesha, Zardozi, Nakshi, and Dabka, as well as French knots.
