Manchester United stance on signing Arsenal transfer target Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United remain keen admirers of Benjamin Sesko as their search for a new striker continues. The Red Devils begun their pre-season campaign against Leeds United on Saturday having made just two significant additions to their squad. Matheus Cunha's move from Wolves was wrapped up early in the window with the minimum of fuss, while it remains to be seen how prominently teenager Diego Leon will feature following his move from Cerro Porteno. Ruben Amorim had hoped that Bryan Mbeumo's transfer would have been resolved by now, but Brentford's refusal to be railroaded into a sale has seen that saga drag on. United are confident that a third bid, closer to the Bees valuation, will see the Cameroon forward join imminently, but United are still desperately short of attacking options. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both been linked with returns to Serie A having failed to convince they are worthy of being regarded as United's main source of goals. United had shown interest in Amorim's former Sporting Lisbon charge, Viktor Gyokeres, but the Sweden international has been steadfast in his determination to join the Gunners. It's been quite a tough season for Leipzig, which forced them to change coach after a disappointing Champions League campaign. They've been struggling, which reflects on his output, but he's still been one of their best and most consistent players. Sesko's strengths are certainly his physicality and speed – he's great at making dangerous runs in behind defences, but he's also a very clinical and instinctive finisher, especially when the ball drops to him in the area. His work rate is good and he's a willing runner off the ball as well. His hold-up play is quite strong, but I think his link-up play is a side of his game that he can still improve. It's not that he's bad at that side of the game, but compared to someone like Havertz, he's not at that level. In particular, his passing will need to get a lot better in a side like Arsenal. But during his young career, he's shown he can take those steps forward. His mentality is definitely a strength – he's a player who wants to learn and wants to improve so in that sense he will be a quick learner and offers Arsenal something completely different. Rune Gjerulff, German football expert and editor of Bulinews Arsenal, for their part, had started the summer with Sesko as their first choice to become the missing part of the title-winning puzzle at the Emirates Stadium. Andrea Berta, however, found RB Leipzig difficult customers to deal with, while Sesko's own personal demands saw Arsenal switch focus to Gyokeres. That decision means Sesko is still available should an interested party be able to raise the funds required to prise the striker from the Bundesliga club. Sesko has received a tentative offer from the Saudi Pro League but he is determined to continue his career with a top level European club. United would dearly love to add him to their ranks but according to The Telegraph, lack the funds required at present. Amorim will hope to raise additional funds by selling the members of his 'bomb squad' who have been deemed surplus to requirements. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony have all be told to find new clubs and will not be involved in pre-season. United, meanwhile, have been linked with a number of free agents including the likes of Callum Wilson, Jamie Vardy and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but signing a player of that ilk would represent a last resort. Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins is also on their radar, but at 29-years-old, age and potential resale value are factors the United board are considering before making an offer. Arsenal's transfer business is well underway but they have found difficulty negotiating for a new striker for Mikel Arteta this summer as they attempt to win for the Premier League Arsenal have kicked into action in the transfer market over the last week or so and have now added three players to Mikel Arteta's squad. Christian Norgaard became the Gunners' latest signing when he joined from Brentford on Thursday. The Dane's arrival in a £12million deal sees the north London side continue to attempt to form a squad capable of winning the Premier League. Arsenal have operated frugally under sporting director Andrea Berta to land the midfielder, after starting the summer with a £5m move for Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. Martin Zubimendi has been the club's blockbuster deal of the summer however. The Spaniard signed a five-year deal after his £55m move. But the Gunners' work is not done. Links to Noni Madueke persist while Berta attempts to get a deal for a new striker over the line amid issues with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko moves. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours. Sesko offer Al-Hilal could table a substantial offer to Benjamin Sesko in a bid to lure the RB Leipzig striker to the Saudi Pro League. Arsenal have failed to land the Slovenian thus far and turned their attention to Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres before reaching another impasse. Sesko, 22, was said to be Arsenal's first choice and the north London team could yet return for the forward. But it appears that clubs could attempt to convince the Bundesliga striker his future lies elsewhere. Al-Hilal are ready to launch a serious charm offensive per reports and Sesko has emerged as one of the club's top targets after it emerged Victor Osimhen favours a return to Turkey with Galatasaray. Why Arteta wanted Norgaard Mikel Arteta singled out Christian Norgaard's character and leadership as reason behind his signing after Brentford captain was officially unveiled as an Arsenal player. He told 'We're delighted to welcome Christian to Arsenal. He is an international player with a wealth of experience of the Premier League. He has proven leadership skills and a strong character which will be invaluable to our squad. "He is a strong midfielder with excellent tactical awareness and versatility. The 25-year-old looks likely to depart this summer. Reports in Italy claim Cuesta is keen to bring Vieira to Parma as part of his new-look project. Benjamin Sesko set to receive huge transfer offer after surprise Arsenal U-turn
Arsenal have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko but the Slovenia star could now be on the move elsewhere with the Gunners targeting Viktor Gyokeres Al-Hilal could table a substantial offer to Benjamin Sesko in a bid to lure the RB Leipzig striker to the Saudi Pro League now that Arsenal are advancing in talks for Viktor Gyokeres. Sesko, 22, has been courted by a host of clubs this summer including Arsenal, who have been weighing up whether to prioritise a move for the Slovenia star or Gyokeres. The Gunners have since made the latter their primary transfer target, with talks now underway with Sporting Lisbon over a deal. Where that leaves Sesko remains to be seen, though the striker could still leave Leipzig this summer. He has no shortage of suitors elsewhere including Saudi Arabia, where Al-Hilal are ready to launch a serious charm offensive to land him. According to The Sun, Sesko has emerged as one of the club's top striker targets with Victor Osimhen favouring a return to Turkey with Galatasaray. And Al-Hilal may respond to that snub by turning their attention to Sesko once they close a deal for the AC Milan and France full-back, Theo Hernandez. Leipzig are demanding at least £77million to let Sesko go this summer as suitors across Europe and beyond line up for the talented frontman. Arsenal were thought to be leading that queue with Sesko earmarked as a top target. But they have since decided to go in a different direction after failing to agree personal terms with Sesko or a transfer fee with the striker's club. Join the debate! Where do you think Sesko will be playing next season? Let us know here While Arsenal continue to try and thrash out a deal for Gyokeres with Sporting, it remains to be seen if Sesko would be tempted by a move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of his career should Al-Hilal make an approach. His stock is high after breaking the 20-goal barrier for Leipzig last season and other suitors are expected to emerge if Arsenal close a deal for Gyokeres. Al-Hilal have other options on their striker wishlist which could impact other Premier League clubs, too. Crystal Palace 's Jean-Philippe Mateta is one of the names on said list and could be on the move this summer. Moise Kean, the Fiorentina striker, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last term. Intriguingly, he has also been linked with Manchester United, like Sesko and Mateta.

Arsenal likely regret £50m striker decision that 'would've seen deal struck'
Arsenal remain locked in talks with Sporting CP over a move for Viktor Gyokeres after being priced out of a transfer for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who could've already solved the issue Mikel Arteta will most likely be ruing Arsenal 's decision to not sign Benjamin Sekso last summer as his pursuit of Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres looks to have stalled. Arteta has been chasing a goalscorer for over a year, with a great deal of effort made made in order to bring RB Leipzig striker Sesko to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners' woes in front of goal were a major factor in costing them the Premier League title last season. Injuries to key personnel up top ensured Liverpool stole a march on Arteta 's side and sealed their 20th top-flight crown. With a swoop for Gyokeres now looking at an impasse due to a wide gap in valuations for the prolific forward, Arsenal may well be casting a regretful eye back toward the extensive work that was made to sign Sesko over the last 18 months. Sesko, 22, ultimately decided to stay at the German side last summer as he believed remaining with Leipzig would be best for his development. Reports suggested a deal could have been struck, however, for just £50million (€58m). The new deal he subsequently signed, and the 21 goals he scored in all competitions last season, pushed his price up to between £69m (€80m) and £86m (€100m), forcing Arsenal to pull the plug on Sesko and pivot toward Gyokeres, 27. Yet, with Sporting now reportedly commanding £60m (€70m) up front from the north London club, with £8m (€9.2m) in add-ons to follow, there will be a brutal reality check for Arteta that Arsenal could have acquiesced to Leipzig's demands last summer. This would not have only afforded Arsenal's Spanish boss the goalscorer he so desires for all of last season, but also saved the club a pretty penny, with Sporting's asking price for Gyokeres toppling that of Leipzig's 2024 demand for Sesko by some margin. A move for Sesko could now be reignited, but may prove difficult with the Slovenian star perfectly aware that any move for him is at the expense of a failed swoop for Gyokeres. However, he was always their first-choice target. Arteta hopes to see a striker added to his squad before Arsenal fly to Singapore for a pre-season tour of Asia on July 19. Swedish international Gyokeres has made it clear that he wishes to join the Gunners this summer and he has no intention of playing for the Portuguese side again. While the likes of Manchester United have expressed an interest, Arsenal became front runners to land the ex-Coventry City hotshot's signature. Gunners' sporting director Andrea Berta was recently in Portugal to try and forge an agreement, but Portuguese outlet Record has said that negotiators have now left Lisbon with the two clubs struggling to settle on a fee. Personal terms are already in place on a five-year deal for Gyokeres, and the add-ons in the deal relate to goal and trophy bonuses. He has scored a staggering 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting since August 2023. Sesko, meanwhile, has scored 39 and bagged eight assists in 87 games for Leipzig. Arsenal have signed Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea so far this summer, with Brentford captain Christian Norgaard expected to be next.
