Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be a record-breaking foldable — here's why

A new leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be much thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, while also confirming other rumored specs. There's no doubt that foldable phones have gone from strength to strength in recent years, with some of the best foldable phones offering an unparalleled experience. However, while Samsung might have been the biggest name in the market, it has struggled to stand out compared to the competition in terms of hardware. But this could soon change, as a new leak from Setsuna Digital (via Android Authority) has stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will only be 8.9mm thick when closed, and 4.2mm when open. If accurate, then this would mean that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be thinner than the Oppo Find N5, which is the current thinnest phone at 8.93mm thick. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 that the Z Fold 7 would replace measures 12mm thick when closed and 5.6mm when opened. On top of that, the post from Setsuna also claims that the phone will feature a 6.5-inch external screen and an 8-inch internal screen. The phone is rumored to feature a 200MP main camera and a 10MP front camera with a 100-degree wide-angle lens, all powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. This isn't the first time we've heard these specs, as we've seen similar mentions in the past few months. For instance, Evan Blass recently revealed similar thickness and camera specs. Not only that, Samsung itself has also teased that the Z Fold 7 will feature "cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimized for the foldable format." The post also gives us some details about the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is stated to have an unfolded thickness of 6.5mm, a 4.1-inch external screen and a 6.9-inch internal display. The phone is also said to be coming with a 4,300 mAh battery. While there's no mention of a chip, there are rumors that the phone will come with the Exynos chip in certain markets, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite in others. If this leak is accurate, then there is no doubt that the Z Fold 7 would be incredibly thin. However, it should be noted that the Honor Magic V4 could be even thinner, with recent rumors stating that it could also be under 9mm thick. Samsung's tri-fold Galaxy G Fold could appear at Unpacked — what we know

A new Samsung leak claims that the company could unveil a long-rumored device during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked: a triple foldable, thought to be named the Galaxy G-Fold. We don't have long to wait before Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event, which is coming up on July 9. The most anticipated announcements are the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but a new leak on Weibo by Setsuna Digital (via Android Authority) has suggested that Samsung could also unveil the G-Fold at the event. The leak goes on to state that we could expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 hit shelves in August, while the G-Fold won't be available until October. This could indicate that buyers will have a longer pre-order time for the triple foldable phone, or that it won't be up for pre-orders immediately after the announcement. A previous rumor claimed that Samsung is only releasing an initial wave of 200,000 units, so perhaps we would expect the latter due to the limited number of phones Samsung may have to sell. There have been a few rumors about Samsung's G-Fold, even though there's still a lot we don't know. For instance, we've heard that the phone will feature two inward-facing hinges that, when unfolded, would give the phone an inner display between 9-10 inches in size. However, while the screen might be big, we've heard that Samsung will not include a digitizer layer in the display, which would mean no stylus support. On the plus side, it alos appears that the phone could feature a new type of battery that could help the phone limit its thickness. According to a leak, the G-Fold will feature the same silicon-carbon battery that was recently rumored to be in next year's Galaxy S26 phones. Unfortunately, there's a bit of a gap in the rumor mill when it comes to the rest of the phone's specs, but we'd expect it to feature the same Snapdragon 8 Elite seen in the Galaxy S25, as well as around 12GB or 16GB of RAM and at least 256GB of storage. While it would be great to finally see Samsung's triple foldable at Galaxy Unpacked, we'd recommend taking this leak with a grain of salt. If it does turn out to be accurate, then this summer could prove to be a particularly good time for Samsung fans looking for the next best foldable. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 specs leak ahead of July 9 Unpacked Event: Here's what to expect

Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for 9 July, and the company is expected to unveil its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. A new leak has revealed alleged specifications for both devices, pointing to slimmer designs and upgraded displays. According to details shared by tipster Setsuna Digital via Weibo, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature an 8-inch internal display paired with a 6.5-inch external screen. The device is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. Design-wise, it may incorporate an aluminium frame and a glass ceramic back panel. It is tipped to measure 8.9mm in thickness when folded and just 4.2mm when open, weighing around 215 grams. This would make it significantly thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which comes in at 12.1mm folded and 239g. The Fold 7 is also said to include a 10MP selfie camera with a 100-degree field of view. Moreover, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to receive several upgrades. It may come with a 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch internal screen, both offering a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits peak brightness. This could mark a notable step up from the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which features a 3.4-inch outer screen and 6.7-inch main display. Battery capacity could also see an improvement, with the Z Flip 7 rumoured to house a 4,300mAh unit, up from the 4,000mAh battery found in the previous generation. The new model is tipped to measure 13.7mm when closed and 6.5mm when open, and weigh 188g, offering a sleeker profile than its predecessor. In addition to the new foldables, the 9 July event is also expected to include the launch of updated Galaxy smartwatches and earphones. Pre-reservations for the upcoming devices have already opened in India.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 dimensions leak again

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are expected to launch as the brand's slimmest and lightest foldable phones next week. Ahead of the big announcement, leakster Setsuna Digital shared some preliminary dimensions for both devices. In related news, Evan Blass shared additional official-looking renders for Samsung's upcoming foldable, showing off their updated slim designs. Galaxy Z Fold7 Galaxy Z Fold7 will measure 8.9mm when folded and a mere 4.2mm when unfolded. If these dimensions are in fact true, Z Fold7 would edge out the current champion – vivo's X Fold5, which is 9.2 mm and 4.3 mm respectively and 217 grams. Galaxy Z Fold7 is reportedly getting an enhanced armored aluminum frame and glass ceramic back panel. Z Fold7's tenure as the thinnest foldable may be short-lived, though, as Honor is launching its Magic V5 later this week, which will be 8.8mm thin in its folded state. Galaxy Z Flip7 Galaxy Z Flip7 will come in at 13.7mm folded and 6.5mm unfolded while weighing 188 grams. These dimensions would make Z Flip7 the undisputed slimmest flip foldable to date. Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be Samsung's thinnest flip yet, here's what we know

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is already grabbing attention for its larger outer display, but now there's fresh buzz around a possible major design refinement, a thinner profile. A new leaked image shared in Evan Blass's latest newsletter hints at a sleeker, more compact design than its predecessor. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is will be launched in coming weeks.(Samsung) The image doesn't reveal much at first glance, we see the much-rumoured larger cover display and a new blue colour option. However, keen observers have spotted a subtle but telling change: the device looks noticeably slimmer when compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. One clue lies in the SIM tray. Comparing its position and the frame space above and below it, the Flip 7 seems to have a more compressed vertical profile. Unless Samsung has oddly thickened the SIM tray, this could suggest a thinner chassis, a welcome change for fans of foldables seeking better pocketability. Conflicting Numbers While the visual cue is compelling, it contradicts earlier leaks. Previous reports have suggested the unfolded thickness remains unchanged at 6.84mm, identical to the Flip 6. However, the new report from Setsuna Digital on Weibo claims that the folded thickness will shrink to 13.7mm, a meaningful reduction that would improve usability and portability. Why It Matters Foldable phones, especially flip-style ones, haven't focused much on reducing folded thickness, unlike their book-style counterparts. A slimmer Galaxy Z Flip 7 could improve ergonomics and make it more appealing for mainstream users, especially as competition heats up in the compact foldable space. It's too early to say with certainty if the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will indeed be thinner, but if the leaked visual and Weibo reports are accurate, this could be one of the most significant design upgrades yet for Samsung's flip series. More concrete details should emerge as we approach the device's launch in the coming weeks.
