Is Failure Frame season 2 happening? Everything we know so far

For the uninitiated, Failure Frame follows Touka Mimori, a high schooler yanked into a fantasy world alongside his classmates to serve as 'heroes' under the manipulative Goddess Vicius. While his peers get flashy, high-rank powers, Touka's stuck with an E-rank label and 'useless' low-level spells. Banished to the deadly Ruins of Disposal, he discovers his skills are anything but weak, kicking off a quest for vengeance against the goddess and his backstabbing classmates. The 12-episode season, animated by Seven Arcs, aired from July to September 2024 and ended with a tease of Erica Anaorovael, the mysterious Witch of Taboos.
Based on Kaoru Shinozaki's light novels and with a manga adaptation, the show stood out for its darker take on isekai, even if some fans griped about the heavy CGI and rushed pacing. With a solid fanbase and plenty of story left to tell, hopes are high for more. Has Failure Frame Season 2 Been Confirmed?
As of July 2025, there's no official word on a second season for Failure Frame . That said, there's reason to stay hopeful. Here's why: Plenty of Source Material : The light novel series, which started in 2018, has 12 volumes out, and Season 1 only adapted the first three. That leaves enough for at least a couple more seasons, so the story's far from over.
Fan Hype : If you've scrolled through Reddit or X, you know fans are vocal about wanting more. Posts are full of excitement over Touka's cunning plans and frustration at the Season 1 cliffhanger, with many begging for news on Season 2.
Studio Availability: Seven Arcs, the studio behind the anime, typically tackles one big project a year. With their 2025 schedule looking open, there's a window for Failure Frame to return, possibly in late 2025 or early 2026.
But it's not all smooth sailing. Some fans weren't thrilled with Season 1's animation, especially the CGI-heavy battles, which could make the studio hesitant if the show didn't pull in enough profit. Anime renewals often hinge on Blu-ray sales, streaming numbers, and merchandise, and we don't have clear data on those yet. When Could Failure Frame Season 2 Drop?
Without a green light, we're guessing here, but anime production timelines give us some clues. Most seasons take 12–18 months to make, so if Seven Arcs gets moving soon, we could see Failure Frame Season 2 by mid-2025 at the earliest, though early 2026 feels more likely. Keep an eye on Crunchyroll or official anime news outlets for announcements, as studios often drop hints at events like Anime Expo or on social media. What's Next for Touka and the Gang?
Assuming Season 2 gets the go-ahead, it'll likely adapt volumes 4–6 of the light novels, ramping up the stakes. Here's a sneak peek at what might be coming, without spoiling too much:
The Witch of Taboos Takes Center Stage: Erica Anaorovael, the dark elf introduced in the Season 1 finale, is set to shake things up. Her role ties into Touka's rebellion, and fans are hyped to see how their dynamic plays out.
Class 2-C Drama: The Takao sisters and Kashima Kobato showed hints of doubting Vicius in Season 1. Expect their stories to intertwine with Touka's, possibly as allies or wild cards, as the goddess' true motives come into focus.
Touka and Seras' Bond: The Season 1 finale confirmed Seras Ashrain's feelings for Touka, but he's too focused on revenge to reciprocate fully. Their slow-burn romance could add heart to the action-packed plot.
