Stranded on Honeymoon Island: Seven's new dating show sinks in the ratings after just two episodes
It was delayed for six months before it made it to air - and this week Stranded on Honeymoon Island finally made its debut in a burst of hype. But Seven's hopes of replicating the success of Nine's Married at First Sight with its own raunchy dating series are sinking fast. Dropping on Monday, the show managed an average of 539,000 viewers nationally, but by Tuesday fans had already deserted the romantic castaways by the thousands. Only 376,000 fans tuned for the second two-hour episode. A combination of MAFS and Survivor, the long-awaited show follows 12 unlucky-in-love singles who are stranded on a remote island with no hope of escape for 21 days. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Narrated by high-profile radio host Jackie 'O' Henderson, the format is based on a hit Danish concept and adapted locally by Endemol Shine Australia. TV insider blog TV Blackbox is predicting that Seven will be swift in re-assessing the show's chances to build an audience. 'At this point it's hours, not days, before Seven announce an 'all-new timeslot and channel' for their new reality dating series,' the sites, editor, Steve Molk said on Wednesday after the show's dire ratings results were released. Meanwhile, over on Nine, Australia's Most Identical, was the biggest entertainment show in prime time. The quirky reality series, hosted by Scott Cam and Dr Jana Pittman, and which tries to identify Australia's 'most identical' identical twins scored an impressive national average of 731,000 viewers. MasterChef Australia also performed well winning 654,000 fans on average acropss the nation. The Total TV ratings combine viewers watching in all major metro centres, and regional areas on live free-to-air as well as broadcast video-on-demand. It comes after Stranded On Honeymoon Island's Amy Dickinson has opened up about her wild ride on Seven's new reality dating experiment. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday, Amy, 30, revealed that she was left 'petrified' after being matched with motorsport presenter Mike, 37, and knew almost immediately that their honeymoon was going to be anything but blissful. 'I called it Nightmare Island immediately,' she admitted. 'As soon as I got to the island, I kind of realised what I'd got myself into… I had a little panic attack.' Despite feeling an instant spark with another contestant during the chaotic two-minute speed dating round, Amy was blindsided when she was paired with Mike - and the red flags started waving before they even reached their bamboo hut. 'In his vows, he made a comment about hoping his future wife could make a better sandwich than his mum,' she revealed. 'He claimed he wrote it when he was seven, but that was obviously a lie. I don't like liars – and I definitely don't like misogynists.' The influencer, who joined the show hoping the experts would have better taste in men than she does, said she's had her fair share of toxic relationships. When asked what viewers can expect from the series, Amy teased: 'Drama. Tears. Chaos. It's so raw.' 'It's like MAFS on steroids. With MAFS, you kinda know what to expect now - cheating scandals, wine throwing - it's textbook. 'But with Stranded, no one knew what was coming next. Not even us.'

Bruce Lehrmann's 'babysitter' Taylor Auerbach swaps media life for law as controversial Seven producer joins leading defamation firm as paralegal
Taylor Auerbach, best known for his explosive evidence in the Bruce Lehrmann defamation trial, has turned his back on TV to pursue a legal career - landing a paralegal role with his own lawyer. Mr Auerbach, once a senior producer on Seven Network's Spotlight program, made national headlines in 2024 after his sensational appearance in the Federal Court during Mr Lehrmann's failed defamation case. The former producer is now studying law full-time after transferring from Macquarie University to the University of Technology Sydney and has taken on a paralegal position at Giles George, one of the country's leading defamation law firms. The firm is helmed by high-profile solicitor Rebekah Giles, who also represents Mr Auerbach in his own legal disputes. She and partner Patrick George are known for defending high-stakes clients in reputational and media matters – an experience Mr Auerbach is now drawing on as he transitions into the field professionally. The move comes off the back of his public fallout with Seven, where he previously launched defamation proceedings against the network following what he claimed were reputational attacks ahead of his testimony in the Lehrmann case. His bombshell affidavit in the Lehrmann case included claims that Seven had funded lavish expenses - dinners, massages, a golf trip, a Randwick rental and, most controversially, cocaine and sex workers - in an attempt to land an exclusive interview with the former Liberal staffer. Auerbach claimed that one Seven line item included a $750 invoice for 'cocaine and prostitutes'. The case would conclude with Justice Michael Lee finding on the balance of probabilities that Lehrmann raped former colleague Brittany Higgins in a ministerial suite. During his judgment, the judge characterised Mr Auerbach as having acted as Mr Lehrmann's 'babysitter'.

Dreamworld sets tongues wagging with cryptic post ahead of Big Brother reboot: 'Is someone on The Giant Drop?'
It appears that Big Brother could be making a welcome return to its original Queensland home. The popular reality series, which is getting the reboot treatment in 2025, was filmed at Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld during its original Network Ten run from 2001 to 2008. Ahead of its anticipated return to Network Ten after a lacklustre showing on Seven, Dreamworld has dropped a major hint about a potential return to the site. Posting to its official social channels this week, Dreamworld staff shared a video that showed a passenger in a car driving past the theme park who spots a person on the side of the road with a sign reading, 'Look up'. The camera then pans over the towering ride The Giant Drop, with the passenger saying; 'Wait, do you guys see that? Is there someone on the Giant Drop?' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. A second clip, shared on Wednesday, shows two people standing atop the lofty ride declaring: 'Hold on tight, something massive is happening at Dreamworld.' Captioning the clip, theme park staff teased something 'big' would be revealed on Thursday 19 June. 'Something's up,' the caption read, the sentiment augmented by a bulging eyes emoji. 'Signs are pointing to Dreamworld - literally. Whatever it is, it's BIG. Stay tuned.' The comment was followed by: 'We told you something big was coming.... hold on tight... all will be revealed tomorrow.' The cryptic post was met with a flurry of comments from theme park fans with some suggesting that the scoop was Big Brother's return to Dreamworld. 'Big Brother!!! The eyes emoji and BIG capitalised in the caption give it away,' one eagle-eyed follower suggested. 'It is returning to its original home at channel 10 so it also makes sense to return to its actual home!' Another commented simply with: 'Big Brother,' while a third suggested it was in fact incoming host Mel Tacina that was standing on top of The Big Drop. The hints come after production company Endemol Shine all but confirmed the anticipated series would return to its spiritual Dreamland home. The production company, last week, put out a call for local production staff. 'Endemol Shine Australia is looking for Queensland-based post production crew available to work on-site for the return of Big Brother,' read the post. While no filming location was specified, the posts suggest that a new home could be built up North, after filming the latest three seasons in Sydney before the series was canned by Seven in 2014. The series will return to screens in early November and is expected to wrap in the first half of December. The abandoned Gold Coast house was deliberately lit on fire in June 2019. Four children aged between 11 and 15 were later charged with arson after it was set ablaze. Two nine-year-olds who were also arrested were released after assisting police with inquiries. After the show was axed in 2014, the unoccupied set was left to rot for five years. A new house was built in 2020 in Manly for when Channel Seven picked up the series before it was eventually relocated to Sydney Olympic Park in 2021 after being served an eviction notice by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. The eviction notice was issued due to concerns for local wildlife. A brand new crop of housemates will be live-streamed 24/7 as the series returns with a fresh new host in 2025. Tracina is planning to revamp the series after taking the hosting reins from Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Tracina revealed Aussie viewers will finally have access to the game in real time. 'What's so good about this is the livestream element,' she said. 'So you don't have to worry about getting a bad edit, or being the "season villain", because viewers can log in at any time and see what the [housemates] are up to.' The beloved reality show, which sees housemates compete to stay in the house to win prize money, found roaring success on Channel Ten in the early 2000s. Since then, the show has changed networks several times - first going over to Channel Nine before a revamped version at Channel Seven. Big Brother Australia was axed from Channel 7's 2024 schedule after scoring its lowest-rated season yet. The show got bumped from its original 7.30 time slot to a later time after just one week on-air and concluded its 15th season with just 152,000 overnight viewers in the five capital cities – a huge drop from when the show relaunched in 2020 with 853,000 viewers.
