Nitish Kumar Promises Jobs For One Crore People In Five Years Ahead Of Bihar Polls
Last Updated: The Bihar Cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday approved 30 key proposals, including a plan to employ one crore youth between 2025 and 2030. Ahead of the crucial Bihar assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led government on Tuesday approved 30 key proposals, including a plan to employ one crore youth in the next five years. The decision, announced ahead of the state elections scheduled later this year, is being seen as a strategic move by the ruling NDA government to counter the opposition's criticism over rising unemployment and alleged inaction on job creation in Bihar. Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Minister made a similar announcement in a post on X, where he also claimed that more than eight lakh youth in Bihar were given government jobs between 2005 and 2020. 'For the next five years (2025 to 2030), we are setting a target to double the goal by providing government jobs and employment opportunities to one crore youth. To achieve this, new job and employment opportunities will also be created in the private sector, particularly in industrial areas," Kumar said in the post. He further said, 'For this purpose, a high-level committee is being constituted. Currently, under the Saat Nischay (Seven Resolves) programme, the youth of the State are being provided with skill development training to connect them with self-employment opportunities. In the next five years, the ongoing programme under Saat Nischay for youth skill development will be expanded." Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. In the next five years, the ongoing programme under Saat Nischay for youth skill development will be expanded.' 'University for skill development' The Chief Minister also said that a university will be established for skill development, which will be named Jananayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University in honour of Bihar's pride so that the youth of the State can find a new direction in skill development. The icon of Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), Mr. Thakur was awarded India's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna posthumously on January 26, 2024. Mr. Kumar added that it has been the vision of his government since the beginning to ensure that more and more youth in the State receive government jobs and employment opportunities. 'To further accelerate the pace of providing government jobs and employment to the youth of the State, in 2020, under the good governance programme, Saat Nischay-2 was launched, under which we resolved to provide government jobs to 10 lakh youth and employment to 10 lakh people,' Mr. Kumar said. He said the target was later increased to provide government jobs to 12 lakh youth and employment to 38 lakh people by August 2025, setting a total target of 50 lakh jobs/employment opportunities. 'I am delighted to share that, so far, over 10 lakh youth in the State have been provided with government jobs, and approximately 39 lakh people have been given employment, and the target of providing government jobs/employment to over 50 lakh youth will certainly be achieved,' Mr. Kumar said.

Nitish Kumar thanks PM Modi, highlights NDA's achievements in Bihar
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of key infrastructure and development projects in the state on Friday. Addressing the massive crowd gathered at the venue, Nitish Kumar said, 'It is a matter of great happiness that the Prime Minister has come to Siwan. I warmly welcome and congratulate him.' He listed the projects being launched, which include 22 urban development projects, six road projects, a rail project, and the launch of two new trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, and the first export of a locomotive from Bihar's Madhura rail factory. Nitish emphasised that Bihar stands to gain significantly from these initiatives. In a veiled attack on the RJD, Nitish Kumar remarked: 'People are talking 'nonsense' these days. It is meaningless. They should be asked what the condition of Bihar was before our government. No one could even step outside their homes. Look at today, so many people, including women and youth, have gathered here to listen to the Prime Minister.' He highlighted the longstanding partnership between JDU and BJP, recalling that since November 24, 2005, the NDA alliance has continuously worked for Bihar's development. Nitish underscored the state government's work in the sectors of education, health, and especially women's empowerment. 'We gave 50 per cent reservation to women. We constructed bridges, ensured tap water and electricity under Saat Nischay (Seven Resolves), and built toilets in every home. Even new houses and settlements are being provided with facilities,' Kumar said. He also mentioned employment efforts: 'Government jobs were provided to thousands of youth, both men and women. I have personally inspected development work across the state and cleared 430 new schemes. Work has already started in Siwan, Gopalganj, and Saran.' The rally marked PM Modi's fifth visit to Bihar in 2025, as the state heads toward assembly elections later this year.
