Rod Stewart issues disappointing Glastonbury announcement as fans left gutted

Rod Stewart has revealed that he begged Glastonbury bosses for a different outcome. Sir Rod Stewart has shared a disappointing update about his Glastonbury performance which is sure to leave fans gutted. The Maggie May hitmaker revealed he has been begging festival bosses for more time on stage this weekend as he performs the coveted Legends Slot on Sunday evening. The 80-year-old said he doesn't have any announcements during his highly anticipated set, meaning that his interactions with the crowd will be limited, and not all of his famous hits will be played within his allocated time frame at Worthy Farm on June 29. ‌ The announcement comes after a dispute over the time that Rod would have on stage with the rock icon managing to negotiate an additional 15 minutes set to one hour and a half after he was originally offered 75 minutes. ‌ Despite the additional minutes, it's still not enough time for Rod to fire out all of his classic hits on the Pyramid Stage so he wants to limit his talking time in between tunes to "get in as many songs" as he can, the Express reports. Explaining his plan for the show, Rod told the BBC: "Usually I do well over two hours so there's still a load of songs we won't be able to do. But we've been working at it. "I'm not gonna make any announcements between songs. I'll do one number, shout 'next', and go straight into the next one. I'm going to get in as many songs I can." Despite the odd track being missed, Rod promised his fans that his Glastonbury set will be "special". He said: "I'm really looking forward to it. And it is a different gig. ‌ "It's like when you're playing a cup final: you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special. "It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy. Not me - I'm talking about the other members of the group! "And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us. And we may have some bagpipes." ‌ The Da Ya Think I'm Sexy singer previously confessed he had "begged" the Glastonbury bosses for more time on stage. He told the Radio Times: "It's difficult because they only gave me an hour-and-a-quarter slot. "So I begged them: can I do another 15 minutes? Because usually I play for two hours." ‌ Rod headlined Glastonbury Festival back in 2002 and is now making his return 23 years later. His upcoming set will make him the first artist to top both the bill at the Pyramid Stage and play the now iconic tea time slot. Other Glastonbury headliners this weekend include the 1975, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts and Olivia Rodrigo.

'My cousin's baby name is horrific – they sound like an erotic star'

A woman has shared her disgust after hearing what he cousin named her daughter - as she compares the moniker to what you'd expect an erotic dancer to go by in the club A woman has slammed her cousin for giving her daughter an X-rated name that would 'haunt her throughout her life'. She explained how her entire family shared their concerns about the moniker - but she went through with it despite their warnings. Taking to Reddit, she says her cousin named her daughter Sextina, to be pronounced Seh-Tina in their accent, but it was quickly mistaken for Sex-Tina by others outside of their household. She said: "We're Latino, so I asked my mum if it was supposed to be said with an accent but no. ‌ "Her parents were fully Americanized so they weren't even pronouncing it with an accent or had any sort of 'mistranslation' excuse. They were just trying to be yoo-nique and different. They thought Christina was too plain. ‌ "The entire family was against it and bullied the crap out of Sextina's mum until she finally changed it when the kid was about two-years-old. I don't know what the new name is but it was normal." She says her family started to nicknaming the child 'Sexy' simply to prove a point and push her into changing her daughter's name before she started school. She added: "Spoke to my mum and she clarified that they (the parents) were calling her Sexy, which the rest of the family/everyone they met hated to the point someone called CPS (child protection services.) "Mum's not sure if it was family or the paediatrician because apparently the doctors/nurses at her check-ups did not like that. "According to the parents they didn't mean it in a sexual way but as a cute nickname. Like Richard turns into Dick which turns into Dicky. But… .obviously that didn't work here. ‌ "Accusations were thrown around but luckily they weren't actually abusing their kid. They were just really, really dumb. So the mum changed the name to avoid the accusations." Commenting on her post, one user said: "I know someone named Maria Sixtina. Her family was super, super Catholic. So Maria (Mary) and Sixtina, which is the Spanish name for the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Another user added: "I used to work for a college. I saw a lot of names. Best was a super serious honour roll nursing student: Flirtasia. She went by Asia… Runner up K-Lee. But our system didn't process hyphens so her name on the card was Klee." A third user said: "Made me think about this woman who used to work where I work named Sexionna. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that." Another user said: "I remember meeting a woman named Sevena Cedaria. When she was born, her father got the news when he was standing by seven cedar trees. A sight like that is definitely worth recording in his daughter's history."
