Langley police investigating after woman suffers 'severe burns' in targeted assault

Police are investigating after a woman was left with severe burn injuries in what's being called a targeted assault. Langley RCMP were called Saturday around 6:35 p.m. to the 20300-block Fraser Highway for a woman who was in distress. At the scene, police found a 33-year-old woman who was suffering from severe burns. She was taken to hospital and is expected to survive. 'This does not appear to be a random act. We believe the victim was deliberately exposed to an unknown substance, resulting in serious burns consistent with an intentional act,' said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom. 'We're urging anyone who may have information about this incident to contact our investigators.' Anyone who was in the area or who may have dashboard camera footage of the area around the time of the attack is asked to contact investigators. Any witnesses who may have information or drivers with dash cam footage can call the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and cite file number 2025-22290. sip@

Police in Langley, B.C., are investigating after a woman sustained serious burns in what investigators believe was a targeted assault over the weekend. Officers with the Langley RCMP responded to a report of a woman in distress in the 20300 block of the Fraser Highway at approximately 6:35 p.m. Saturday. Police found the 33-year-old victim 'suffering from severe burns,' according to a news release from the detachment Monday. The woman was transported to hospital for urgent treatment of her injuries. 'This does not appear to be a random act,' said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, in the release. 'We believe the victim was deliberately exposed to an unknown substance, resulting in serious burns consistent with an intentional act.' Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact investigators Anyone with video from the area at the time of the attack is also asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.

An under-construction house burns in Langley on Wednesday, July 9. Mounties in Langley are investigating a fire at a construction site Wednesday morning. The Langley RCMP says officers responded to a report of a structure fire around 12:30 a.m. in the 19600 block of 48 Avenue. Upon police arrival, the house, which was unoccupied, was fully engulfed in flames. Langley City Fire Rescue Service and police are now working to determine the cause. According to a release issued by Langley RCMP, Mounties were called to a report of shots being fired around Willoughby Way and 200 Street, near Meadows Edge Park, at around 5:32 p.m. Attending officers 'located evidence consistent with a shooting,' and a 48-year-old man was taken to hospital for 'further assessment,' police said. Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said the investigation is still in its early stages and a motive behind the incident is still to be determined. Anyone with any relevant information, including dash cam video taken in the area between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 25-21567. Motorists are advised to expect road closures and delays in the area.

On Saturday, a radar gun recorded a Ferrari travelling 124 km/h in a 50 km/h zone near Wagonwheel Crescent and 56th Avenue, according to police. Just under 100 metres away, the radar gave a second reading of 123 km/h. Police impounded the Ferrari for seven days, and the driver, a 48-year-old man from Surrey, was handed a $483 fine for excessive speeding. 'Driving at such excessive speeds in neighborhoods where families live and children play is completely unacceptable,' said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom with the Langley RCMP, in a news release Monday. 'We take these violations seriously and will continue our enforcement efforts to keep our roads safe.'
