Basketball Federation announces Republic Youth Championship start date
Sana'a - Saba: The Yemeni General Basketball Federation announced the date of the Republic Championship for first-class youth clubs born in 2005 for the 2024/2025 season during the period from March 11-16. The Federation confirmed that the tournament competitions will be held in Sana'a with the participation of first-class clubs, namely Shaab Hadramout, Sayoun, Al-Barq Tarim, Shamsan, Al-Mina, Al-Tilal, Wahda Sana'a, and Al-Ahly Sana'a. A meeting at the Federation's headquarters, headed by Chairman of the Board of Directors Abdul Sattar Al-Hamdani, and including the Federation's Secretary-General Jamal Ibrahim and the Chairman of the Competitions Committee Hamoud Taher, discussed the organizational and technical aspects of holding the tournament. The tournament was scheduled to be held last January, but the federation was forced to postpone it due to the pressure of the men's first division league matches, as well as in response to the clubs' request during the technical meeting held last January. The eight teams will compete in two groups to win the Youth Championship title for those born in 2005. The first group includes the teams Shaab Hadramout, Ahli Sana'a, Sayoun and Shamsan, while the second group includes the teams of Al-Mina, Wahda Sana'a, Al-Barq Tarim and Al-Tilal. The teams of each group will play each other in a one-to-one system, with the first and second from each group qualifying for the golden square, which will be held in a scissors system to determine the qualifiers for the final. Al-Minaa continues to chase leader, Al-Wahda Sana'a, Al-Tilal win in first division basketball league
Sana'a - Saba: Al-Minaa team achieved a great victory over the Sayoun team with a score of 86-49 in the third stage of the First Division Basketball League, which strengthened its position in second place with 14 points, reducing the gap with the leader Shaab Hadramout (16 points). The match witnessed the brilliance of Nasser Abdullah Farhan, who won the Man of the Match award. On the other hand, Sayoun continued its negative results and remained in last place without any victory. In another match, Wahda Sana'a won with difficulty over Shamsan with a score of 61-56, after an equal performance between the two teams, raising its score to 13 points in third place, while Shamsan remained in seventh place with 8 points. Iyad Al-Dahbali from Wahda Sana'a shone and won the Man of the Match award. Al-Tilal team also defeated Al-Barq Tarim with a score of 58-48 in a match that witnessed a close level, so Al-Tilal rose to fourth place with 10 points, ahead of Al-Barq by a point difference. The competition stops tomorrow before resuming on Thursday with three matches, the most prominent of which is the summit of the stage between Shaab Hadramout and Al-Mina.
