Bengaluru wants demo after famous TV actor credits Mumbai traffic jams for his impressive physique and fitness
For most people, staying fit at 45 might involve intense gym routines or rigorous diets. But for popular television star Shabbir Ahluwalia , the key to fitness lies in navigating the chaos of Mumbai traffic on two wheels. During a light-hearted conversation on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's YouTube podcast, the actor opened up about how his long-standing habit of cycling to work , initially adopted as a practical solution, has now evolved into an integral part of his life. Shabbir shared that nearly 10 to 12 years ago, he began cycling once or twice a week—not with fitness in mind, but as a workaround to Mumbai's painfully slow commute. The set for his television show back then was around 9 kilometres away from his residence. However, what should have been a short drive would end up taking him close to an hour and a half by car. Frustrated, he took to cycling, which allowed him to cover the distance in just 15–20 minutes. Eventually, the distance increased, and he now comfortably pedals over 20 to 25 kilometres each way, twice a week. A Ride that Transforms Currently portraying the passionate Yug Sinha in Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil , Shabbir has turned his cycling routine into much more than just a commute. What started as a time-saving trick has become a grounding ritual that aligns him with his demanding on-screen role. The morning ride prepares both his body and mind, offering a meditative space to shift gears—from his real-life responsibilities to the emotionally intense world of his character. In an interview with IANS , Shabbir described this practice as a transition that clears his head and focuses his energy. He believes the act of pedaling through the early hours gives him clarity and composure, essential traits for the complex scenes he performs during long shooting schedules. According to the actor, the calm and rhythm he finds on the road help him tune into Yug's emotionally layered personality, allowing for a seamless transformation from self to character. Positivity on Set This cycling habit has also caught the attention of his crew members. He says a cycling session helps him be energetic and upbeat and ready to deal with high-voltage drama on a TV series set. The energy he brings after his ride sets an upbeat tone for the entire team. He explained that this discipline not only boosts physical stamina but also acts as a mental reset. The continuity of the routine helps him stay grounded while channeling the emotional intensity of his role. Cycling has become a form of therapy, a ritual that energizes his spirit and adds authenticity to his performance, he told IANS . Journey from TV Heartthrob to Action Winner Shabbir Ahluwalia has had a remarkable journey in the Indian television and entertainment industry. Best known for playing Abhishek Prem Mehra in the long-running series Kumkum Bhagya, he has won accolades for his acting talent and screen presence. Beyond acting, he also took home the title in Season 3 of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. His hosting credits include shows like Nach Baliye, Guinness World Records—Ab India Todega, and Dancing Queen. He rose to prominence with pivotal roles in popular serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Kahi To Milenge, Kasamh Se, Kkavyanjali, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kayamath, and Laagi Tujhse Lagan. On the big screen, he made his Bollywood debut in Shootout at Lokhandwala, followed by Mission Istanbul. Family and Social Media Fame Shabbir tied the knot with actress Kanchi Kaul in 2011. They became parents to their first son in 2014 and welcomed their second child two years later. His unique fitness journey recently went viral on Facebook, sparking admiration and humorous responses. One Bengaluru user quipped that if cycling in Mumbai gets you a fit body, then pedaling in Bengaluru would leave you as ripped as the Hulk. Another shared admiration for a man who cycles 25 kilometres each way to work daily in Bangalore, praising his remarkable fitness level. Shabbir's story stands as a reminder that fitness doesn't always require gyms or gadgets—sometimes, it just takes a bicycle and a bit of determination to turn daily challenges into lifelong habits.

'Telangana govt will promote Urdu', says advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir; lays foundation for Ghar-cum-Hajj house complex, aims to safeguard Muslim community's heritage
HYDERABAD: Advisor to state govt, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, on Monday reiterated the Congress govt's commitment to promoting the Urdu language and preserving the cultural and educational heritage of the Muslim community. Shabbir was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for a five-storey Urdu Ghar-cum-Hajj House complex in Mahabubnagar. "This Urdu Ghar and Hajj House will be a symbol of culture and community service, blending modern infrastructure with traditional values, reflecting the vision of the Congress govt in the state," he said. Commenting on the present status of Urdu, he pointed out that the community itself bears some responsibility. "After SSC, students are opting for Arabic or other languages as their second language in intermediate. Many colleges today don't have even 10 students choosing Urdu as a language. I know about a college where two students opted for Urdu, but the college refused to offer it, saying no other students were willing to take it," he said.

Billboards pose risk as storm season nears
A constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to the Government of Sindh, the Director General of SBCA (Sindh Building Control Authority), and others on a petition filed against the installation of billboards. The petition, filed by Altaf Shakoor was presented by the petitioner's counsel, Khurram Lakhani Advocate. He argued that despite a clear ruling by the Supreme Court, illegal billboards have been installed throughout the city. With the monsoon season approaching, these billboards pose a serious threat and could lead to major accidents. In some cases, billboards have even been installed on people's homes without their consent. Taking notice of the concerns, the bench issued formal notices to the concerned authorities. The court remarked that the petition would be heard in detail immediately after the judicial vacation. Protection ordered The SHC has ordered protection for a couple who embraced Islam and married of their own free will. The court heard a petition filed by Zainab and her husband Shabbir, who approached the court against harassment. The couple's lawyer stated that Zainab willingly converted to Islam and married Shabbir Ahmed by choice. However, her family has been harassing them by lodging complaints at multiple police stations against Shabbir. They are reportedly issuing threats of honour killing (Karo Kari). The petitioner requested the court to stop the police from registering further cases against them and dismiss the existing complaints.

Dealer booked for failing to transfer ownership of auctioned government bikes in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In what investigators describe as a strange case, Avalahally police have registered a criminal case against a two-wheeler dealer who allegedly failed to transfer ownership and update registration numbers after purchasing govt vehicles in an e-auction conducted by the state police' wireless department. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accused has been identified as Sayed Ahamad Shabbir, owner of S Traders, based at Medahalli village near KR Pura. He is facing charges under section 314 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (dishonest misappropriation of property), along with relevant sections of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. According to a complaint filed by Sheetal Shirahatti, an officer of the SP Wireless Office on MG Road, Shabbir participated in an e-auction held on May 18, 2023, where he successfully bid for eight two-wheelers. However, after acquiring the vehicles, he allegedly failed to complete the mandatory ownership transfer at the RTO or change the registration numbers. The issue surfaced recently during a routine audit of auctioned vehicle records. Upon checking with the RTO, officials discovered that the ownership details of the sold bikes had not been updated, despite the dealer having taken possession of them. In a troubling revelation, Shirahatti said the bikes continued to bear govt registration numbers, marked under the "G" series. This raised serious concerns over the possible misuse of the vehicles that were supposed to be either scrapped or sold with proper documentation. A senior investigator said: "We cross-checked the vehicle registration details on the Vahan Parivahan portal. Curiously, some entries show that ownership has been updated online, even though there is no corresponding update at the RTO. We are trying to understand how this discrepancy occurred." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He added that there is no clarity yet on whether the dealer resold the vehicles to the public, disposed of them as scrap, or if someone is currently using the vehicles with govt registration plates still attached. "To get to the bottom of this, we have filed a formal complaint." "So far, we've only received preliminary details from the wireless office, such as the registration numbers, vehicle models, and manufacturers. We've requested additional documents and will match them with RTO records. Once verified, we will summon the dealer for questioning," he added. "This is a very strange case and the first of its kind we've encountered. We are proceeding cautiously and thoroughly before initiating any further action," the officer added, noting that Shabbir is yet to be contacted for his statement. The incident raises larger questions about monitoring procedures for vehicle auctions and the integrity of post-auction protocols meant to prevent potential misuse of govt-registered vehicles.
