This was emphasised by His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, as he attended the Huawei Bahrain 2024 ICT Talent Achievement Closing Ceremony. The event was attended by H.E. Ni Ruchi, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain. In his keynote address, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed underscored the importance of high-impact educational initiatives that help identify and develop young Bahraini talent, equipping them with digital skills to compete on regional and international levels. Strategic programmes He commended Huawei's ongoing efforts in supporting education and skill-building through strategic programmes such as the ICT Competition, describing it as a vital platform for fostering innovation and preparing youth to meet future technological challenges. The Transportation Minister noted that such initiatives play a key role in shaping a digitally advanced society and enhancing the Kingdom's position in the global technology landscape. He also underlined the importance of public-private partnerships in aligning academic outcomes with labour market demands, especially as the ICT sector continues to evolve rapidly. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed reiterated the ministry's commitment to enabling innovation by maintaining a supportive regulatory framework, ensuring secure digital infrastructure, and encouraging investment in emerging technologies, all aligned with the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. During the event, students, faculty, and mentors were honoured across various categories for their achievements.

TDT | Berlin His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, highlighted Bahrain's integrated strategy to enhance the resilience and sustainability of its transport and logistics systems. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed was speaking as participated in the International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit, held in Leipzig, Federal Republic of Germany, from May 21 to 23. Organised under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the summit brings together transport ministers, international organisations, private sector representatives, experts, and academics. The Minister outlined the Kingdom's proactive approach, built on three pillars: digital transformation, public-private partnership, and human capital development. He noted that this strategy supports Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and improves preparedness to address global challenges such as climate change, cyber threats, geopolitical instability, and energy market fluctuations.

KHGC Chairman Pays Tribute to Pope Francis's Legacy of Peace and Dialogue

Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the 'King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance' (KHGC), expressed his condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. He said that the world has lost a distinguished religious and humanitarian leader who dedicated his life to promoting peace and coexistence and rejecting hatred and extremism. According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed extended condolences to the Vatican, followers of the Catholic Church, and all peace-loving peoples, highlighting that HH Pope Francis's contributions to interfaith dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence will remain alive in global consciousness. He also noted the Pope's efforts in calling for an end to conflict and supporting the poor and afflicted. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, enjoys strong cultural and religious ties with the Vatican. These were reflected in the exchange of high-level visits, most notably the Pope's historic visit to Bahrain in 2022 for the Bahrain Dialogue Forum 'East and West for Human Coexistence,' held under the patronage of His Majesty the King, as well as His Majesty's meeting with HH Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2023. These engagements underscored both sides' commitment to peace and rapprochement between peoples. He emphasised the KHGC's dedication to promoting these shared human values through continued educational and awareness programmes in partnership with international institutions, particularly the Vatican. He underscored that the efforts of the centre align with His Majesty the King's vision of tolerance and cultural diversity as a source of strength and unity. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed concluded by stating that HH Pope Francis's legacy would continue to inspire future generations to follow a path of dialogue, goodwill, and compassion, and that the Kingdom would remain steadfast in its role as a beacon of coexistence and dialogue among civilisations and cultures.
