Bahrain's Interior Minister: ‘The Palestinian Cause Lives in All Our Hearts'
'The Palestinian cause lives in all our hearts,' said Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, adding that 'the suffering of the Palestinian people is one of the deepest sources of pain for every Arab citizen.' He made the remarks as he welcomed Palestinian Interior Minister Ziad Mahmoud Hab Al-Reeh and his accompanying delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain on Tuesday. The visit, he noted, plays an important role in strengthening joint security cooperation and coordination to address the region's growing security challenges. The Palestinian minister was greeted with a ceremonial Honour Guard upon his arrival at the Interior Ministry, where he was received by Shaikh Rashid, the Deputy Interior Minister, the Chief of Public Security, and several senior officials. During the meeting, Shaikh Rashid reaffirmed Bahrain's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to all efforts aimed at achieving a just, peaceful, and lasting solution. He also stressed the importance of protecting civilians, releasing hostages and detainees, and halting escalation to preserve regional security and stability. For his part, Minister Hab Al-Reeh expressed his pride in visiting Bahrain, conveying the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas 'Abu Mazen' to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He praised Bahrain for its honorable and steadfast stance in support of the Palestinian people. The two sides held bilateral discussions focused on strengthening security coordination, improving operational collaboration, and addressing regional and international security developments. Both ministers agreed to develop new mechanisms to enhance joint efforts.

A top Bahraini artist is taking part in an international art exhibition highlighting the meeting of Eastern and Western art styles, in the historic Italian city of Trieste. Rashid Al Khalifa Art Foundation president and National Arts Council chairman Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa is showcasing his works at the East Meets West expo being held at Palazzo Tergesteo. 'I believe that art has the true power to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries and create a human dialogue that crosses borders,' Shaikh Rashid explained. 'My participation in this project stems from a deep conviction in the importance of supporting international artistic initiatives. 'The RAK Art Foundation is fully committed to backing projects that open new avenues for cross-cultural exchange and shared creative exploration.' Two of Shaikh Rashid's pieces – Altered States II and Circular Reflection – are part of the exhibition taking place at the historic building located in the heart of Trieste, known for its elegant architecture. Altered States II features circular formations, referencing Bahrain's manmade environment. In the enamel on aluminium piece, Shaikh Rashid explores modern architecture's physicality in relation to nature, focusing on attributes like material, space, place and the human condition. In the stainless steel Circular Reflection, Shaikh Rashid explores themes of minimalism, geometry, and the interplay of light and form. It utilises circular motifs and convex canvases to create a meditative and contemplative experience for the viewer. The exhibition is part of a broader initiative aimed at fostering dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions. It explores the theme of 'lightness' through three lenses – Art and Life, Art and Music, and Art and Philosophy. Featuring works from a diverse range of artists, the event offers an immersive experience celebrating the intersection of cultures and creative expression. 'International art initiatives serve as vital platforms for cultural dialogue and mutual understanding,' Shaikh Rashid added. 'In an increasingly interconnected world, art becomes a vital tool for breaking down barriers and fostering common ground between nations. 'At our foundation, we are committed to fostering diverse, inclusive creative spaces that promote collaboration and innovation.' On the sidelines of the exhibition's inauguration, Shaikh Rashid met Trieste mayor Roberto Dipiazza, who praised the artist's work and his contribution to international cultural discourse. The exhibition is curated by Laura Krainz-Leupoldt, and led by the Germany-based KLK Foundation in partnership with the RAK Art Foundation. Ms Krainz-Leupoldt described Trieste as the ideal host city, noting its multicultural heritage and long-standing role as a meeting point between East and West. She said the exhibition presents 'lightness' not as superficial, but as a concept grounded in authenticity, clarity, and inspiration. Supported by the patronage of the Trieste municipality and the Trieste Press Club, the exhibition is currently accessible to small groups by invitation, with plans to open to the wider public through guided tours in the near future. Ways of advancing GCC security co-ordination reviewed
Bahrain - Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday met GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. Shaikh Rashid commended the active role of the GCC General Secretariat in advancing Gulf co-operation in security and following up on the implementation of resolutions adopted by the bloc's Interior Ministers. The meeting reviewed several issues related to enhancing security co-ordination, as well as topics aimed at further developing joint action. The prestigious accolade, granted to heads of state and governments for their pioneering contributions to security and peace, underscores King Hamad's unwavering commitment to regional stability. The session, held under the auspices of Tunisian President Kais Saied, brought together Arab interior ministers and delegates to discuss pressing security challenges and foster collaboration. President Saied, who welcomed the ministers at the presidential palace in Carthage, emphasised the critical role of such gatherings in strengthening joint Arab security efforts. Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa led the kingdom's delegation to the high-profile meeting. The minister also unveiled two groundbreaking initiatives: an Arab strategy for public safety focused on training civilians and volunteers, and the expansion of AI-driven solutions in security operations. These proposals reflect a forward-thinking approach to addressing modern security challenges. The council's agenda covered a wide range of topics, including strategies to combat drug abuse, cybercrime, and civil protection plans. The discussions underscored the collective resolve of Arab nations to tackle evolving threats through innovation and cooperation. On the sidelines of the summit, General Shaikh Rashid held bilateral meetings with counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, and Portugal's Internal Affairs Minister, further cementing Bahrain's role as a key player in regional and international security dialogues. The awarding of the Prince Nayef Award to King Hamad marks a significant milestone in Bahrain's contributions to Arab security.
