Inspired By 'Raid', Delhi Woman Poses As CBI Officer, Executes Heist At Relative's House
The accused broke open a steel cupboard, stole gold, silver and Rs 3 lakh cash, forged signatures, and took the items claiming they were 'evidence' in a fake CBI raid In a daring heist straight out of a Bollywood script, a Delhi University scholar and caterer was robbed in his own home by three imposters posing as CBI officers. The shocking incident took place in Wazirabad, when Israt Jamili and his family were duped and looted of cash and jewellery worth lakhs. The culprits, including a distant relative of the victim, were inspired by the film Raid and were arrested days later from Uttarakhand. Israt Jamili, a catering professional with an MPhil degree from Delhi University, was at home with his family when the incident occurred. Around 7:30 pm, three individuals, a woman and two men dressed in white shirts, black trousers, and wearing face masks, knocked on his door, claiming to be CBI officers from the Okhla division. The woman stated that there was an FIR and a search warrant against them. However, when Israt requested to see the documents, the trio began to abuse him. One of the men, identifying himself as Suni Dubey, forced Israt, his wife, and their three children to stand in a corner while the other two searched the house for 'evidence'. During the search, they broke into an old steel cupboard, stealing gold and silver jewellery belonging to Israt's wife and Rs 3 lakh in cash. When Israt asked for a receipt and the procedure to reclaim the jewellery, the trio signed with fake names in his daughter's notebook, claiming the items were being taken as evidence. They fled soon after. Israt grew suspicious, questioning why the supposed CBI officers wore masks and lacked identification or a copy of the FIR. He immediately contacted the police. Police raided the homes of Shaina and Keshav but found them empty. Their phone locations revealed they were frequently changing spots across Uttarakhand. On Friday evening, the police apprehended Keshav and Shaina in Mussoorie, and their third accomplice, Vivek Singh, was arrested in Haridwar. According to the police, Shaina confessed to the crime, explaining that Israt was her distant relative, and she had learned through family gossip about the cash in his house. She orchestrated the theft and involved her friend Keshav, who owns a food supplement shop in Haridwar. Keshav then enlisted Vivek, who studies at Delhi University's School of Open Learning. Police said that Shaina got the idea for the heist after watching the Bollywood film 'Raid'. They staged a fake CBI raid and stole jewellery and cash worth lakhs. However, with the police's prompt action and CCTV footage, all three were soon caught. On Israt's complaint, the police registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 307 (preparation of violence for theft), 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by concealing identity), and 334 (dishonestly stealing goods by breaking the lock). A police team, led by SHO Manoj Verma, scanned 200 CCTV footages of the area. The investigation revealed that the bike seen in the footage was registered to Shaina, a resident of Karawal Nagar, and was driven by Keshav Prasad of Shanti Nagar. view comments First Published: July 21, 2025, 15:29 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. The accused have been identified as Shaina alias Tannu (22), Keshav Prasad (28), and Vivek Singh (20). Delhi woman orchestrates robbery at relative's house with 2 friends posing as CBI officers
A woman, allegedly inspired by the Bollywood film Raid, got two friends to pose as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers and rob her relative in Delhi's Wazirabad area, said the police. The three accused were arrested Friday. On July 10, at around 7.30 pm. Israt Jameel, a catering business owner, was at home in Gali No. 9, Wazirabad, when he heard a knock on the door. Three masked people, one woman and two men, all clad in sharp white shirts and black pleated pants, were at his door. They introduced themselves as CBI officers of the Okhla division, the police said. Jameel, a MPhil from Delhi University and a former Railways food contractor, was concerned. There was no reason for a central agency to knock on the door of his home in a lower-middle-class locality of North Delhi. He asked the CBI officials the same, trying to check their credentials. 'They said they had an FIR and search warrant against them. When the complainant asked for a copy of the FIR and search warrant, they rebuked and abused him,' DCP (North) Raja Banthia said. One of the three CBI impersonators allegedly introduced himself as Suni Dubey, and moved Jameel, his wife and their three children to a corner. The other two searched the house for 'evidence', before they hopped onto an old steel almirah, said the police. They allegedly broke open the lock and took the jewellery of Jameel's wife, both gold and silver, along with Rs 3 lakh cash. 'Before they (accused) left the house, Jameel asked for the receipt of the jewellery articles and the procedure to retrieve them. The three accused put their signatures on Jameel's daughter's notebook under fake names and wrote that they were taking the proceeds as evidence. Then they escaped,' DCP Banthia said. Jameel, still finding it odd that he had been raided by officers wearing masks, with no identity card or FIR to show for it, called the police. An FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 307 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint), 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by personation), and 334 (dishonestly breaking open a receptacle containing property) was registered at the Wazirabad police station. The police then scanned through 200 CCTVs in the area, and found the bike of the accused. The bike, the police said, was registered in the name of a woman named Shaina, 22, a resident of the Karawal Nagar area. The other accused seen on the bike was recognised as Keshav Prashad, 28, a resident of Shanti Nagar in Delhi. Both their houses were raided, but neither of them was found. The police then put their phones on tracking and found that the accused were constantly shifting locations in Uttarakhand. 'The police team followed their location and on Friday evening, the accused Keshav Prasad and Shaina were apprehended from Mussurie, Uttarakhand and at their instance, other accomplice Vivek Singh was apprehended from Haridwar,' DCP Banthia said. The police said Shaina confessed to the crime, saying that Jameel is her distant relative. Based on family hearsay, she learned about the cash he kept in his house and devised the plan. She then allegedly roped in Keshav, a friend who owns a food supplement store in Haridwar. Keshav then called his friend Vivek, 20, a student at the School of Open Learning, University of Delhi, who also joined in, said the police.

Fans waited four hours to enter, but ‘2025 BTS Festa' delivered like never before
The world tunes in as two-day offline event welcomes fans around the world The highly anticipated '2025 BTS Festa' kicked off Friday at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, drawing BTS fans from around the world to celebrate the group's debut on June 13, 2013. The two-day event runs through Saturday as part of the annual 'BTS Festa,' which this year marks the band's 11th anniversary. "2025 BTS Festa" opened its doors at 10 a.m. in Halls 9 and 10 of Kintex Exhibition Center II. From the start, crowds stretched nearly a kilometer outside the venue, with the line showing no signs of shrinking -- even as the 7 p.m. closing time neared. Most BTS fans, known as Army, waited anywhere from two to five hours just to get in. Shaina, a Canadian fan who traveled from Canada, said she waited more than four hours to enter. 'It was tough to get in and rough standing in line. But the Festa itself is great. I'm a BTS fan and came a long way — I'm really enjoying it,' she said. Over the years, the event has evolved into a global tradition for both BTS and Army, with fans traveling to South Korea each June to take part in the festivities. This year's offline event opened to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. without any need for reservations. To support international attendees, staff fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese were stationed throughout the venue. Event materials, including the official website and printed guides, were made available in four languages. 'I've been Army since 2017 and I'm a fan of RM. Of course I love BTS and all their festivals — that's why I'm here,' said Jennie, a fan from Indonesia. 'It's my first time attending BTS Festa. This event is so cool,' added Rini, another Indonesian fan. 'I've been a BTS fan for two years. It feels amazing that my favorite member, Jimin, got discharged.' To help thousands of fans navigate the venue more comfortably, real-time crowd density updates for each exhibition zone are posted every 30 minutes on the official website. A paid shuttle bus service also operates between Kintex GTX Station and Goyang Sports Complex, where J-Hope's solo encore concert 'J-Hope Tour 'Hope on The Stage' Final' is being held Friday. The venue featured a wide range of interactive installations and photo spots, including the Army Bomb Photo Spot and Whale Photo Spot. Starting at noon, a coordinated light show using fans' 'Army Bomb' light sticks lit up the hall every hour on the hour, creating a striking visual spectacle. Fans also explored exhibition spaces such as the "Voice Zone," where they could hear BTS members' recorded messages, and the "Spotify Playlist Zone" offering member-recommended tracks via NFC. The 'BTS Locker' display offered a glimpse into each member's unique style and preferences. Hands-on sections such as the 'DIY Zone,' 'Game Zone' and 'Coloring Wall' added interactive fun to the experience, while the 'Trophy Zone' showcased BTS' major awards, allowing fans to reflect on the group's accomplishments and shared journey with Army. 'My favorite spot was the capsule. But I also liked the Coloring Wall,' said Malani, a fan visiting from Boston. Kyla, who came from New York, agreed: 'I loved the Coloring Wall where we could draw and write messages to BTS. I also liked the AI thing — it was super cool.'
