Decomposed body found in sack near Bengaluru drain, second case in recent days

A decomposed body stuffed inside a gunny bag was found near a drainage canal in a remote area in Bengaluru Rural district. The discovery has led to a police investigation into what is believed to be a suspected murder. The identity of the deceased and the motive remain suspect the crime took place elsewhere and that the body was later brought to the spot close to Bashettihalli in Doddaballapur Taluk, and dumped. Officers from Doddaballapur Rural Police Station, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravi and Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba, visited the scene, and confirmed that the incident is being treated as suspicious. Forensic teams have been deployed to examine the area and collect of Police CK Baba said, 'The offence appears to have occurred elsewhere. The body was packed, brought here, and dumped near a drain. From the main road, you have to go inside, it's an isolated area. The gunny bag with the body was thrown into the drain,' he said. He added that the victim appeared to be a male, likely a Hindu, aged between 35 and 40. The SP further said, 'Though we received information about it this morning, the death seems to have occurred at least a week ago. The body was completely decomposed, possibly more than a week old.'Baba also noted that the remote location made it difficult for anyone to notice the body. 'Since it was dumped next to a large drain, people could not smell it easily. Also, the road leading to the spot is rarely used. One would have to step into the drain and cross it to reach the location. So, it seems like a well-planned move to dispose of the body in a secluded place,' he further stated that there is no CCTV at the location of the drain itself, but the police are reviewing footage from surrounding areas in an attempt to trace movements related to the incident follows a similar case in Bengaluru, where the body of a woman was found dumped in a garbage truck on June 29. Police arrested 33-year-old Shamsuddin from Assam, her live-in partner. According to police sources, their relationship had recently become strained due to arguments, reportedly linked to the woman's alcohol use and late-night phone calls. On the night of the incident, Shamsuddin allegedly returned home drunk, and after an altercation, strangled her to death.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Bengaluru#Karnataka

Police said the two had been in a relationship for over 18 months and were living together in a rented house for the past six months. On Saturday night, at 9.30pm, the couple had an argument at home, allegedly over Asha's habits. In a fit of rage, Shamsuddin strangled her with his hands. After confirming she's dead, Shamsuddin placed her body inside a sack, loaded it onto her Honda Activa scooter, and rode nearly 8km to CT Bed in Chennammanakere Achukattu, Banashankari 3rd Stage. There, near the skating ground on Mori Road, he found a garbage truck parked unattended and dumped the body inside it before returning home. Mustaf, who visits the site every couple of days as both he and his wife are working professionals and miss BBMP waste collection timings, noticed a suspiciously large polythene bag inside the garbage. Upon inspecting using his phone's torch, he spotted what appeared to be a human head with bloodstains inside a blue inner bag. Confession & Contradictions During interrogation, Shamsuddin confessed to the crime and revealed details of their relationship. The two had met while working as a housekeeping staffer at a supermarket and started living together after he changed jobs. Asha had continued working at the same supermarket while Shamsuddin took up a security job nearby. He told police that Asha frequently consumed alcohol and was often on the phone, which led to frequent quarrels. On the night of the murder, a similar argument escalated into physical violence, culminating in her death. Couple told landlord that they're married The couple had introduced themselves to their landlord as husband and wife, claiming their children lived with relatives. Police said Asha was a widow who had adopted her brother's children and placed them in a hostel.
