Two men injured in ship explosion at Limerick port
Two men have been seriously injured after an explosion on a ship in County Limerick in the Republic of Ireland. It happened at Shannon Foynes Port on Tuesday evening. Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported that the men were carrying out routine maintenance on the ship when a gas cylinder exploded at about 18: services, including gardaí (Irish police) and paramedics, attended the scene and two men were taken to hospital.
The port was closed for a time on Tuesday night. In a statement to RTÉ Shannon Foynes Port Company said the accident is being investigated by relevant authorities and the matter on board the ship "has been made safe".
