Tiruchi RPO gets certificate of excellence
The Regional Passport Office has been awarded the certificate of excellence in passport service delivery to citizens during 2024-25. The certificate was presented by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita to Sharanappa Talwar, Regional Passport Officer, during the Annual Passport Officers' Conference and Passport Seva Divas held in New Delhi recently. The recognition highlights the Tiruchi Regional Passport Office's commitment to service, quality and efficiency in passport delivery. The office has two Passport Seva Kendras at Tiruchi and Thanjavur and and five Post Office Passport Seva Kendras at Karur, Perambalur, Sirkali, Thiruthuraipoondi and Karaikal, Mr. Talwar said in a press release. A mobile Passport Seva Van has also been introduced. The mobile van travels to different parts of the districts under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport office and processes the applications online on a real-time basis. In line with Government of India's commitment to deliver the next level of citizen centric service, PSP V2.O and the e-Passports have been rolled out this year, the release further said.

Mobile Passport Seva Van flagged off in Tiruchi
A Mobile Passport Seva Van was flagged off at the Tiruchi Regional Passport Office by K.J. Srinivasa, Joint Secretary (Passport Seva Programme) and Chief Passport Officer, said here recently. The initiative is aimed at taking passport services to the doorstep of citizens. The van would travel to different parts of the districts under the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office and process applications online. Twenty appointments were released on Sunday, June 15, and 18 of the applications were processed during a trial run of the service, Sharanappa Talwar, Passport Officer, Tiruchi, said in a press release. Mr. Srinivasa visited the Passport Seva Kendra in Thanjavur and the Post Office Passport Kendra at Sizkazhi and interacted with the staff. He held a meeting with officials at the Regional Passport Office in Tiruchi, the release added.

IMA Tiruchi holds World Health Day programme
The Tiruchi chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) held a programme to mark World Health Day on the theme 'Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures' on Wednesday. The function was inaugurated by Sharanappa Talwar, Passport Officer, Tiruchi, in the presence of Ganapathy Sundar, vice-president, IMA Tiruchi, M.S. Ashraf, former national vice-president of IMA, and senior officials. Experts spoke on a range of subjects related to maternal and newborn health, in keeping with World Health Organisation's motto for this year's Health Day celebration. K. Senthilkumar, head, Neonatology, Maa Kauvery Hospital, spoke on the importance of breastfeeding and ensuring a smooth transition period for mother and child. In her address, Uma Velmurugan, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Apollo Hospitals, focused on various aspects of ante-natal healthcare and issues faced during pregnancy. Arun Seshachalam, head, Oncology, Dr. G.V.N. Cancer Institute, spoke on healthy lifestyle choices that could aid in cancer prevention. Dr. Ashraf and Mr. Talwar spoke at the event.
