Analyst Claims Shedeur Sanders Will Start High on Browns' Training Camp Depth Chart
Analyst Claims Shedeur Sanders Will Start High on Browns' Training Camp Depth Chart originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns are the NFL team with the most "name" quarterbacks on their roster, as they currently have five guys who have all entered the public consciousness. Advertisement As a result, as training camp approaches, the team has to decide where all of those guys will go on their depth chart. And one analyst believes — privately, we assume — that the decision has already been made. One of the team's QBs is former Colorado superstar Shedeur Sanders, who the team took in the fifth round of the April NFL Draft after he slid all the way from projections that suggested he might go in the first. Some think he has some growing (and growing up) to do, but others say the Browns should trust him going into the 2025 season. How strong is the opinion of some in that "others" class? Advertisement "When you and me both know that this man has the most upside of any other quarterback on this roster, there is no way that Shedeur Sanders is not entering training camp, for me, as QB No. 2 on this Browns depth chart," analyst "Earl Da Pearl" Mauldin said on 92.3 The Fan. With all due respect to "Earl Da Pearl" ... we know no such thing. And neither does he. There are realistically four guys that will be competing for the starting job in Cleveland, as Deshaun Watson is still recovering from a twice-ruptured right Achilles tendon. As a result of Watson's woes, Sanders has a better chance of earning the job ... or, at least, of making the team. Advertisement But at this stage? There is no evidence that he will be or should be ranked ahead of Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett or fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted in the third round ... ahead of Shedeur ... For a reason. The 23-year-old quarterback finished his final season with the Buffaloes with 4,134 yards and 27 touchdowns on 74 percent completion, all of which led the Big 12 Conference. No matter how you feel about the rookie QB — and he is already a polarizing figure — there is no denying that he is talented at some level ... and he will be looking to use that talent to earn the Browns' starting spot in his rookie season. Advertisement Or ... to just make the team. Browns Fans Dealt Bad News in Latest Record Predictions
Browns Fans Dealt Bad News in Latest Record Predictions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns finished dead last in the AFC North this past season with a very disappointing 3-14 record. So for the most part, there is nowhere to go but up this season. Advertisement In a recent article by NFL Spin Zone's Sayre Bedinger, he predicts the record of every AFC North when the end of the 2025 season rolls around. And for the Browns, he predicts them to finish with the same record they did last season. "Let me be clear about something here: I think the Browns will be lucky to win three games," Bedinger wrote. "I will happily eat crow later this season if the Browns end up outkicking their coverage here. The reality facing this team in 2025 is that they have a bad offensive line, a bad quarterback situation, a lot of young players getting broken in, and they are missing one of their best defensive players already. This is not making fun of the Browns for the sake of doing so. They are just in a rough situation." Star edge rusher Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will not be able to play in 2025 due to a neck injury that he sustained this past season, so the team will be without one of their better players on defense. As for the offense, the Browns have five quarterbacks on their roster, and it is not abundantly clear which one should be the starter. With veterans like Joe Flacco, and then somewhat promising rookies like Shedeur Sanders, it is really a toss up in Cleveland's QB room. Advertisement The team has nothing to lose, so they will be looking to prove the doubters wrong and surprise some people in 2025. Cam Newton Uses Joe Flacco to Deliver a Hard Truth to Shedeur Sanders
Cam Newton Uses Joe Flacco to Deliver a Hard Truth to Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Auburn Tigers Heisman Trophy Award winner Cam Newton had an exceptional football career, but it did not come without its speed bumps. He began his college career with the Florida Gators, where off-the-field issues resulted in just 13 pass attempts over two years before transferring to Blinn College. Advertisement Newton grinded at the JUCO level for a season before remerging at Auburn, leading the Tigers to a national championship in his lone season and vaulting himself to the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Cleveland Browns quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders (left) and Joe Flacco (right)Ken Blaze-Imagn Images; Jeff Lange / USA TODAY NETWORK The dual-threat passer hit the ground running against the world's toughest competition, winning Rookie of the Year in 2011 and the MVP in 2015. Newton followed up his MVP season with a career-worst campaign but then had back-to-back respectable seasons in 2017 and 2018, followed by a Lisfranc fracture that derailed his 2019 year. Newton played two more seasons before his retirement and has since transitioned into joining the media, highlighted by his show "\4th&1 with Cam Newton." Advertisement On Thursday, Newton, as he does every week, shared his thoughts on the top stories surrounding the NFL, drawing on his experiences in both the NFL and college. Newton spoke on the dynamic that is likely to take place within the Cleveland Browns quarterback room, with the NFC North club housing veteran Super Bowl champ Joe Flacco and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Newton believes it would be beneficial for the young quarterbacks to remain diligent in Flacco's everyday habits, including film study and workouts, rather than relying on him for mentorship. "It is nobody's job to teach you nothing. It is your job to make sure that you learn at your rate," said Newton when discussing why most young quarterbacks flameout, or at least never reach star status. Newton continued, saying, "You can't take the elevator to success… this game is manual." Advertisement Cleveland made waves this offseason, selecting the sliding Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Colorado Buffaloes last season while finishing eighth in Heisman voting. Cleveland Browns' Brenden Bates reenacts iconic 'Happy Gilmore' golf swing...with unfortunate results
Cleveland Browns star Brenden Bates attempted to reenact the iconic Happy Gilmore golf shot, with his version ending in disaster, as he was sprawled out in the tee box. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end tried to walk up to the ball instead of hitting it with his driver while stationary. Bates starts his approach and puts all his strength behind his drive before missing the ball and awkwardly twisting to the grass. Bates ended up on his back after doing a full twist in the air, with the torque from his body causing his golf club to leave his hands. Bates knows he missed up badly on his swing, as he stays lying down behind the tee box for a few seconds as the video ends. The Kentucky alumnus is attempt to make his first 53-man NFL roster after failing to do so with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets last year. Browns TE Brenden Bates tried the Happy Gilmore swing and failed miserably 😂 @te_university | @BatesBrenden — NFL (@NFL) June 26, 2025 Bates was viewed as a trendy pick to make the Bears' roster last season, with a rookie Caleb Williams as the starting quarterback. It is a little case of deja vu this year, as he attempts to make a roster with a high-profile rookie quarterback responsible for passing him the ball in Shedeur Sanders. Bates made headlines late last month by hauling in a tough pass from Sanders and getting both feet down in bounds for a mini-camp touchdown. His golf game does not appear to be as locked in, unlike Gilmore's, who has beginner's luck with three amazing drives in the 1996 cult classic. Bates does have a tough position battle ahead of him, with David Njoku locked in as the Browns' starting tight end.

Shedeur Sanders Gets Roasted by Brother After Second Speeding Ticket
Shedeur Sanders Gets Roasted by Brother After Second Speeding Ticket originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Sanders brothers might be the most underrated duo in this year's NFL rookie class. Both of Coach Prime's sons are vying for roster spots for their respective teams, but Shedeur hasn't been out of the spotlight since the NFL Draft slide. Meanwhile, Shilo is forging his own path in the league. Advertisement Shedeur has gone from being a Colorado legend to making noise on and off the field in Cleveland. He was recently clocked going 101 MPH and reportedly received his second speeding ticket as a member of the Browns. This caught the attention of Shilo, but as CEO of the Headache Gang, he picked the best time to take a jab at his brother. During his latest video, Shilo was crossing the street in downtown Tampa with caution and said, 'We gotta be careful crossing the street, especially if Shedeur is out here.' One of Shilo's best qualities has always been his humor. From the best impression of Coach Prime to the classic back-and-forth banter with Shedeur, he definitely could make a second career in comedy. Advertisement Many remember the Sanders brothers in Paris for the Louis Vuitton Fashion Show two years ago with Shedeur and the 'Trash Bag' puffy coat incident. He had on a Marni black coat during the day of the walk through for the show and matched that with a white handbag, which made quite the statement. "Shedeur, that is cute," Shilo said at the time. "That bag is cute. You're tripping." He went on to tell his brother, "I could swing on you right now and it's not going to hurt," Shilo said. "You're doing too much." The former Colorado defensive back then made a call to Deion for his opinion. That opened up the floor for Shedeur to get roasted even further. Advertisement Related: Why Travis Hunter Chose Lil Wayne's Agency for NFL Success It's nice to see the joking side of Shilo hasn't gone away. As for Shedeur, speeding tickets are a reminder that life comes at you fast and it's time to slow down. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 23, 2025, where it first appeared.
