Aldi chicken recalled as shoppers urged 'do not eat' due to choking risk

BM Food Ltd is recalling a batch of its chicken products, which are sold in Aldi due to the possible presence of plastic, making it unsafe to eat due to choking risks A chicken product sold by Aldi has been urgently recalled over concerns it may contain pieces of plastic. BM Foods Ltd is withdrawing its Chicken Cooked Meat Trimmings from sale, as the possible presence of plastic poses a choking hazard making the product unsafe to eat. The recall applies to 400g packs with the batch code 50328453, and has a use-by date of July 4, 2025. Customers are urged not to consume the product and to return it to any Aldi store for a full refund. The Food Standards Agency has issued the following warning: "If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them." ‌ "Instead, return them to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund. For further information, please visit or contact customer services on 0800 042 0800." ‌ For reliable information on product recalls, customers are encouraged to consult the websites of the Food Standards Agency and the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, the Mirror reports. Shops are also expected to clearly display recall notices if goods are withdrawn from the market. Another recent safety alert involves Lidi. The store recalled its own-brand hash browns due to concerns they may contain metal pieces, posing a potential choking risk. The recalled Harvest Basket Hash Browns are sold in 750g frozen bags with the batch number 5144L and a best-before date of 24 May, 2027. In an official recall notice published online, Lidi stated: "Lidl GB is recalling the product due to the potential presence of foreign bodies (metal) which may present a choking hazard." ‌ "If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be issued." Additionally, Lidi has recalled batches of its fruit and nut bars amid fears they could contain pieces of plastic. The store has recalled Alesto Raw Fruit and Nut Bars in several different flavours. ‌ The recall affects all flavours with the batch code L24337, best before December 2025 and the bars with the batch code L24316 with the best before date of November 2025. Other recent recalls you should be aware of, include Matalan removing three children's clothing items from sale over fears children could end up getting strangled by the clothing. Meanwhile, health food retailer Grape Tree recalled a batch of its Raw Unsalted Macadamia Nuts due to detecting Shiga Toxin-producing in one of its batches. For up-to-date recall information, consumers are advised to check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. Retailers are also expected to display recall notices in stores when a product has been pulled from shelves, which will be placed in the front doors and windows of the stores.
