The four pillars of Delhi's heritage
When Arnav Vij, Aryan Bardeja, Vihaan Tampi and Karissa Gupta discovered that their school stood right next to a historic gurudwara—home to a large rock where Bhagat Singh once tested bombs ahead of the famous Central Legislative Assembly bombing in 1929—they were stunned. The realisation that they passed daily by a site of such historical importance moved the young history enthusiasts to do something about it. 'It made us realise that in a culturally rich city like Delhi, there are countless lesser-known or hidden places with deep historical and cultural significance,' says Vihaan. Thus was born WaPas or Walking Past—an app that guides users through historical monuments across Delhi-NCR. Developed by the four Class XII students of Noida's Shiv Nadar School, WaPas uses GPS and geotagging to help users rediscover the history they walk past every day, one notification at a time. 'It's a navigation app that tells users about nearby monuments, historical places, and landmarks—especially the lesser-known ones,' says Aryan. The app currently features over 500 monuments and heritage sites. 'We wanted to cover both the famous and the forgotten,' says Arnav, adding, 'For instance, near Feroz Shah Kotla, there are old watchtowers that are largely neglected. We've also mapped small mosques, several gurudwaras, besides well-known sites like the Red Fort and Humayun's Tomb.' WaPas acts as a pocket-sized heritage guide. 'Our goal is to raise awareness about the heritage in our own neighbourhoods,' says Vihaan, who led the app's development, adding, 'We hope the app becomes a catalyst for people to visit and appreciate these lesser-known sites.'

Breaking barriers: Radhika Ojha honoured for championing inclusive sports
NEW DELHI: Radhika Ojha, a student of Noida's Shiv Nadar School, has been awarded the prestigious National Sports Excellence Community Trailblazer Award 2025 for her work in inclusive and adaptive sports. The award recognises changemakers who have led community-based initiatives that break barriers and empower the underserved. 'This award is for those who are often overlooked - differently-abled athletes who deserve the same platform and encouragement as any other sportsperson,' said Radhika after receiving the honour from the STAIRS Foundation. Radhika's work over the past 3–4 years has focused on promoting adaptive sports and supporting differently-abled athletes with access to resources, emotional support, and recognition. She challenges the assumption that disability equates to inability. 'Our society needs to stop treating sports for the differently-abled as something unusual. It should be common—just like any other sport,' she asserted. Drawing inspiration from the Olympic ideals of fairness and opportunity, Radhika envisions an India where every young athlete can pursue their dreams—regardless of ability. Woman's body found stuffed in suitcase in Gurugram
The body of an unidentified woman, estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, was found stuffed in a suitcase near Shiv Nadar School on the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. The suitcase was discovered in the Aravalli hills area, directly opposite the school, within the Sushant Lok police station limits."The body was recovered after a passerby spotted a black suitcase with a swarm of flies hovering around it, causing suspicion, and alerted cops. The police team reached the spot and got the crime scene inspected by the scene-of-crime, fingerprint, and dog squad teams of the police," officials reaching the spot and opening the suitcase, officers found the decomposing body of the woman. Forensic teams were immediately called in, and the body was sent to the mortuary for post-mortem. Police have begun examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the perpetrators. Distinctive markings on the victim may help in identification. The number "8" is tattooed on her left thumb, and the word "Maa" (mother) is inked on her left shoulder, police investigations suggest the woman was brutally murdered, and her body was disposed of in a calculated manner, indicating the involvement of a cold-blooded killer unafraid of the woman's identity is yet to be established. In a bid to gather leads, Gurugram Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for anyone who can help identify the FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of murder and destruction of evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
