Aadhaar biometric update for kids aged 5 and 15 mandatory
Nandyal: District Collector G Raja Kumari has stated that children who cross the ages of 5 and 15 must mandatorily update their Aadhaar biometric details. Speaking at the District-Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) meeting held at the Collectorate's video conference hall on Tuesday, she informed that biometric updates for children at the age of 5 and 15 are free of cost. Officials including DLDO Shiva Reddy, GSWWS Coordinator Khader, representatives from the Aadhaar Regional Office, LDM Ravindra Kumar, DEO Janardhan Reddy, ICDS PD Leelavathi, and DMHO Venkataramana participated in the meeting. She stressed upon the importance of Aadhaar biometric updates for students, especially those preparing for board and competitive examinations like Class 10 and Intermediate. She instructed the DEO to spread awareness among students and parents about the mandatory update. Children who miss the free update window and are aged above 7 or 17 years will have to pay 100 for the biometric update. She also directed postal officials to ensure training for Aadhaar operations through SVR Engineering College and ordered the DMHO to ensure that temporary birth certificates are issued immediately upon discharge of newborns from hospitals. Furthermore, she instructed officials from the Women and Child Welfare Department and the Health Department to coordinate efforts and ensure data accuracy for children aged 0–5 years, and asked the LDM to ensure smooth functioning of Aadhaar centers acrossthe district.

Three students from Telangana to head for Japan tour under Sakura programme
Three students from Telangana, who presented their ideas at the district and State-level science fairs, and subsequently won awards at the national-level exhibition, were selected for the Sakura Science Exchange Program 2025. A. Shiva Reddy of TGSWREIS Damaragidda of Narayanpet, Sailu Sai Shrivalli of Sri Chaitanya School, Mancherial, and Shubhasree Sahu of Paramitha Heritage School, Karimnagar, will be among the total 54 students selected from across the country, touring Japan Monday onwards. The tour of Japan from June 15 to 21, facilitated by the Department of Science & Technology, India, includes visits to The University of Tokyo, Omiya Kita High School – a certified Super Science High School, JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, the National Museum of Nature and Science, Mathematical Experience Plaza at Tokyo University of Science, and The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. The students will also participate in a special lecture by Japanese mathematician Jin Akiyama at Kenkyusha English Language Centre and interact with Nobel laureates. For Shiva Reddy, a Class 11 student who aspires to study at IIT, he will be interested in learning about Japan's technological advancement and innovations. For Sai Shrivalli and Shubhasree Sahu, Class 11 and 12 students, whose primary interests are in aeronautics, the exchange programme will be valuable field trip. 'We hear a lot about how the Japanese work hard, their innovation and work culture. I believe I am a young innovator and an ambassador representing my country, I will learn from their culture and work methods,' Sahu said. The three students, at the Inspire-Manak National Awards, proved their ideas. Sai Shrivalli won the award for her simple menstruation device which promotes use of reusable sanitary pads; eco-friendly multi-functional agro machine for Sahu; and for Shiva Reddy, coconut fibre pots as an alternative to plastic pots.

Take measures to beat summer heat: Collector
Panyam: District Collector G Raja Kumari on Saturday called on citizens to actively participate in Swarnandhra – Swachh Andhra initiative, organised by the State government. She urged the public to engage voluntarily and intensify cleanliness activities to transform the State into a model 'Swarna Andhra Pradesh.' The Collector took part in the campaign organised at Panyam Market Yard. Several officials, including District Panchayat Officer Shiva Reddy, Tahsildar Narendra Nath Reddy, and MPDOs, were present at the event. Addressing the gathering, she stressed on the importance of public involvement in Swarnandhra – Swachh Andhra initiative. She noted that, as part of this month's theme, 'Beat the Heat' the government has advised citizens to implement measures to mitigate the effects of the summer heat. Later, she inspected a nearby sand dump and directed that the required sand be supplied to housing beneficiaries promptly to expedite the construction of homes. At the RTC bus stand, she reviewed the temporary shaded shelters set up for passengers and instructed RTC officials to coordinate efforts to increase their number wherever feasible. She further inspected the under-construction toilets at the bus stand and stressed the need to complete the work quickly to ensure facilities are available to travelers. At the health camp organised within the bus station premises, she interacted with medical staff and enquired about the services being provided to Collector also opined over maintaining cleanliness around the public cooling centers and ensuring the availability of clean drinking water. While visiting wealth-from-waste centers, she reviewed household waste collection processes and stressed the importance of segregating wet and dry waste for efficient vermi-composting. When staff requested space for temporary waste storage, she directed the Tahsildar to identify suitable land for the purpose. Later, she visited a local training center and instructed concerned officials to enhance its infrastructure and facilities for better training outcomes. Collector Rajakumari mentioned that under this month's theme, shade nets and drinking water facilities have been arranged at major traffic junctions. To combat rising temperatures, she advocated for rooftop gardening and plantation drives. She also directed officials to ensure all areas in Panyam mandal remain clean and hygienic. The programme concluded with the Collector administering the Swarnaandhra pledge to all attendees, reaffirming their commitment to a cleaner and greener Andhra Pradesh.
