Student's stabbing in Chandigarh: School rivalry turned brutal, 2 minors held
Chandigarh: In a chilling turn of events last Friday, a routine walk home turned into a nightmare for a Class-11 student in Chandigarh's Sector 50. The victim, critically injured in a brutal stabbing, now battles for his life at PGI — the victim of a violent fallout from a school washroom brawl. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The attackers? Two juveniles, now in police custody, who allegedly ambushed Shivam around 2:15 pm, armed with knives and riding a Splendor motorcycle. The motive: revenge. The method: ruthless. The Sector 49 police launched a full-scale investigation, scouring footage from over 110 CCTV cameras and digging through offender records. What they uncovered was a trail of tension that began days earlier inside school walls — and ended in blood on the streets. The scene was first discovered by a neighbour, Nandini, who ran to inform victim's father, Sunil Kumar, a tailor by profession. Rushing to the spot with a taxi driver, Sunil found his son bleeding profusely near the dividing road between Sector 49 and 50. The victim, barely conscious, named his attackers — three unknown boys on a two-wheeler who tried to kill him. Police later recovered a dagger knife, a motorcycle, a stone, and the clothes worn by the juveniles — grim evidence of a premeditated attack.

Pregnant woman forced to do squats after hubby quits job; 2 booked
Gorakhpur: A pregnant woman was allegedly assaulted and forced to do squats after her husband quit his job at a local spice shop in Gorakhpur's Gola area. While the incident took place on July 18, an FIR in this connection was lodged on Monday. According to police, Shivam Sharma (24), a resident of Kauvadil village, worked at a spice shop owned by one Ratan Bhardwaj for a monthly salary of Rs 7,000. Citing financial difficulties, he quit his job 10 days ago. On July 18 around 7pm, Bhardwaj along with one Kush Sharma barged inside Shivam's house and thrashed him with sticks, bricks, belts, and rods. When Shivam's pregnant wife Khushboo tried to intervene, she was pushed to the ground. Shockingly, the attackers forced her to do 25 squats, leading to her health deteriorating. Shivam's 75-year-old father pleaded for mercy, but the accused did not pay any heed. The victim alleged that Bhardwaj regularly carries an illegal firearm and his father Mukesh Sharma, a retired policeman, and uncle late Murari Sharma have criminal backgrounds. Murari was reportedly sentenced to life imprisonment for 12 murders and died in jail. Mukesh Sharma was jailed for 15 months allegedly in connection with a murder before retiring as a constable. Station house officer (SHO) Anjul Kumar confirmed that an FIR has been filed against Ratan Bhardwaj and Kush Sharma under relevant sections. Both accused are currently absconding and police teams are conducting raids to arrest them.

Fugitive in Delhi jewellery heist arrested after month-long manhunt
A 22-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with a violent armed robbery in North West Delhi's Subhash Place area has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, authorities said Saturday. The suspect, identified as Shivam, had been evading capture since June 12, when he and two others allegedly stabbed a jewellery salesman and fled with gold and silver ornaments worth more than Rs 50 lakh. Police said Shivam was apprehended near Sati Nagar in Agra following surveillance and targeted raids. A case was registered under sections 309(4), 309(6), 317(2), 311, 3(5), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, officials said. One of the accused, Jitender, was arrested shortly after the incident, along with two alleged co-conspirators, Vijay Kumar and Vishal Sain. Shivam, however, managed to escape and remained on the run for over a month. The breakthrough came after Head Constable Raj Aryan received a tip-off about Shivam's possible location. 'Raids were conducted at all possible hideouts of the accused. Activities of all the friends and relatives of the accused were monitored covertly,' said DCP (Crime) Harsh Indora. 'Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence gathered by HC Raj Aryan and his team, it was established that the accused Shivam can be found near Sati Nagar in Agra. The team laid a trap near Sati Nagar and nabbed the accused. He confessed about his involvement in the aforesaid case of armed robbery and thus was arrested under Section 35.1(c) of the BNSS,' Indora added. During questioning, Shivam allegedly admitted that he turned to crime following the death of his father, which had plunged his family into financial crisis. Though he had previously worked as an air conditioning technician and at a clothing store in Rohini, police said his income was insufficient. According to the officials, he claimed he was introduced to crime by a neighbour named Kayam and later joined Jitender and others to plan the heist, driven by the allure of quick money and a more comfortable life.

Woman who accused 5 of rape attempt facing criminal case for intimidation
Pilibhit: Nine hours after she lodged a complaint alleging an attempted rape and disrobing at her home in Pilibhit, police registered a criminal intimidation case against a 36-year-old woman on Saturday night based on a complaint by 11 women who accused her of threats and disturbing the peace in the locality. The woman said three men — Shivam, Arjun and Vijay — and two unidentified individuals entered her residence around 11.30pm on Friday night through an open staircase while her husband was not home and she was asleep. She said the intruders overpowered her, tore her clothes, and attempted to rape her. Her sister ran to her aid on hearing her cries and raised an alarm, forcing the men to flee. Before leaving, the accused allegedly threatened to sexually assault her again. The woman also told the police that the men had earlier beaten her son and locked him in a room when he tried to intervene. Her complaint was recorded around 1.30pm on Saturday under BNS sections 333 (house trespass), 74 (use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 76 (use of criminal force to a woman with intent to compel her to be naked), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation). At 10.50pm the same day, police registered a second case based on a joint complaint by 11 women from the same locality. They alleged that the woman frequently disturbed the peace, issued threats of violence, and filed false complaints against residents. "We are afraid of a heinous crime being committed against us as the woman's brother-in-law gives threats of killing to inmates while brandishing a naked sword," the complainants said. SHO Pawan Pandey confirmed that the woman and her brother-in-law were named in a separate case under BNS section 351(3) (criminal intimidation). He said investigations in both matters were in progress.
