Dipika Kakar health update: 6 stomach incisions, yet rapid recovery; actress reveals how robotic surgery changed everything After 11 days in the hospital and a robotic surgery for stage 2 liver cancer, actress Deepika Kakar shares her recovery story and emotional family outing post-discharge. By Shiwani Kumari Advertisement Popular television actress Deepika Kakar has opened up for the first time about her recent and harrowing health journey. Diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer, Deepika underwent robotic surgery and spent 11 days in the hospital. Now discharged and slowly recovering, she shared her experience in a heartfelt vlog on her husband Shoaib Ibrahim's YouTube channel. Out and about after surgery In the video, Deepika, known for Sasural Simar Ka, can be seen stepping out for the first time since her surgery, not for a check-up, but for a family outing with husband Shoaib and their son Ruhaan. Until now, outings had been limited strictly to hospital visits. Advertisement === Shoaib revealed, 'After talking to the doctor, we decided to take her out to lift her mood. Everything she does—whether it's going out or eating—is done with the doctor's permission.' Lightening the mood, Shoaib teased Deepika, saying, 'A talkative and social person like her shouldn't be kept locked at home!' Robotic surgery helped her heal faster Deepika credited her quick recovery to robotic surgery, saying, 'I recovered this quickly because of robotic surgery. Open surgery usually takes much longer. When we first met our doctor, he said robotic surgery would be the best option since the tumor hadn't spread.' Through these, the camera and tools were inserted.' Deepika elaborated that not every patient is eligible for robotic surgery, 'It depends on the case. For transplant patients, robotic surgery is usually not an option.' She also explained the initial risks and how her doctor handled them,'Our doctor, Dr. Somanath, was very enthusiastic about trying robotic surgery. But they had my consent in case anything went wrong—like heavy bleeding—and they needed to open the body during the procedure. Thankfully, it all went smoothly without any complications.' On Monday, June 23, Shoaib dropped a vlog on his YouTube channel offering fans a glimpse into the intimate bash. In the video, Shoaib revealed that since Ruhaan was down with viral fever, they kept the celebrations low-key. The actor shared, 'After my birthday gets over, we bring in Ruhaan's birthday. The little munchkin was born on June 21, just a day after his father's birthday. The clip showed the rooms decorated with colourful balloons, streamers and giant animal cut-outs. The words 'Ruhaan Turns 2' were written on a banner on the walls. Ruhaan held a plastic knife and cut a train-themed cake as his family members clapped for him. After the cake-cutting ceremony, Ruhaan feeds his parents and other loved ones adorably with a spoon. Next, it was time for him to open his presents. From cute T-shirts to colouring books, a bicycle, multiple toys and Legos — he was showered with an array of gift items. 'He's happy, but still he's not fully his self due to the fever,' said Shoaib. Despite not keeping well, Ruhaan seemed to have a good time with his cousins, especially Shoaib's sister Saba's newborn Haider. On a concluding note, Shoaib shared, 'We didn't give him any stress. We just let him feel comfortable. We didn't even get any pictures with him. We just let him be. We are happy that he got to cut the cake and see all the decorations. We had thought about a lot of things, but with kids, you plan something, but something else happens. But he enjoyed.' Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim got married in 2018. The couple welcomed Ruhaan in 2023.
