Bangladesh Keeps Series Alive With 83-Run Win Against Sri Lanka in 2nd T20
Sri Lanka was skittled for 94 in 15.2 overs as Bangladesh won the second Twenty20 by 83 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1 on Sunday. It was Bangladesh's second biggest T20 victory by runs. Bangladesh captain Litton Das scored a 50-ball 76–his first T20 half century after 13 games. He helped to lead Bangladesh to 177-7 in 20 overs after Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl. In-form batter Kusal Mendis was run out in the second over of Sri Lanka's reply and the hosts slipped to 30-4 inside the powerplay against fast bowler Shoriful Islam (2-12) one of the three changes Bangladesh made after losing the opening game. Opening batter Pathum Nissanka (32) and Dasun Shanaka (20) were the only batters to cross the double-figure mark before Sri Lanka was bowled out with more than four overs to spare. All five Bangladesh bowlers were among the wickets. Legspinner Rishad Hossain (3-18) finished off the match by having No. 10 batter Binura Fernando stumped. Nissanka was also stumped by Das off Hossain which ended the 41-ball partnership for the fifth wicket and in the same 11th over Hossain caught and bowled Chamika Karunaratne (0) to leave Sri Lanka on 71-6. Shanaka holed out at deep mid-wicket in the 12th over against off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz before Bangladesh wrapped up the tailenders quickly. Das followed his half century with two stumpings and two catches. Sri Lanka won the T20 opener by seven wickets with an over to spare on Thursday. The final T20 match is on Wednesday at Colombo. Sri Lanka won a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh 2-1 as well as a two-match test series 1-0.

Property worth over 1cr of ‘cyber fraudster' attached in Morigaon
Guwahati: For the first time in the state, authorities in Morigaon district attached property exceeding Rs 1 crore belonging to a cyber-fraud suspect who is on the run, following a court order. The property, a 1.5 katha (4,320sqft) land owned by Shoriful Islam , is situated in Morigaon town. According to police officials, Islam, who is from Bowalguri village under Laharighat police jurisdiction, allegedly collaborated with others to defraud a prominent finance organisation of more than Rs 1 crore. The group reportedly used fake PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and credit cards to obtain loans. The illicitly acquired funds were then transferred to a private bank account in Morigaon registered in the name of Islam's wife. The police pursued legal action against Islam, conducted enquiries, filed a charge sheet, and sought court permission to seize the illegally acquired property. The Morigaon Judicial Magistrate First Class Court granted approval for immediate property attachment. District commissioner Debashish Sharma and SP Hemanta Kumar Das supervised the seizure operation, which was carried out jointly by the district administration and police. Officials said several cases have been registered against Islam since 2021, with this property attachment marking a significant step in tackling local cybercrime. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma commented on X, "The law's reach is extensive and powerful. Shoriful Islam may have duped many people, but his time is up now. This cyber fraud , now on the run, amassed properties worth crores which have now been attached." "No matter how smart you think you are, Assam Police will catch and punish you," he added. He further said in Assam, police will go to any extent to punish criminals and stop crime — be it real or digital. The T20I series will begin on July 20, with the second and third matches scheduled for July 22 and 24, respectively. All three matches are set to be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh is not part of the Future Tours Program (FTP). This series was agreed upon during discussions between senior officials of the PCB and BCB on the sidelines of the ICC Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan. After the conclusion of the T20 series against Bangladesh, the Pakistan team will depart for the West Indies. There, they will face the Caribbean side in a three-match T20I series beginning on July 31 in the United States. This will be followed by a One Day International (ODI) series against the West Indies as well. Meanwhile, the third T20I between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Shoriful Islam injured Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the third and final T20I against Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, after suffering a groin injury.
